are people pro-rape or something?
I’m trying to start a group here in Madison against rape and pedophilia and the assorted reasons why it keeps happening but surprise surprise someone keeps tearing my posters down. People who will not defend women and children from sexual predators probably don’t deserve civilization and i can only assume that it will be taken from us unless we do something quick.
It’s not a matter of Dad sitting down with his preadolescent son and incorporating 'Don’t be a criminal!' into the 'birds and the bees' talk. (I mean, that couldn’t hurt, probably. But it’s not the point.) It’s about teaching our boys to actively oppose sexual violence. It’s all well and good to say you’re against rape and would never rape anyone, end of story. But somewhere in that crowd of guys laughing about an unconscious girl getting 'a wang in the butthole, dude'—and the one listening to Daniel Tosh say, 'Wouldn’t it be funny if she got gang-raped right now?' and the one reading an op-ed in the Washington Post that puts 'sexual assault' in quotation marks, as though it exists only in the eye of the beholder—somewhere in all of those crowds is the guy who would rape someone. The guy who will rape someone. The guy who has raped someone. And could you blame any of those guys for thinking that rape is not a serious crime, or even something to be particularly ashamed of, when so many 'good' guys around them are laughing at the same jokes?

Feminism - A Reality Check
Feminism, one word which can have a great impact on someone in all aspects of life. It can change the way that person thinks, believes, reacts or is received by others. Nowadays, one thing is certain, if you say you're a feminist, it acts as a catalyst to prosperity for you both socially and professionally. But, the real issue lies on the fact that most of us don't know what feminism really is. We don't have a clear idea of its real purpose. Feminism is not female chauvinism, not indeed. It's a step, an appeal for a change, not for turning the tables right-round, but for a balance. It is a term which promotes Equality. Yes, "Equality" is the aim of feminism. Feminism is the belief in the social, political, and economic equality of the sexes. The harsh reality, the bitter truth, is that we live in a society which has been groomed by patriarchy. It's hard to tell when it started but we can't talk about a society, a civilization in the past where men were not considered superior to women. As a consequence, they held the power and everybody accepted it. Even the women, because they also believed its authenticity. But, times have changed since, and we no longer live in such a society, do we? The answer is both yes and no. No, we don't live in a society where a single man dictates our life. We not anymore live in a society where women are not allowed to study, work or live. That being said, however, we still live in a society where a husband have a somewhat authority over his wife. We still live in a society where Rape-Culture is prevalent. We still live in a society where a girl feels scared when she is alone and outside at night and there's a group of guys sitting nearby. That's why feminism is important to our society. But, do we really know what feminism is? For the most of us, feminism means to agree and support anything as long as it comes from a woman. That's not feminism, that's just a different sort of sexism. Feminism is the key with which women free themselves from the shackles of the prejudices of our society. It shouldn't be used to lock up the men to the same shackles instead. Feminism doesn't say that women are superior to men. The people who think this is what feminism is are totally on the wrong path. Now, we think that only Men can be sexist. Only men can talk shit. Well, we need to look closely to get a better view of it. There are women who can be considered sexists too. There are women who are prejudiced against men, and that is sexism. It's right to speak against the men who actually are on the wrong side of the story, but its really unfair to generalize and call each and every man the same. Its really unfair to generalize. What one person has done or committed cannot be taken into account to accuse any other person other than the one in question. Like women, men are different, each human being is different in some way and it's not justified how people see a man doing something wrong and blame the whole male community for it. Slut-Shaming, The experience of being labeled a sexually out-of-control girl or woman and then being punished socially for possessing this identity, is an important talking point on the issue of sexism in our society. Slut-Shaming is sexism because here only females are called into action. It is sexism because for the same reason, Women are criticized and called "slutty" whereas Men are congratulated and they boast about it and take pride. If a man is very confident in his personality and is free from the conservative mentality of the society, he is rated very highly by us, whereas if a woman gets very confident and is free minded, she is called "slutty" or "a woman of questionable character". These are the real issues which needs to be fixed. Demeaning men is not the solution, its just changing teams and continuing the act of sexism for the new team. Treating men and women equally is the solution. It is what feminism is. Our society is a very tolerant society when it comes to women and their rights. One of the really shameful characteristics of our society is rape-culture. Rape-Culture is another word which can be misleading. People often misunderstand rape-culture to be something which means promoting rape, or supporting it. Therefore, people duly speak aloud against it and say that they don't support rape, they are against it. The truth is, Rape-Culture doesn't mean you're supporting rape. It doesn't mean you're promoting rape, it means you're tolerating it. As they say, someone who doesn't act against a crime and instead tolerate it is no less a criminal than the one who actually is committing the crime. The problem with us is that we are very tolerant. We don't like to put a solid effort to act against something which we believe is not right. Rape-Culture is normalizing or tolerating rape and sexual abuse. If we are tolerating a crime, we are also the criminals. Sexual abuse shouldn't be normalized, it shouldn't be tolerated, it should be eliminated from our society. Whenever, someone witnesses sexual abuse, he/she should step forward and raise the voice. We spend most of our strength fighting and arguing over the trivial issues and at the end we end up considering a real issue in our society to be nothing but a trivial. That's the irony of it. We need to raise our voices against the real issues and sexual abuse is one of them. We shouldn't support blindly. We shouldn't turn a blind eye either. There are a few examples which shows what fake-feminism looks like and I would like to put forward those examples right here so that I can make my point, " I want to see a man beaten to a bloody pulp with a high-heel shoved in his mouth, like an apple in the mouth of a pig." - Andrea Dworkin "The more famous and powerful I get the more power I have to hurt men." - Sharon Stone "The proportion of men must be reduced to and maintained at approximately 10% of the human race." - Sally Miller Gearhart, in The Future – If There Is One – Is Female These are not feminism. These are reverse-sexism. We shouldn't support that. We should support the real kind of Feminism, "Feminists are women who just don't want to be treated like shit". " Feminism is the radical notion that women are human beings." - Cheris Kramarae "What feminism means to me is simply that women, like men, are complete human beings with limitless possibilities " - Fahmida Riaz This is what feminism means. Look closely, the difference is very much noticeable. To sum it up, I would like to say that please don't support something just to follow a trend. Support something which you strongly believe in and which you know is right. We're smart enough to distinguish between the right and wrong, so we should act like it.
