Inktober Day 2: Mindless

Theme: My original storyverse Pangaea

After the Warlock of Carryn-yehl was vanquished, it was assumed that all his dark creatures had fallen alongside him.

But many long years later, the princess Aljana learns that not only is the dread Warlock himself still alive, spreading his dark influence throughout the world; his two monstrous dragons live as well, biding their time in the far mountains.

Using the divine powers her Goddess has placed in her hands, she forcibly subdues the dragons to turn them into living weapons against the vile master they once served, to put an end to his plans of world dominion once and for all.

I’m doing a mix of Inktober and Whumptober, picking prompts that tickle my muses at random. Today the Inktober prompt won out! To read more about Aljana and the dragons Rashka and Khata, check out the Pangaea website. :)

Inktober Day 12: Dragon

Theme: My original storyverse Pangaea

Assured mutual destruction... the end of one of the most iconic characters of Pangaea.

When Aljana has taken control of the once-Warlock’s dragons, her armies head west to slay him and any anyone else who stands in their way... And also to cauterize the wound that is the rift through the mountains, destroying the city Hope and returning the world to its once separate and original state, so that no one person could gain such influence again.

Crushed by news of his wife’s and daughter’s deaths, Rylerion - the saviour king of Kayalana, herald of world peace, once-Warlock and destroyer -  cannot bring himself to do anything to stop them. Even welcomes, perhaps, the idea of a final ending, once and for all.

But Lazuli will not stand by and watch the world they’ve all built be destroyed. And so, with equal parts tenderness and frustration he takes the ring of power from the one person he’s ever loved, naming himself leader of the West, and marches with their combined armies on Hope to stop the encroaching enemy.

Using the ring’s magic he attempts to wrestle control of the dragons away from Aljana, but the power she wields is a thousand times stronger than his and he fails. And so, in a final act of furious defiance, he takes the dragon down with him as they meet their fiery destruction together.

A poignant hero’s death for an unlikely saviour, going down in a literal blaze of glory.

And there you have it, the final answer to the “What happens to Lazuli in the end?” question people have asked me for almost two years now. I hope you’re happy. Or at least suitably wrecked. :D

This will likely be my last Inktober drawing  - come Wednesday I’m going away for a couple weeks and I won’t have much time to draw until then. Thank you, endlessly, to you who have commented! As always such encouragement is the one thing that keeps me motivated to create and post. Thank you so much. ♥♥♥

Traji’s family is a bit of a mess. Inn’da and Rashka (his mom and dad) are dead nowadays but uncle Zulu and his mummy Martin still lives. Traji got much of his witch doctor training from the grumpy ol mon. Martin’s mostly just emotional support.
