Talents and/or Powers: he’s a great photographer of course. he’s also played the bass guitar for many years, and he has a sexy singing voice. has played piano since he was a small child. played the trombone for many years in band. he’s also....a really good dancer? his parents run a dance studio; and while luke was never formally taught himself, he was present and absorbed many things. he knows a lot of the standard dances, and also a lot of dances from music videos over the years, especially boy band dances from the 1990s. does being an avid runner and formerly a student athlete in cross-country count as a power? it does to me, a lazy achy person.
Why Someone Might Love Them: he is very thoughtful and conscientious, definitely the type to ruminate over something before speaking. very loyal--he’s been close with his best friend since they were freshmen in college. also he can be funny as fuck
Why Someone Might Hate Them: he has a tendency to lean negative and even pessimistic.
How They Change: one incident stands out in my mind, and that is of course the fateful thanksgiving dinner when luke’s family found out the truth. luke is the middle of 7 siblings, in a very large italian family; and he’s also the only one who’s “single,” about which he gets teased and prodded often. the first thanksgiving that luke is dating sunan, he brings su to NOLA with him for the holiday with his family. this isn’t weird, as luke has brought his male best friend many times in the past. luke has always been one of the quietest ones in his family, a wallflower, often forgotten and left behind. he is finally fed up with all of the shit his family gives him and is ready to hit them with the truth, stating that sunan is his boyfriend, not just his friend, they are romantic lovers in a relationship. there is some bristling in response, and finally the quiet, doormat, wallflower middle brother blows a gasket for the first time in his life, standing up at the dinner table in the middle of thanksgiving dinner, and yelling in the top of his lungs in a mixture of italian and english how fucking sick he is of being walked on, and only remembered when they ask him about a wife; and if they don’t like him being gay, he is ready to cut them out of his life because he’s tired of hiding and walking on eggshells. his entire family is stunned, especially when he tells interrupters to shut the hell up in the middle of his rant. he then leaves the table with sunan, they pack their shit, and leave to find a hotel until they can fly back to where they live.
after that, he has slowly become more comfortable as identifying himself openly as a gay man; and is now more likely to protest when someone is taking advantage of him.
Why You Love Them: he’s a moody southern boy, which i have a slight weakness for. a lot of his personality comes from my own.
