Its so apparent when talking about the recession in America right now how the poor to middle class is always the one that is practically forced to hold up the rest of the economy while the upper middle to wealthy class complains and does absolutely nothing to put money back into the economy.
I was talking with my boss today about the eviction situation right now and how so many Americans are going to be homeless because their landlords aren't receiving money for utilities and rent. He believes that the people who live in these homes are lazy and want handouts because the government said that they don't have to pay rent due to covid. He said that these landlords aren't making money and struggling while those residents used all their covid money on stupid stuff like phone repairs, shoes, etc.
And I looked at him all confused and asked "why is it that when it comes to the residents of these apartments, youre telling me that they should've saved their money and used it for bills and utilities, and that these landlords are suffering but not saying the same for those same landlords who should've been saving their money the entire time, considering they're receiving more money and clearly are in a different class bracket if they can afford the upkeep of these apartments and still continue their lifestyle they're pursuing?". I can't remember exactly what they said but they all gave me weird looks and told me I was wrong. Then he went off about how people refuse to work and the government keeps pushing those "handouts" out to people so they'll just continue to not work. I hate my work sometimes
