soft vocalist boyfriend x hardcore rapper girlfriend
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
dk falls for you long before anyone else realizes it. the contrast is ridiculous. he sings like he was raised by sunlight and warm kitchens. you rap like you grew up on broken concrete and bass that cracks ribs. somehow it works. behind the scenes, he is the one slipping extra honey packets into your bag before shows and you are the one gripping his mic hand when stage fright hits out of nowhere. everyone sees the differences. only the two of you know how clean the fit actually is.
studio nights turn into half-asleep harmonizing on the same couch. his members tease him for dating someone who could outrap half the industry. your fans tease you for melting every time he laughs. he calls you mean on stage. you call him dramatic off stage. neither of you mean it.
it’s messy, domestic, competitive, tender. he helps you warm up your voice with silly scales. you help him write sharper lines for his adlibs. people say the pairing doesn’t make sense. you don’t bother correcting them. it makes perfect sense to you.
Like I said in this post, I do have some ideas with rapper!Reader. Here's one of them.
Stereos and Truck Horns
A peculiar music shop lays at the far edge of Jasper's city limits called "Newsground Jam". No one knew when it been fully established but the place is known for various music and odd customers. Although the giant robots that lurk in Nevada better watch out. The shop owner has ways of handling troublemakers. And will the damn truck stop being nosy!
Optimus Prime is Reader's guardian since he accidentally got into a fight with the Decepticons when they were in the vicinity. The guy feels guilty about putting them on the enemy's radar hence the arrangement. He and Reader are gonna clash for a bit at the start due to difference in opinion.
They don't really care about the Autobot/ Decepticon civil war. All Reader wants to do is enjoy life and make an earnest living. Newsground Jam is neutral ground so either side can visit if they don't cause trouble. You can say it wasn't viewed positively by Team Prime but these are the rules.
This leads to all sorts of shenanigans especially when Reader's "crew" tend to pop up at random times. Friendly oddballs such as basketball loving old school robots, pint sized maddening mercenaries, whacky rappers and even dangerous soul stealing killers. Every visit to Newsground Jam is guaranteed to be quite an experience.
(Reader's gender is preferred gender or neutral to suit preferences. They become close to Optimus but you guys can interpret their bond as whatever. Reader is relatively the same age as the Autobot leader, basically an adult.)
Here's what to expect:
Reader is a bundle of sass done with everyone's shit. Try to baby them and expect to be bitten in return. Danger isn't anything new to them. Optimus has difficulty understanding that.
Cybertronians fully experience humans being space orcs. It's absolutely terrifying especially when one of them can become an eldritch horror through rap music. Humans are crazy in their own ways.
Beep boops is a cheat sheet to speaking Cybertronian. Ratchet doesn't understand how this little blue haired human is so fluent in it. Boyfriend just wants to rap and has no clue why the Autobots are fixated by his comfort language.
Soundwave constantly visits as he is a little too invested in Reader. Convict and a few others aren't willing to share their rapper like usual. Reader just wants to manage their music shop than deal with this nonsense.
A blanket burrito war between an Autobot Leader and a completely done rapper ensues. Pure hypocrisy since both suck at taking care of themselves. Team Prime are both surprised, relieved and scared as this goes on.
Do NOT attempt to intimidate or piss off Reader. Megatron learns that the hard way when the "puny fleshie" turns into an a reality bending eldritch clown monster and proceeds to beat the shit out of him. They are pure neutral chaos who just wants a break.
Reader curses an alien god into submission, Vehicons follow them like lost ducklings and Breakdown gets put into forced medical bed rest at Newsground Jam. Everyone is so confused about the weirdness this human carries everywhere. There's a betting pool on whether Reader's an eldritch god or not.
That's it for now! Until next time folks, I'll see you back in Nevada. Now transform and roll out!
You sat on the speaker with your sister watching Tommy spew out cusses at the small blue dude.
tubbo sat on his shoulders cheering. Ranboo Ducked behind the speaker like the little freaking enderian gremlin he is <3 p/
“WOMAN! YOUR TURN!” You laughed as you slid down and Ranboo took your spot leaning forward watching. And they sood off to a side glaring at Boyfriend.
