Inktober/Randomtober Day 7 - Card

Batman and Ace, from the Justice League animated series.

I love Batman. I hate how many of the more recent films turned him into this angry muscled bully, beating up criminals and yelling at villains.

Batman has always been one of my childhood favourites, for the same reason I liked Odysseus best as a kid; he is able to hold his own amongst these incredible superhumans just with his wits and his will.

He's a detective. He always has a contingency plan. He's a suspicious git, which often saves everyone's hides.

And he's incredibly kind. He's not always nice, but he is kind. He offers mercy to most villains out of a genuine desire to help them, unlike in the films.

This moment with Ace, from the Justice League animated series, always moves me to tears. If you haven't seen the series, I cannot recommend it enough. Brilliant storytelling and character development, and as far as I'm concerned, the best screen Batman. (Shoutout to Kevin Conroy. RIP.)

I kind of feel like maybe I should have left this at the black & white version though. 😅
