She realizes it’s been a long time since someone’s called her a best friend. Maybe college, maybe before then. She has good friends, even coworkers she likes to call family. But best friend: it warmly settles into her chest. To be called the best, better above all else. I choose you, it says. I choose you every time

19. past tense or present tense?  (this is such a fun question, imo) why do you prefer whichever one you’ve chosen? what benefits do you feel like it offers to you?

present because it’s how i have to write screenplays and i will never break the habit. plus, i just like how it sounds. it makes the story feel more lived in imo.

11. describe one fic you’ve written (completed or not, could even be a single paragraph) that you’ve never posted.

jane arrives to the fbi wearing a pair of glasses. lisbon think he looks beyond hot.

i haven’t reread my writing in a long time, and since it’s mostly about b99 i don’t really want to reread it right now, but here’s a paragraph from a wip i have for josh/donna set during king corn: 

No, this—this is the prickly static that fills the air, surrounds them, forces its way down their throats. The feeling that accompanies green, cumulonimbus-ridden skies that warn of a nasty storm to come. Josh recoils internally at it, glances over at his old—well, what is she now? Friend? Ex-employee? His gaze lingers on her throat, on the confident, defiant way she holds her chin that he knows so well, and he settles on “friend.”

1. do you find reading fics before/while writing your own work helps or hinders you? does it influence your character voices?

it depends! i’m a really big person on tone, so if the tone of the fic is different than the source, then it’s not the best for me (and i don’t tend to read those much anyway). but for the most part, it’s helpful, especially when i’m writing for a new fandom. it helps me start to translate characters from (usually) the screen to the text, which is nice. and again, it’s really helpful for me to understand tone when i’m writing, which is why i’ll typically read fics before i write anything!

8. forwarding the plot: descriptive and detailed or subtle, paced, and flowing?

some in between! though, i think i lean towards the latter.

16. name a fic writer or several that has really influenced you to become a better writer.

honestly, nat ( @proofthatihaveaheart​) and sy ( @akosyy​) have greatly influenced my writing!! between nat’s well-developed, intriguing plots and sy’s ability to meditate so vividly and carefully on small, mundane moments, i think my own writing has been informed by them, at least partially.

dude, i don't know you at all besides following you ofc but that is post about body image is so relatable like, i always had thinner friends growing up (even as a guy) and it really fucked with my sense of self and literally now i look back at pictures and it blows my mind how healthy i actually was, anyway i love seeing people realize positive things like this!!!

right!!! it’s so jarring! my entire body image perspective in high school was warped merely because the people i was closest with naturally were TINY but now that i’m looking back it’s so illuminating

3. which reoccuring character has the most depth in your opinion? already answered - kevin!

19. what is the healthiest quality about amy & jake’s relationship? they have the utmost respect for each other in every single aspect of their lives. when they were dating other people there wasn’t any malice or trying to break them up and they just respect each other as cops and as people, and they’re both able to admit that the other is better than them when its warranted.

jake and holt <3 they are my favourites always.

9. which character do you share the most flaws with?

Oh man. Probably amy. I'm anxious about everything and have always been low key scared of anyone with more authority than me. She’s way more badass than me though lol

23. what character, other than jake or amy, do you hope takes to the peraltiago baby quite emotionally?

Holt (and kevin by extension)!!! I’ve not been shy about the fact that I basically want him to become baby peralta’s unofficial grandad. He met jake and amy in the midst of their bet, saw them bicker, fall in love, officiated their wedding and he gave jake advice about his relationship with amy through it all - intentionally or not. if you ask me he is the reason the baby even exists because jake would not have become the man amy fell in love with without holt’s guidance and he loves them both so much and it’s canon that he sees jake as a son so of course he’s going to see Jake’s son as his grandson AND I’VE MADE MYSELF CRY
