2020 summed up, a fearful year, stuck indoors, losing people but getting this too. Getting published for the first time is special and even more so when it is Penguin India (the largest publisher of Fiction in India) and Romedy Now (Times Group) bringing their first anthology of love story together. After 10 years of blogging my stories, historical fictions and romances, this was indeed a blessing. Hard work always pays off and even if people tell you to stop dreaming, don't! Because dreams do come true. Just when you don't expect them to at all. :)

I Too Had a Love Story [Ravinder Singh]

this book is the true love story of the author. the description makes it sound much more profound than it is.

Will you still call this a love marriage? And what if on the engagement day while you pull the ring out from your pocket, you realize what you planned was just a dream which never comes true…? How would you react when a beautiful person comes into your life, becomes your most precious possession and then one day goes away from you…forever? Not all love stories are meant to have a perfect ending. Some stay incomplete. Yet they are beautiful in their own way."

that sounds like a really good book. it sounds like an insightful look into the concept of online dating and eventually the loss of who you thought was your 'person'. but its really not. each chapter is just Singh giving a bland recount of some memory he has. his descriptions of the events are surface-level at best. he seems like the kind of person who when in a group setting, will just tell a completely random story and make it obnoxiously long to the point where you sit there wondering what he's talking about and where he's even going with it. this book is only 212 pages but the entire time i was waiting for it to end. i was waiting to care about Singh or his girlfriend and be invested in their relationship, but the only time i felt anything about either of them was when she died.

Singh also came across as bit almost arrogant when interacting with most of the strangers he met and talked about. every interaction he wrote about with a flight attendant made me question who the fuck he thought he was. him whispering to the flight attendant who told him REPEATEDLY to turn his phone off the "have you ever been in love? im talking to my girlfriend who i won't see for weeks. i am going to talk to her until i cant." bitch get off your god damn high horse. what made you think that is an ok way to talk to another person let alone someone who is doing their god damn job. it may have been years ago but damn i still feel bad for that flight attendant who had to deal with that bullshit. that kind of entitled bullshit pisses me off.

ALSO UHHH WHAT IN THE FRESH HELL WAS THAT BIT AT THE END ABOUT THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT RIGHT AFTER HIS ALMOST FIANCE GOT HOSPITALIZED?????? i don't even remember what all he was talking about but i do remember it seemed like he was checking out the flight attendant. ur all-but-the-ring fiance got into a car accident and she's hospitalized and not good condition at all yeah. so then ur on a plane and what you remember the most and what you write about is how the flight attendant looks?? not like uhh maybe ur girlfriend fighting for her life? this is a book all about your love story with her right?

there two reasons i didn't give this book a 1 star: 1) there were a couple of quotes at the end i did like. 2) it was short

tl;dr - im glad i only spent $5 on this book, but i could have saved my money and my time if i didn't buy it.
