11-15 for Jack
Character questions
12. Is there some particular talent, skill, or attribute that they simply could not give up?
Running cons just for the artistry of it.
13. What are your character’s sleeping habits? Heavy or light sleeper? Blanket stealer? One that always rolls onto the floor? Pushes their lover onto the floor? Sleep talker or walker?
Light sleeper because when you regularly sleep alone in the middle of deathclaw-infested desert, you have to be pretty alert. unless he fell down from the exhaustion and is pretty non-responsive at this point. Sometimes tosses and turns, but mostly doesn’t move from a position he fell asleep in, because what if he’s occupying the only square inches of space that is not covered in radioactive sludge
14. Do they live alone or with family? How do they feel about their family/roommates?
He doesn’t even “live” anywhere, he’s just tumble-weeding through the places he thinks are interesting. when he decided to get involved in the politics, he went “If I’m going to change the fate of the Mojave, I’ll need help” and still he was only taking one person with him and a dog. Lucky 38 never registered like a home or even long-term living situation for Jack, it was kind pf a convenient hub, but he didn’t stay there longer than for a couple days at a time. He’s pretty fond of the everyone in his party, but he always knew they all going to go their separate ways pretty soon.
15. Is there a certain person in this world that they cannot stand? The very mention of this person’s name makes them tremble with anger or fear. 11. What is something that would make your character fly into a rage?
I’m bundling these together, because they relate to the same thing, and this thing is Nipton. Jack never got involved in politics his whole life, putting his search for lost knowledge above what he saw as different groups of mostly same people fighting over resources. Leaders in charge are always some degree of an assholes, but others under their rule are all pretty much the same, regular people.
He was actually kind of proud of that, seeing himself as a neutral un-prejudiced, capable of making rational and un-biased decisions. Of course he knew the Legion is bad news, but he always avoided them on purpose. But then he saw the butchery in Nipton and met Vulpes Inculta, who was smart enough and even had some system of knowledge and philosophy - and Jack always believed that even incomplete knowledge is a kick-starter to enlightenment, or at least, decency. But all intelligence made Inculta was this zealous monster, casual in his cruelty and self-superiority, actually believing that he has a moral right to judge and depose of others because Legion is “bringing order to the chaos”… It was closest Jack ever had to a rage fit, as he almost shot Inculta in the face right there and then, though it was closer to reflexive disgust when a cockroach suddenly crawls up to your face. Jack realized that he just physically cannot co-exist in the same space where *this* exists, cannot even take a chance that this group that is absorbing and erasing other cultures and brainwashing people en masse into monsters, could continue to grow and take control of the Mojave.
In short, Jack really can’t fucking stand the Legion.
