Not really sure what kind of a story you need, but Borrowed Light by Anna Fienberg is about a mother getting an abortion, "Jugoslavija moja dežela" is about a 20-something guy, who tought his father is dead, but it's actually a war criminal (not sure if it's translated). Tis is from the top of my head. Am I at least thinking in the right direction?
