As i walked Leonidas at around 9pm tonight, in the front yard of a neighbor I saw a deer. Not an uncommon sight, except Ive never seen them late at night. At first it was rustling in the bushes, but when it saw me it moved to the lawn. As i got closer I realized it wasn’t a doe or fawn, as I usually see, but was a 4 or maybe 6 point buck. For once in his life the hound of the bastardvilles was quiet! The buck stayed in place except to rotate himself to keep looking at me, as I got closer. I stopped in front of him, telling him it was ok, nothing to fear, and thanking him coming to me. I’m certain our eyes were locked, and then he sort of bowed to me. It was the most cool thing ever. I spent probably 2 minutes chatting at him and taking pics. He stayed until the doe appeared on house over, then ran across the yard, hopped the bushes and was gone. I wish the pics were better. IPhone suck.
