Kyle Lucas.

So I listened to Kyle Lucas, and while “Love and Other Drugs II” is definitely something I could see myself jamming, I don’t think Kyle will ever come out of the underground scene. Of all of his songs that I listened to (which was about 5), the only ones he didn’t sample someone else on were  “Housewife”  and  “Worth It” with Jonny Craig. I don’t see it for Kyle. I do, however, see it for Jonny. Why?  Because Jonny Craig’s voice will take him into mainstream with the right team behind him. He’s knocking on the door of Blue Eyed Soul, but he could very well do a good pop rock fusion.  All Johny Craige needs is a viable collaboration (and better lyrics) to pull him out of the underground scene. Kyle Lucas is not that rapper.

I know people like to get up in arms and have whole back and forths discussions on their Tumblr posts, but, if I don’t know or follow you, I don’t really care what you have to say about my opinions. Like seriously, I don’t care what I reblogged from you, unless I tagged you I don’t give two fucks what you think of what I said.

 I don’t need to “educate” myself about Rhaegar and Lyanna: I’m aware of how old they both are, and I still think she was a hypocrite for running off with a married father after having an issue with Robert’s bastard child. Rhaegar could have been 14 and a butcher, and I would have still thought that that was stupid. Robert wasn’t the greatest, but don’t sit here and pretend that Lyanna was blameless. I won’t even go into Rhaegar because there’s just no excuse there. The least he could have done was remove his wife and children from King’s Landing BEFORE making such a fucked up move. Even after, because he technically would have had to have passed King’s Landing in order to get to the Trident.   

And as far as I am concerned, I have never been here for Olicity. I love Felicity Smoak, but she could do a lot better than Oliver “Are there any more Lance sisters for me to fuck?” Queen. That fluke at the beginning of the last season was a waste of mine and everyone else’s life, but I was okay with Felicity dodging that bullet. When she fucked him and then drugged him at the end of the season, I was officially done. Like, thank you for not drugging him to fuck him, but how could he eve trust her after that? I wouldn’t even take so much as a Starbucks coffee from her. And then wasn’t she technically still with Ray? 

In my personal opinion, Laurel Lance is still the end game here.  STILL. The Arrow writers are super messy for some reason, but I feel like they’ll just bring him back around to her. 

In any case, back to my original thought: I don’t care what you thought of my opinion, because it’s MY OPINION. Like, I really don’t care if you agree with me or not because I’m not going to stress myself out and have an argument with you. If you’re right and I’m wrong, cool, I’ll admit to my wrongness. However, if you have an issue with my opinion being different from yours, you can go somewhere else with your bullshit. Please understand that I’m not coming at you personally. I’m literally just speaking my mind, and moving on. Go have an argument with someone who’s really attacking you.

Can I Just Vent?

Allen Stone is my favorite singer. When my favorite singer starts a new project, I am usually super excited. So when he announced Radius, I was absolutely ecstatic.

I want to preface this next part by saying that I have been to see Allen Stone three out of the four times that he's been to Houston. That means I have seen him play a setlist from 'Allen Stone' 3 times with some variations. When he left us out of his tour last year, I was a little hurt, but I didn't mind so much because he came back and did a minor real estate festival. It wasn't very well promoted, but a lot of people showed up for Allen.

So imagine my shock when this man announces a new tour for a new album, and none of those stops are Houston? What did we do that Allen has decided to forsake the Bayou City? Can someone please let me know? Like, is there a number I can call to fix this?

I'm just so hurt right now. He is literally about to do two tours back to back (with Bryn Elliot) and none of these dates are for Houston, Texas. I don't want to go to Austin or Dallas to see Allen Stone. I want to go to a nice little place in Houston, and enjoy the moment with close friends. And no one can tell me that Allen can't sell out in Houston; Houston loves the fuck out of Allen Stone.

I just don't understand. It's bad enough "Love", "Voodoo" and "Million" aren't on this album, but you can't come to my city, either? And I can't get too mad because there are  probably fans in smaller cities or states that are NEVER on the list for tour dates. Still, my city is big enough and important enough, so why aren't we a stop?

