Final duty day. For some reason, I feel like I should be full of sorrow, yet, I'm at peace knowing that my RAs days are almost over. No sadness, just satisfaction.
nothin' like swinging a trashbag full of condoms around campus
Bids Night Thoughts
So here I am on duty on the infamous Bids Night.
For those of you who don't go to a school with a significant Greek population, this is the night when all of the greek organizations run around campus screaming and hollering and pick up their new "babies" (and yes-they actually call them that). It involves a whole lot of chanting, things like " *insert name here* MAKES THE WORLD GO 'ROUNDDD" and "*insert name here* YOU'RE ONNE OF USSSS!!"
And I just can't help but wonder as I sit here, what is it that makes people crave this show of acceptance? What makes people feel like they need to be part of "something bigger than themselves"? Especially in college, when everyone claims to be so independent and capable and confident and blahblahblah.
