Twenty-seven to me, means my life is my own. Twenty-seven to me, means making decisions for my own fulfillment and progression, nothing more, nothing less. Twenty-seven to me, means being proud of the life I’ve created around me and moving forth full speed ahead, even on the days that it’s easier to slow down, because self loathing is so overrated and so unproductive. Twenty-seven to me, means living each day with the full intent of being honest with myself about my feelings, and analyzing those emotions in order to express myself in my own way, regardless of others opinions. Twenty-seven to me, means living my life with all of the effort, and none of the fucks for anyone or anything that is toxic. At the end of my life, there will be no regrets for any should’ve, could’ve, would’ve dones of the world, but didn’t do, out of fear of what other people may think or say. Because here’s the thing, at the end of my life I want to know I was who I wanted to be, not whomever fell on my lap. I want to leave this exquisite earth knowing I WAS WHOLE, knowing I embodied the woman of my dreams, knowing I did my life some damn justice because my insecurities turned into achievements, and my shortcomings turned into life lessons that sprung me forward into the right direction, always the right direction. I can live with the knowledge of my own self realization, at the cost of a few stares, and hurt feelings along the way. I am happy and feel complete today. As for tomorrow or the next day, I am soothed and carried by the thought that I am resilient as they come, there is no fear within me, because I am capable all on my own. Twenty-seven to me, my friends, is true empowerment. #rareselfie #late20swhodis (at Dallas, Texas)
