janus is the literal philosopher of the bunch because he sees in shades of gray

he isn’t tied down to absolutes the way patton is, and he considers the other viewpoints all the time! heck, its mainly through h i m we get some ethical dilemma because his presence demands it! 

philosophy demands freedom from biases and notions, and he’s the only one that does that to thomas on a moral level, as the foil to patton’s black-and-white idea of morality!

think: he’s the one turning thomas away from the simplistic arguments that patton has made into iffy territory, he’s the one who asks and asks and asks. he demands contemplation, the way philosophy does!  that “it depends” comment was literally him asking thomas to really t h i n k about it, to contemplate all sides before really giving an answer

him bringing up philosophical thoughts back in “can lying be good” feels so obvious now ksjabckjsbvc

Like,, here comes this child with this bomb ass power— the fukcing mother gothel flower—and she could do so much with it,, revert bodies back to quirkless states and shit

Hell she could probably heal All Might and return quirks to those AFO has taken from (if her quirk reverses to a point in time)

But we cant do all those things right now bc,,,, shes baby. Shes literal baby and her life was already filled with so much abuse that shes literally killed over and over again to make weapons

Like,, so much power in a babys hands but we cant even dare ask her to do things for a greater good bc shes already been killed over and over again. Its just so much harder, bc if Eri were made to use her quirk for the heores side, then they’d be no better than Overhaul. They’d be making her do things again.
