This will be less of a structured post and more of a ramble because I can't get this idea out of my head

I know that Paolini was inspired by Shiprock in New Mexico when he came up with Helgrind, which is very much a tall extremely steep mountain in the middle of a flatland, but Helgrind feels a little too odd even for that, with the black rock it consists of being notably different from the rest of the environment, and there is also all the winding tunnels deep inside the mountain that the Ra'zac and Lethrblaka live in

And the Ra'zac are famously compared to insects within the series in every way from appearance to sounds to their life cycle

So there is this thought

What if Helgrind is not a mountain, but a termite mound,

built by the numerous Lethrblaka and Ra'zac out of gods know what, in the times of early human settlement after they've followed Palancar's ships from the human homeland, and as ages passed, it slowly became known more as a mountain than what it originally was, and became the center of the Helgrind cult

The Ra'zac were mostly eradicated during the events known as the Ra'zac war an unknown length of time ago, so there would be no one to build more of these nests

But if a Rider and dragon were to travel back to the old continent
