#RaulMartinez was a #CubanArtist known for his #PopArt portraits of leading Cuban political figures. The revolution didn't affect much his work, however, the blockade of 1962 from United States did, since he studied at the @artinstitutechi, and was influenced by the American culture. we can see that influence in the use of pop art. In this painting we can see some of the most powerfull people in #Cuba at the moment, like #CheGuevara or #FidelCastro. He was homosexual, and since homosexuality was illegal at the moment you can see how he wanted be critical by adding some refernces to men genitelia between the faces as well as two women together with an arm over the others shoulder, referencing the lesbian community. #ArtSegrelles #ContemporaryArt #CubanArt (at Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de La Habana)
