I dont think It was just about cryptids honestly now that i think about it bc it had something about spontaneous combustion (Which SCARED me bad too) and alligators also BUT 4th grade was awhile ago and i dont remeber a whoel lot of that year
OOH possibly then!! I do not remember details either very much and I did not get through the whole book so idk if there was one about spontaneous combustion I remember some other ones that scared me though

IT Might have been the same book… GOSH It freaked me out so bad
I SLIGhty doubt it bc mine wasnot really about Cryptids it had like urban legends like alligators in the sewers and cursed video tapes and things like that yours sounds strictly crypted

OAFIHFD THE JERSEY DEVIL Scared me soo bad when i was a kid. there was a book about cryptids in my 4th grade class and the jersey devil scared me so bad i was afraid to go outside at night
SAME!!!! when I was in grade 6 I got a book about urban legends and there was one about the jersey devil and after I read it I couldn’t sleep properly for like a week