“3

go!” Cherry cheered as you started off singing “I see red“ by everybody loves an outlaw. Throwing him off from your music. Ranboo scribbled in his book as cherry cheered. “Beep bop!” He finished patting my back making me confused. “He says thank you.” “Ahh your welcome! Thanks for the challange!” Tom handed you a glass of water as they exited rolling out the speakers.
Time skip.
you laid in bed the Bench Trio bunking with you in chairs, blanket nests, or even on your bed with you. Tommy’s hair flooded you vision when you started drifting off. And when you opened your eyes again you saw Ranboo up from his nest looking in your song book.
he hummed tunes and wrote down his favorite lines you guessed. You got up before being tugged back down by the clingy duo. You laughed and slipped out and replaced it with a pillow. Ranboo jumped seeing you and threw your book into a empty drawer. “I wasn’t doing anything.” He nodded and walked out with his book.
you laughed as you heard a knock makimy clingy duo get up and open the door for you. Seeing George, he laughed and hugged you and moved his hands to your hips laying his head on your shoulder. And tommy was not having that. “WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?! What happened to Hi! Hello! How are you! You can’t just go into peoples house and flirt with them when your not dating!” He hissed.
ranboo nodded before George spoke up. “Don’t tell me you ‘WaNt YOuR OLdEr SisTeR saFe!’ She would be perfectly fine with me loser.” You nudged him away. “Dude that’s my brother. don’t talk to him like that.” You walked over and hugged tommy and his friends. “We’ll move the Colab to later okay?” He nodded frustrated and walked out.

You're already late to the studio when you catch the sound of his voice down the hallway—raspy, low, mid-verse.
Seungcheol doesn't stop rapping when you walk in. He just glances up with a smirk, mouthing, “you’re late,” while still in flow. You drop your bag and shoot back, “I’m worth the wait.”
It’s always like this with him—half competition, half something else. The something else he never names.
“You didn’t send the demo.” He pauses the track when his verse ends.
“You didn’t ask nicely,” you shrug, pulling your laptop out.
“I figured you ghosted.”
“I was mixing.”
“You always say that when you’re pulling away.”
You look up. He’s standing too close now, arms folded, shoulders tense. You hate that he notices things. Hate that you wish he’d act like he didn’t.
“Stop reading me.”
He lifts one eyebrow. “I don’t have to. You rhyme everything except what you’re really feeling.”
You don’t answer. He’s not wrong.
Later, when you leave, he doesn’t say goodbye. Just walks past you, brushing shoulders.
You tell yourself it’s better that way.
Wonwoo always waits until the room clears before he speaks.
You’re both tucked into the corner couch at Pledis, laptops open, music low, notebooks messy.
He doesn’t say much. But he watches. Every gesture, every bar, every half-line you scribble out and replace.
“You write like you’re trying to prove something,” he says, tapping your notebook. “Even when no one’s watching.”
You don’t know how to respond to that. Not because it’s wrong. Because it’s too right.
“I’ve always had to,” you murmur, more to yourself.
He nods slowly, like he understands the weight without needing the details.
“I used to write like that too,” he offers. “Now I write like I’m protecting something.”
“Like what?”
He looks at you. Just for a second too long.
“You, maybe.”
The silence afterward is heavier than the beat still playing.
Mingyu is loud when he shouldn’t be.
He swings into the practice room with a smoothie and way too much energy for 10 a.m.
“You still look like last night’s draft,” he grins, sitting next to you on the floor.
You roll your eyes. “Your morning voice is an act of violence.”
He laughs and throws a hoodie at your head. “You’re welcome.”
There’s nothing serious between you two. Just teasing. Playful energy. But lately, he’s been staying after everyone else leaves.
Today, he catches you glancing at the mirror too long—at your posture, at your hair, at how out of place you sometimes feel in a space that doesn’t always reflect you.
“You look like you,” he says, like that’s enough.
“Is that supposed to make me feel better?”
He shrugs. “It should.”
He doesn’t elaborate. Just bumps your knee with his and changes the subject like he didn’t just steady you in one sentence.
Vernon catches you in the hallway with a beat playing through his phone speaker.
“You busy?” he asks, as if that’s ever stopped you before.
You follow him into one of the smaller recording rooms, walls scuffed from too many late nights.
He plays you a loop. Soulful, weird, unexpected. “You’d sound good on this.”
You hesitate. “It’s not my style.”