(sigh) I'll get over it . . . but releasing "Love" and "Voodoo" as singles, or on a mixtape, would help me get over it so much faster. XP

Yeeeaaaaaah. I'm just... I don't even know. She's not exactly the nicest person, but she's never shown signs of being genuinely gross before now. Not that that rules it out, I guess I'll just be watching her more closely.

  Every time I think about it, 350 pages doesn’t seem like much to write. But then I think about the kind of writer that I am. I have all of these great plots, but no idea how to start them, or worse, no way to end them. No way to make them make sense to anyone who is not me. Even now, I’m starting in the middle of the story when I should start from the beginning. In medias res is such a great technique though.

In any case, a friend of mine was supposed to go away to the Army. Said friend did not want to carry all of his belongings off to the army, so instead he was supposed to hand over a lot of his techie stuff to myself and my cousin. One of these things was his newly-revived Mac Book Pro. I myself am not an Apple fanboy, and personally think MAC OS is confusing for a hardcore Windows user like myself, but I will never turn down a new toy. Especially when my faithful Toshiba was going to fail hard.

So back to the friend; he got a job with Schlumberger, which is a big tech (I think) company out here in Houston – seriously, if you get on with these guys, you’d be fucking stupid to mess that up – and suddenly the army is no longer something my friend wanted to do with his life. Friend starts guaping (making money) with Schlumberger and gets a message from God. I kid you not, my friend is one of those rare birds who get a message out of damn near every sermon; my pastor would be proud if he knew. Anyways, so apparently the message had something to do with being a blessing to others, but now my friend wants to get me a brand new Mac Book entirely.

But what’s that?

The catch, you ask?

My friend wants me to write a 350-page book. Easy, right?

Or it would be. If I actually wrote – and finished – stories.

But it’s a good goal, and very good motivation. It honestly requires me to go back to my old habit of writing 250-words a day, if only to start the story off and see where I get with it. I mean, it can’t be all that bad.

What’s 350 pages between friends?

Something About Sam Smith

I got into a new music artist and I want to tell you about him. Can I tell you about him? It doesn't matter, you're on my blog so you're going to read about him anyway.

So sometime around Monday, strive-for-it and I were sending videos to each other, one of which happened to be a snippet of some random guy with this lovely voice singing in front of a piano. So of course, I got curious, and Dev told me to go look up this Sam Smith guy singing the acoustic version of his song, "Lay Me Down". I was hooked thirteen seconds in. I fell asleep singing his praises to my Facebook timeline.

Sam Smith is this British kid, born in '92 if you can believe it, with a voice that sounds like Josh Groban and Sylvester James learned that fusion technique from Dragon Ball Z. I don't know what it is with British kids and R&B, but Sam Smith is what Blue-Eyed Soul is supposed to sound like.

This guy, Sam Smith, hits his high notes like John P. Kee and Aaron Neville; that is to say, he makes his falsettos flare out and wave like a french horn. There are so many male singers out here right now with weak falsettos, damaging their natural tenors and smooth bass voices just to fit in. It's so refreshing to hear someone who balances his natural pitch with a falsetto that doesn't break because the note's too high.

If you've heard this name before, it may be because he was featured on Disclosure's "Latch" a couple of years back. I know Sam will forever be cemented that Indie trap of genre, blue-eyed soul, simply because his current track list includes a lot of Dance, alternative pop, and one or two Neo Soul tracks. Still he has an R&B voice, so I think Sam should pioneer a Dubstep R&B subgenre. It's definitely worth a shot.

In any case, it's getting late and I've work in the morning. Please check out Sam Smith's Nirvana EP. I'm telling you it is definitely worth a listen. I have many good feelings about his forthcoming studio album, In the Lonely Hour.

Fun Fact: Sam's Wikipedia says he's Lily Allen's cousin, but hers does not. I'm not surprised though. I don't think that there's anyone in this world who would admit that their baby cousin is loads more talented than they are. I'm just saying . . .
