i tend to have unpopular opinions often when it comes to sorting characters into houses but thankfully i think i agree with a lot of vld ones!! but anyway here we go:
takashi shirogane is a hufflepuff! he reminds me so much of cedric diggory that it’s kind of insane. while most think he should be a gryffindor, which i understand, personally i believe he’s 100% a ‘puff. throughout the entire show he remains loyal to ‘the good guys’ (excluding the whole clone stint but that obviously wasn’t him). he never fails to stick with his teammates throughout any hardship, which brings me to the fact that he’s incredibly hard working. no matter how difficult a task is, shiro puts his mind to it and gets it done. he refuses to leave allura with the galra at the end of s1. there are also several examples throughout the show where he puts the team at risk to save civilisations enslaved by galra because he promised he would do so. rescuing matt from the arena was also an extremely hufflepuff thing to do because of the reason he was doing it: he didn’t do it just because he’s brave or because he wanted the glory of fighting in the arena, he did it because it was the right thing to do.
keith kogane is a gryffindor! this one is a pretty popular opinion, but i do see people put him in slytherin just because he’s “angsty and emo” and that is the most bullshit reasoning i’ve ever seen. some arguments for anti-slytherin keith include the fact that he’s not very ambitious - he never even wanted to go to the garrison in the first place. keith is impulsive, brave, reckless and a complete daredevil. he fits perfectly into gryffindor!
katie “pidge” holt is a slytherin! lots of people think she’s a ‘claw because she’s smart and witty, but aside from zarkon and haggar, pidge is arguably the most ambitious character on the show. she’ll do anything - literally anything - to find her missing family. while she fits ravenclaw, her ambitous drive makes her the perfect slytherin candidate.
hunk garrett is a hufflepuff! this one was pretty obvious, and although i think he also fits into gryffindor or maybe ravenclaw, he displays a numerous amount of ‘puff traits. he’s super loyal like shiro (returning to the balmera to save shay), hard working and an all round really nice guy.
lance mcclain is a ravenclaw! this one really is an unpopular opinion, and while i also like slytherin!lance, i think i’m gonna go with ravenclaw on this one. while lance’s ‘lack’ of intelligence is used as a punchline throughout the show, i think that lance is a perfect example of a non-academically smart ravenclaw, which generally needs a lot more rep in hp. his intelligence comes from observation rather than academic smarts. he’s able to survey his surroundings and come up with logical, smart solutions to problems with little to no planning, although he’s not impulsive or reckless like a gryffindor (ex. when he stops keith from running into the balmera with guns blazing because he’s found a more logical, methodical solution). he also is the only one to realise that the droid isn’t rover in the sendak takes over the castle arc right before the explosion happens, saving coran’s life in doing so. he’s also very adaptable when it comes to adjusting to new surroundings. he’s also very people-smart and emotionally intelligent and that’s why he’s essentially the glue that holds the team together.
