{This comic is brought to you by my tired self having listened to EXO’s last album on repeat in order to finish it.} About the discourse. • This isn’t saying there should be a woman in every couple. In this au Rantarou used to be with his mother and was separated from her during the Tragedy. Komaeda is willing to remind his son of his “lost” mother by letting his hair grow because it puts him at ease. • This au is about parents, esp. gay couples, adopting kids. Here I wanted a spin on the difficulties of adoption with a baby (who was aware he had a mom before) being adopted by men. Every kid in this au was found a different way and each parent had to deal with them a different way. Each couple will get their own trial. This is how i chose to represent adoption in the Komahina+Rantarou household.
Mhh I remember that in your AU, Ouma Amami and Saihara were in a poly relationship ? But since you've played NDRV3 and ship saimatsu, what's happening ?
Ouma Rantarou & Shuichi have always been together ahah. Eventually it brought them so close that you couldn’t see one without the others. Then their friendship evolved in something more affectionate. Rantarou & Ouma are good together mostly because Rantarou is good with childish behaviors (cf. his past), he’s composed and patient with Ouma’s facade & tricks. Ouma here (like in game) is somewhat ostracized/antagonized due to his constant lying/tricks & Junko being his mother. Rantarou accepts him & is one of the only people Ouma shows his true “self” to because he’s okay with Ouma.. being Ouma. The latter adores Shuichi due to their friendship-rivalry that he …actually enjoys way more than Shuichi does.
Shuichi met Kaede later and fell in love with her. They fit better, esp since Shuichi struggles to handle Ouma’s personality (despite wanting to know him more) and sees Rantarou as a confident. Rantarou supports dearly Kaede & Shuichi while they somewhat upset Ouma. He doesn’t let it show but he deeply values his relationships and feels like Kaede is taking something important from him.
a lil me thing :Something that struck me while i was playing Ouma+Shuichi in the school mode was Ouma’s ..”sensitive heart-thing ?” (forgot the name). As you hear his thoughts you see he wonders if he should drop the lies so he could be liked by Shuichi. That’s how it struck me that I didn’t like their “romantic” relationship. Okay that’s cute but that means that to be with the other, one of them has to change a crucial part of their personalities ? Ouma has to drop the lies/being a trickster or Shuichi has to start tolerating being lied to/played with ?I do not have to explain Kaede & Shuichi’s chemistry (even if they’re more of a cliche, “in your face” couple). This is why you’ll see Ouma+Shuichi+Amami as well as Kaede+Shuichi in this au.
Has Komaeda ever tried to get rid of Ouma?
No ?It’s true that Ouma is the kid that most of the cast (even here) is wary of. He’s manipulative and the biggest down factor : Junko is one of his guardians. Komaeda (& Kirigiri) don’t like Ouma being too close to Rantarou (& Shuichi). But ultimately they can’t stop their sons from hanging out with him if they want to. Especially since Rantarou is one of the few people able to handle & accept Ouma.
Shuichi is Rantarou’s confident on this matter. In the boyfriend trio (Ouma-Rantarou-Saihara) these two are the sentimental and supportive ones.
Rantarou told his two future-bfs. Aka the day Shuichi found out he was gay.
this may seem dumb... but are rantarou's sisters anywhere in the parent au? or does he even have any in the au?
I think that’d be interesting ! After all Rantarou’s step-sisters come from his dad’s side. His dad could’ve been away with other women (since he’s supposed to be a don juan), having other children while Rantarou was taken care of by Komahina.
Yes, Rantarou hates her. ( @yuki-mirai ) {AI Nanami can communicate through every digital devices of the household, so Rantarou threw them all in the tub for her to not be around. At least until his parents replace what he broke.}
