best friend! raven queen, who is unable to pinpoint when her interest in you turned from platonic to romantic, but it’s been long enough for her to be painfully aware of how she was hopelessly head over heels in love with you. her crush on you has been around for almost as long as she’s known you, and she doesn’t think she’s ever felt the same way about anyone other than you in her entire life. it’s always been funny how the big bad evil queen’s daughter had a royal in her closest circle, yet it wasn’t nearly half as funny as how infatuated she was. did she have to fall for someone who was so different from her and so out of her league? 

best friend! raven queen, who has never had the confidence to confess her feelings for you, despite having them for years. she’s a bit of an overthinker with her mind constantly going over all the best and worst case scenarios. sure, you could accept her feelings and agree to go on a date with her, but you could also scoff at her, stamp out her ambitions, and tell her your treasured friendship was over as if it didn’t mean anything to you to begin with. imagine if you even said you didn’t like girls like that, even though she knows for a fact that you do like girls like that! of course, you would never do anything like that, at most, you would just politely decline and bear a couple weeks of awkwardness, but she was terrified of something awful happening if she tried to take a step outside of the boundaries already set.

best friend! raven queen, who regretted her delay once she learned that you were dating apple white. the news spread like wildfire, and for quite some time, it was all everyone would talk about for an entire week. it was all about how you two were a perfect match, how it made so much sense for the two of you to be together, how perfect the two of you seemed in both appearance and personality. “the chemistry couldn’t have been more perfect if it was conjured up in science and sorcery,” they would say, deeming you and apple to be the cutest couple on campus in a matter of hours. 

best friend! raven queen, who would be slumped over like a wilting flower whenever she was reminded of how you were dating someone else now, as if it wasn’t bad enough that you weren’t spending as much time with her anymore as a result of it. her best friends do everything they can to cheer her up, reminding her that there were plenty of other fish in the sea and that she shouldn’t be so worked up over this, but she’s still massively upset that she didn’t shoot her shot during the thousands of opportunities she had over the past few years. 

best friend! raven queen, who can’t help but feel a little bit insecure about herself when she sees the two of you walking around campus together, arm in arm, giving her a friendly wave and a smile before continuing on your way. apple has always been everyone’s dream girl with her bouncy blonde hair, sparkling blue eyes, and blood red lips. not only was her beauty highly coveted, but so was her kindness, leadership skills, and position as heir to the kingdom as the daughter of snow white. it was no wonder you fell for her, someone as perfect as she is, over her, who is destined for evil, with a rather plain appearance and an awkward personality to boot. besides, she’s a rebel, and you’re both royals. just because ashlynn and hunter broke the barrier between the two sides, it didn’t mean it was any easier to cross a boundary that’s been set for generations. 

best friend! raven queen, whose tiny evil side whispers to her every now and then, although she’s quick to shake them out of her head. even if they tell her to sabotage dates and spread little lies to ruin the blonde’s reputation, she refuses to resort to petty tricks, even if the voices say that she would be a much better partner for you than apple could ever be. how could she ever think of doing such evil things when the two of you were so happy together? she could never be as selfish as people make her out to be and hurt her dearest friends, that simply isn’t the kind of person she is. so, she clenches her fists and lets out a sigh, intent on keeping her peace. if it’s meant to be, then she would eventually be alright with the truth, but if it wasn’t, then she would simply have to wait, and she was willing to wait for quite a while, even if it meant waiting until after graduation. 

best friend! raven queen, whose chance came to her a lot sooner than expected. after a handful of months of what seemed like honeymoon bliss, cracks started to show and caused the foundation to crumble, leading to a messy break-up that had everyone scrambling to learn about the hot gossip. meanwhile, she wound up in your dorm room, lending you a shoulder to cry on while you allowed your heart to spill out with all the little details going unnoticed. you were also crying about what an awful friend you were, essentially abandoning everyone in favor of your new relationship, but she assured you that no one was upset with you in the least bit and that they all understood you merely got carried away, all that mattered now was how you understood your faults and were willing to learn about them.

best friend! raven queen, who became unsure of when the right time to confess her feelings was. after missing the opportunity last time, she was determined not to make the same mistake again and watch you slip from her fingers into the arms of another person, but she could never find the perfect moment. besides, you still haven’t fully gotten over apple yet, nor did you seem interested in pursuing another relationship at the moment. randomly telling you how much she wanted to be girlfriends instead of only friends never seemed like the right move, and she was stuck in this constant cycle of uncertainty where, every time she mustered up the courage to say something, she would start overthinking if it was the right time or place and end up not saying anything at all.

best friend! raven queen, who contemplated drinking a potion or casting a spell on herself to get the confidence to start and the charm to win you over by the end, but in the end, she managed to whisper out her feelings during a quiet hour in the library while you two were studying for an upcoming test. she braced herself for rejection, pursing her lips together with her eyes screwed tight for a feeling resembling a dagger to the chest, but it never came when you shockingly accepted her feelings and shared your own.

