You ever think about a time you seriously tried to understand a villains motivations for abusing another character in a pure logical way and had someone remind you that no one actually needs a "good" reason to be an asshole?
And then perhaps reflected back on your own trauma, wondering if you are still subconsciously finding "rational" reasons it could have happened?
Yeah, maybe stop that. You deserve much better than that.
We are a product of our experiences, yes, but they don't define who we are. We do that bit, it's a choice. They got to choose to make those decisions to hurt you; you didn't make the choice to be hurt.
Don't do them the favor of rationalizing their behavior. You deserve so much better.
You already have everything you need to fight for you, so please fight for you. Because you will always be worthy of your own strength, dedication, and respect.
And someday, someday you will be in a much safer place to heal properly. Someday.
