hi!! do you have a ranking of flirtiest msr episodes?
Top 10 Flirtiest MSR Eps: A Highly Subjective List
Hi! I sat down and thought about this, and I made a list. Maybe it will be controversial? I don't know. I think I tend to prefer MSR angst in canon to flirting in canon, but of course I do like the flirting, so this was fun to think about.
10. How the Ghosts Stole Christmas - Season 6 is a very MSR-friendly season, but I would say their interactions sometimes come across as strained and snippy, probably because the flirting just can't be pushed any more and there is so much going on under the surface. In this episode, I would say they end up flirting despite the tension.
9. Jersey Devil - Lots of one-liners in this, but the one that stands out is Scully threatening to hurt Mulder like that beast woman.
8. War of the Coprophages - Platonic phone sex, and the most clear demonstration that Mulder is turned on by science talk.
7. Chinga - More platonic phone sex, and a marriage proposal.
6. Rain King - More awkward season six flirting. In this episode, they are essentially pushed into flirting by others and by circumstances. But they do.
5. E.B.E. - This one gets ranked high for the "remotely plausible" line alone.
4. Detour - Partly cloudy with a chance of sleeping bags.
3. Hollywood A.D. - That flirt DD. He had Scully giggling and everybody taking bubble baths. This one's gotta be up there.
2. Pilot - Call me deluded, but I think this is one of the flirtiest episodes on the show. They were trying to get viewers interested, and they had these two hot main characters bantering, gazing, laughing in the rain, and taking off clothes like nobody's business.
1. The Unnatural - Naturally. (Unnaturally.) The last scene has to be the flirtiest scene in canon. DD apparently a flirting true believer.
There are a lot of episodes I left off that I'm sure other people would include. For example, Arcadia, which definitely reads more to me as season 6 angsty tension more than flirting, even though I think the show was trying to play it as light. (But just think how different that episode would play if it had been season 1 Mulder and Scully.) I suppose the pizza guy dialogue in Three Words is supposed to be a kind of flirting, but that doesn't really come together for me. And I tried to distinguish between romantic/meaningful vs. flirty, which seems like it is two slightly different things. So Field Trip, for example, I don't see as an episode as much about flirting even though I think it could be seen as more romantic/meaningful. I sort of suspect I am forgetting an obvious one. What are other people's favorite flirting episodes?