“I know,” he says. “That’s why I want you on it.”
He always pushes you out of your comfort zone. The weird metaphors, the experimental flows. You balance him—grounded, sharp—and he likes the tension.
“Why do you always want to work with me?”
He doesn’t look up from the mixing board. “Because when you rap, you mean it.”
You stare at the speaker for a long moment, pretending not to care how much that lands.
You write something raw that night. Not for the track. Just for yourself.
That weekend, all four of them end up at your place for a “working dinner” that turns into takeout and chaos.
Seungcheol is in the kitchen, arguing about spice levels. Mingyu’s trying to freestyle with chopsticks in his mouth. Wonwoo’s half-listening with that soft smile he gets when he’s at peace. Vernon’s already playing new instrumentals through your Bluetooth speaker.
None of them say it, but they’re proud of you. They always are.
You’ve worked hard for this—carved your space in a world that didn’t always make room. You used to feel like you had to perform yourself into being seen.
But with them, you’re just… here.
And that’s enough.
Later that night, when everyone’s gone, you look at the whiteboard by your desk. It’s filled with lyrics, half-finished hooks, post-it notes with their names scribbled next to beats.
You don’t know what any of this means yet.
But you know it’s real.
And maybe, for now, that’s what matters.

This is probably my first self insert/reader based idea I made. If you haven't known, I'm sorta in the mod based fandom of Friday Night Funkin since mentions are usually dropped in multiple posts to BF, GF and other characters popping up sometimes. Figure why not expand on that?
Anyway, this is basically Reader having the ability to summon or gain the powers from these characters. When you consider the cast whether it be from Newsground in general to other fandoms in general then we all know things are gonna get insane. Although there are implications.
First, these abilities originate from a unique building that houses a more 'direct' version of Friday Night Funkin. It allows Reader to face off various characters in rap battles or directly interact with each version's world. This is very important and here's why.
Reader can gain allies called Rappers' by beating them in these battles. Some are quite difficult to recruit or remain part of the roster so they have to be beaten multiple times. If a battle has hazards then Reader is forced to comply with them. Ex: Instakills such as Expurgation Tricky Flaming Notes if hit or KB's saw blade if not dodged in time.
These characters are split into three categories: Ace, Battle, and Support. Aces are very powerful but Reader can only bring one with them. EX: Convict from Newsground is a deadly killer who has the ability to shapeshift into anyone and gain target's entire active skillset.
Battle are characters that can fight or have combat based abilities. EX: Pico from Newsground is a gun wielder that can dish out powerful blows and is very agile. Support characters can't fight but can offer supportive abilities such as healing. EX: Skinner from Madness Combat is a doctor and has various medical experience to use.
Reader can carry up to three active Rappers and 3 backups should they need to switch. If one dies then it takes at least a day or two for the defeated to become usable. This process can be sped up by rap battling although some characters might get annoyed.
Reader is a chaotic neutral since the Rappers they can recruit are split between heroes, villains to even mercenaries. It also reduces any chance of rap battling to keep some characters from leaving their roster. Some such as Tabi are just like that in general.
Losing a rap battle does have more consequences though. These can vary depending on who their opponents is and the conditions for such a battle. Against every opponent, Reader will take on temporary aspects from Boyfriend.
These include becoming short/chibi like, minor loss in intelligence(the guy is very dumb) and being stuck having to say variations of beep boops. Uncommonly, they could take traits of their most used Rapper than just Boyfriend. Reader gets one every time they lose unless the character is kind enough to not dish out the punishment.
Some characters such as Madness Combat's Agent Torture can kill them. Thankfully, Reader has the ability to retry in a short 10 second time limit just like the game. Some characters only give limited chances and losing all of them is guaranteed death with no retries. It's best to be careful unless you want to lose your soul to Lord X.
Should this happen then the building will lay still until someone else gains ownership. Only one individual can wield the mysterious abilities inside. Passing it down to someone else is possible but this process can't be forced. A mutual agreement with no outside factors or it won't work.
Funnily enough, I do have some ideas on how to use this. Those will be saved for a different post as I don't want to make this too long. If anyone wants to do their own version of this then go ahead. Just mention the post here so everyone else can check it!
That's it for now! Until next time folks, I'll see you later. Enjoy this little song from the One Shot Mania mod, Sacrifice.flp!
