Fablehaven characters as dogs
Incomplete and I'll probably add more later. Feel free to let me know who else I should do, as long as it's not Ronodin, because I hate him with all my being for no particular reason at all.
Warren- First thought was a Labrador, like the one who eats a sock and gets rushed off to the emergency vet at 3am, but that didn't sit right. Instead, I would say he's a long-haired dachshund. Daxies are fox-hunting dogs meant to run into their dens to fight and flush them out, which feels very fitting. Plus, their spinal problems also fits Warren's injury-prone nature. As does the fact that their breed really enjoys picking fights with larger dogs.
Vanessa- Belgian Malinois (this should go without saying. There is not even a sliver of doubt in my mind that this is her.) Her loyalty, the way and reasoning behind her turning on The Sphinx, her bite-y nature, her drive...
Tanu- Saint Bernard
Coulter- West highland terrier. The bark on this breed annoys me about as much as Coulter's sexism, they're similarly stubborn, but they're still loyal dogs. And for all the fandom hates on Coulter, he wasn't actually an irredeemable monster.
Dale- Deerhound or an Irish Wolfhound. Both feel like a very range-across-the-preserve breed, just like Dale.
Stan- Jack Russell terrier
Ruth- Keeshond
Mara- Groenendael Belgian shepherd- for all they're a shepherd breed, in my experience they're also very calm and reserved but protective of their people, which feels fitting.
Elise- Brittany spaniel
Lena- I feel like the Large Munsterlander's vibes fit well, but the Newfoundland is even better. Especially because I'm pretty sure it's a water-loving breed that's very good at swimming.
Patton- Tied between a Pembroke Welsh corgi- a fairy dog in myths, with high energy due to being a cattle-herding breed- or a Nova Scotia duck tolling retriever purely because they're a water-loving breed and Patton went out and single-mindedly wooed Lena from her pond.
The Sphinx- Kangal shepherd. Large, reserved breed. Patient and calm, and the fact that it's a livestock guardian fits really well for him.
And now, for the four hardest to choose for:
Kendra- I'm torn between three breeds for her. Norwegian Budhund feels very Fairykind-whimsical, but I have nothing else in favour of that particular breed. The two finalists are either the Saluki, which I really like and visually fits Kendra's vibes so much, or the Dobermann. The dobie fits well with their whole 'looks big and scary, and can be if needed, but is really just happy to curl up with their person and be a sook'-ness.
Seth- he could be a black lab, but I have disregarded that in favour of either a Karelian Bear dog (fights bears. It's in the name. And that feels very Seth-like) or the Border Collie, whose high energy works even better. I fully believe he would have either an Irish or Gordon setter as a pet, but they don't fit for Seth himself.
I'm biased in my favouritism for these last two, considering they're my favourite characters. But I did try to choose the best-fitting breeds regardless.
Bracken- A toss-up between two equal contenders; the Tatra shepherd, which a livestock guardian breed and therefore perfect for Bracken's prince status. Or the Swiss shepherd, which- as a shepherd- is also perfect for his personality and eagerness to explore.
Raxtus- My first thought was a corgi because they're fairy dogs, but I surrendered that for the Japanese spitz, which fits his vibes far better. Very reserved dogs, but lovely after you get to know them. Plus the small size in relation to his fairy-dragon-ness is fitting.
fablehaven characters as deer thing ive been cooking up for a while 😋 I have big pics of them individually under the cuttt
went to an amusement park and the only thing getting me through some of those rides was pretending Raxtus was holding me
like Raxtus? I'd trust him with my life. He once dropped Warren and grabbed him again before he hit the ground.
Roller coasters? They'll drop you to your death
seth having wings, vasilis AND the unforgiving blade is driving me crazy
My rendition of Raxtus' human avatar! For @fablehavenartinitiative
