I cast a bottlecap in the top of this olive blank before hand turning it, & using a ratcheting screwdriver kit (uses 4mm bits). It is 4.25 long & 1.75 at the widest point. The black thumbwheel controls the ratcheting action for tighten, loosen, & lock. It is sealed in shellac, finished in defthane, & waxed with carnuba. I turn these on my 1937 Craftsman lathe, they are hand made & hand finished, so they look like hand made pieces using natural materials. I wetsand & polish to get the best finish that I can, however the results are not as perfect as if I had a dedicated finishing facility.
