but shuichi doesn't think he's enough for you. it's obvious that rantaro likes you – he always flirts with you, is super touchy with you and compliments you at any chance – yet shuichi doesn't think he can give you anything that rantaro couldn't give you

shuichi is too awkward to really flirt with you. he might be able to stutter out a compliment, but not without immediately hiding underneath his hat, so that you don't see him blushing

but perhaps rantaro is too popular for his own good! after all, he gets along with everyone, so it's easy to think that he's just a really friendly guy and you might mistake his flirting as just him being nice. while with shuichi, you know you're the only one he compliments and praises

both guys are a bit envious of each other, thinking the other one has things they themselves can't offer to you

but ultimately, shuichi and rantaro still get along! it's mainly rantaro seeking out shuichi's company, but there's no animosity between the two guys!

look, he's spent a lot of time at sea.

he knows a thing or two about storms!!

so it's not so easy for him to wrap his head around being scared of them. but he tries.

if one were to roll in, he'd take a few moments to pick up on why you were acting jittery.

**basically his thought process (I guess)** [name] looks uncomfortable... is it something I did? something I said? [long list of him considering other possible reasons] ... oh, it's raining.

quick to act after that.

he'll tighten his grip on you a little, having conveniently already had an arm around your shoulder, and shift his head to look at you fully, prompting you to do the same.

once you do, he quickly steals a small kiss that caused you to blink- your previous fears forgotten for a moment (even if only a moment).

it's a distraction nonetheless.

the real help comes when he leaves you side momentarily to grab his headphones off his dresser in the other room, coming back soon after and placing them on your head.
