oh man, so I’ve been in the cosplay hobby for roughly 16 years now. And the whole ducttape over bare skin was sadly prevalent back in the day, because people are stupid. Every now and then someone actually *suggests* it to people as a binding method, and those of us who survived those days come screeching out of the grave like a hoard of banshees trying to save some idiots literal skin.

Jesus Herbert Walker Christ. This incident I remember was in, like, 2002, so around the same time? And people are still trying to suggest it. Still. Stupidity never dies in the convention circuit, I swear to God. We act like we’ve evolved because the yaoi paddles are gone but people are still idiots when it comes to conventions.

ugh, your dad sounds so much like 90% of my male coworkers

@lohelim and I have noticed this thing in my Dad and the majority of the people we know here in Tennessee? It’s like, they all have a belief in personal charity, and would totally give you the shirt off their back or take the time to assist you even if it means going out of their way, but if it comes to the concept of larger entities being expected to do right or good, like corporations or the government, they will completely bend themselves in knots trying to come up with reasons why they should have no obligation to do so, with no apparent understanding of why this is a contradiction.

OG Paladins trying to politely get through the worst-tasting diplomatic dinner they've ever experienced. Maximum fancy silverware to torment poor Dracha.

Alfor quietly struggled to breathe through his mouth to avoid smelling the... thing that had been placed on his plate.

It was staring back at him.

He’d had foods before where the heads weren’t removed after cooking, but never where the eyes were on stalks. 

Five of them.

“Sharassa and all nine turns,” he heard Joitree mutter beside him and chanced to glance at her similarly-laden dish.

That was a mistake.

Where she’d poked it with the spear-fork, it was oozing some sort of bluish-green... fluid that smelled absolutely rancid and didn’t bode well for the contents of the creature he was supposed to consume.

“We’re going to die.”

“Shh,” he softly warned Mirje.

Even if he did agree.

After all, they were only on the third course.

Out of fifteen.

A soft, persistent hiss brought his attention to Dracha’s misery, and he didn’t have to lean out to know that the Rorallian’s tail was practically lashing. “The fourth one on your right,” he murmured.

Dracha merely made a rumbling noise in response before gripping the appropriate utensil as if he were going to use it like a weapon.

Biting back a sigh, Alfor cautiously tried to cut a bite from the food.

The way it collapsed as the fluid leaked out did not fill him with confidence.

Do you think the paladins will play "Dog or Not Dog" with Coran and Allura?

Of course they would and it would be Lance’s idea (but Shiro and Keith would get the biggest kick out of it even though they try to pretend to be too grown up for the game). Arctic Fox would be the absolute last straw that causes Allura to flip a very heavy table and that’s when all the humans just lose it.

Do an of your OG paladins + Elakka have any embarrassing / silly side hobbies? (a la 'one absolutely adores singing show tunes in the shower, etc?)

Joitree: Not so much a hobby, but she is absolutely disgustingly romantic when you get her on the topic of Vivi. Like, veritable hearts-in-eyes gushy. Even Alfor and Zarkon, who were pretty gross themselves about their significant others when they were first dating, roll their eyes.

Dracha: Hates using tableware. He does it to be polite when he has to, but he would much rather hold whatever he’s eating and just chomp the fuck out of it, because that is considered the way to show proper enjoyment of food back home. The others think it’s cute the way his tail will start twitching whenever he’s presented with a table full of space-forks and shit.

Mirje: Is totally unaware that she hums whatever song she heard last while she’s working. Which can be anything from a military march to an opera to whatever such planet’s top pop song is. Joitree has many blackmail recordings.

Elakka: Gives her favorite chemicals pet names the way other Yulnadae name their mechanical projects. The stun poison she uses in her claw gloves, for example, is Sleepy.
