the myth of "the normal one" in a shinobi team
naruto: hey, who do you think is the normal one on our team? it's sakura, right?
kakashi: [shudders] god, no. i watched that girl bite off a grown man's thumb just to assert dominance during a fight. she didn't spit it out either. i live in fear and admiration of the kunoichi i've raised.
naruto: hmm...

lee: oh, it's not neji, guy sensei had to bodily drag him to his therapy appointment yesterday.
naruto: well, it's definitely not you, so it's tenten, right?
neji, barging in through the door: lee, come help me and gai sensei! some genin challenged tenten to swallow an entire kunai, and she's actually trying to do it!! she won't listen to us!!

genma: [considering] well, i mean, gai's gai, i don't think i have to elaborate on that. and yes, he was like that as a kid too. and ebisu was so focused on trying to appear normal that he completely failed to actually be normal, he was always a neurotic little beanpole.
naruto: huh...

Team Choza and Kakashi.
*not my bestest as the grief has been strong this Thanksgiving (I miss my mama), but had been wanting to do this for the past week or so... and arting helps.
And seriously Kakashi could make any face under his mask and no one would ever know. He was smiling in both, but just added the mask and he suddenly becomes serious.

I'm actually so mad we had zero interactions between adult team Choza like COME ON……… they're The Guys ever………
Also weird hc: they all use blunt offensive weapons (plus Genma's senbons, but it's his own little thing) and are taijutsu specialists. Yeah Gai is THE specialist but u get me. Like, in general, I think these three tend to go into the hand-to-hand combat.