best friend! raven queen, who you’ve come to realize that you liked as well, but you still weren’t sure if a relationship was right for you after the disastrous falling out that previously happened. it’s been long enough that it was obvious she wasn’t a rebound, but you didn’t want her to be the target of any nasty rumors that were bound to happen for dating the ex-girlfriend of apple white. still, she promised you that she didn’t mind in the least bit, not when she’s already been picked on for ages now by people who didn’t even know her. things like that didn’t matter to her, especially if it meant having you by her side as her lover instead of a friend, and after hearing her earnestly spill out her feelings, you leaned forward to kiss her, effectively elevating your status from friends to girlfriends.

apple is big into pet names and terms of endearment, and almost never calls you or raven by your names. baby, honey, cutie, sweetie, darling, love, and so on and so on — the list is endless and grows longer with every passing day

raven, meanwhile, is a touch more conservative than your darling little princess and usually just calls you and apple by your names — though she’s not completely opposed to occasionally calling you both something like ‘babe’ (not sharing apple’s flair for the dramatic, theatric, or cutesy)

apple’s main love language is physical touch. if she’s not smothering your face in kisses then she’s interlocking her arm with raven’s and snuggling into her side like a clingy cat. if she’s not holding raven’s hand under the table when you’re all out on a date, then she’s dragging you around with her as she shops in town (refusing to let go of your hand for a single moment). and if she’s not scratching at your scalp and helping you relax after a long day of studying and exams then she’s perched behind raven styling her hair with an unmatched focus (tongue stuck out and everything) — in other words, she’s all over you both all of the time, both in public and in private

their mothers really didn’t take your triad well — snow especially (the evil queen was more amused than anything, really) — but thankfully that doesn’t really affect you all that much… of course apple was a bit upset at first but she’s since gotten over it as she doesn’t want to lose either of you

apple is really into doing stereotypically couple-y things with you both, but raven’s willingness to participate stops and ends at matching phone accessories and backgrounds

It was lunch time, and me and Raven sat down together. "Thank you for helping me, by the way." She said with a smile. "You're welcome, my adorable goth girl." I said with a smile, and she smiles wider. We then ate our lunch together. The end!

• Raven Queen x gn!reader

“I can do this!” Raven speaks aloud in front of her cursed mirror. “[Name] has been a nice friend, a great one even, and I think they like me too!” Determined she plants her fist against her open palm. For almost an hour Raven had been hauled up in her dorm room trying to work up the courage to ask you out.

Whenever she would gain the nerve to she would walk up to her door grab a hold of the handle; and immediately let go like it was on fire. “Well—what if they don’t like me back? What if I embarrass myself in front of them? What if—?” Raven’s mind would flood with self-deprecating thoughts and she would march right up to her bed and flop right back onto it.

“But, Ashlynn and Hunter are a couple, they seem happy, and Ashlynn a royal, and Hunter is a rebel…” Slowly but steadily she sits up from the confines of her pillows and blankets all sense of dread leaving her body, “and if they can make it work, who says I can’t!” Raven yells out the last part, grabbing the edges of her mirror.

Hurriedly Raven races out of her dorm room, running through the halls, bumping into walls, nearly ramming straight into some of her fellow pupils. “Ah!” She exclaims bumping into someone, “Raven?” A voice speaks up, “Sorry, Cerise!”

Raven is about to walk away when the cloaked girl suddenly grabs her shoulder. “Woah what’s got you so fired up?” Cerise asks teasingly, while smirking, in an alsmost “wolffish” way. “I’m gonna ask [Name] out on a date!” Raven tells her happily, while spinning around to face her.

“[Name]? Is that the one you kept gushing about yesterday at lunch?” Raven hums, “Yeah, actually I’ve kinda liked them for a while and well I think I’ve finally gained enough confidence to face them .” Raven speaks determinedly.

“Oh yeah? And what’s so great about this “[Name]” hm?” Cerise foods her arms, leaning against the wall next to her, awaiting for her friend to answer her little question. “What’s so great about [Name]?—everything about [Name] is great!” Raven stated as if it was the obvious thing in the world.

“They’re so sweet, cute, kind, they have the cutest laugh, they’re so smart too, and when they smile it’s like the sun! Like that one time they gave me a hug, oh my hex I swear I could’ve exploded, or—or when—”

As Raven continues to gush on and on about her huge crush on you Cerise can just feel herself about pop with laughter, but she hides that behind an amused expression and little chuckles here and there.

Raven soon notices her friends behavior and stops midway through her rant, “Why are you looking at me like that?” Raven places her hands on her hips, leaning forward to add on to her “I’m curious” face. “Nothing! Nothing, by all means keep talking about [Name] like there a fairytale hero, well they are but still.”

“No, not until you tell me why you’re acting so…mischievous.” Cerise stands from her position against the wall, “Remember how about ten minutes ago you told me you were looking for [Name]?” Raven nods, “Yeah?”

“How about you let me do something real quick.” Cerise grabs Raven by the shoulders, making her walk back a few steps before turning her around, but making sure Raven can’t get a view of what is in front of her. “Ready?” Cerise asks, while Raven nods cautiously, “I guess,” she answers. “Surprise!” She yells, stepping to the side, her arm pointing in front of her. “Oh. My. Hex.” Is all Raven can say staring right ahead in shock.

“Hi, Raven,” Waving, you smile sheepishly, as you stand in the doorway of your dorm. “I, uh, I like you too?” Nervously you twiddle with your thumbs, “I did not just gush about my crush in front of them,” Raven sulks, facepalming.
