Psalm 10

1. The righteous man is guided by his conscience

the way the moon follows your path as you walk

along darkened roads.

Guiding light, it shines upon the way, illuminating

stumbles and hazards, the Lord’s lantern.

Walking securely through town and field, always

on course, in the depths of night.

2. Riches, fame, glory—these are flowers beside

the road which reach for your hands, tantalizing

the strongest and wisest.

They pull you into the tall grass, ravines, swamps,

places where the sun will shine upon your broken

limbs as you cry in agony.

But the righteous man walks steadily towards his

goal without distraction.

3. The greedy pick every flower, counting every

petals with hands overflowing, leaving none.

The vain lie among them, staring at the sky and

themselves, content in their beauty.

The ambitious kick and stomp every flower they

find on their path towards elevation.

4. Day or night, keep your eyes on the way towards

goodness, and leave the flowers for God.
