Guess who rewatched Initiations for the millionth time lol
Raz, a very important gobbo, and his bear Rinlo. Guildie’s OC.
March, 2017
It’s my personal opinion that the Ogla’s social culture in raising kids is similar to how a post militarized Sparta was (at least in my thin understanding of things); women and girls get the same opportunities, training, and education as men do.
Though there is still expectation to produce strong offspring.
I like to think of Karden and Kinells mother being a hardened warrior, someone akin to Razik. She is someone who earned her name, far before the others and was/is held in the highest of esteem’s for that.
She and Razik were often at each other’s throats, their distinctive prides complimentary and generously clashing.
I imagine Kinell as being closer to the expectations for men; someone who could grow to succeed his father and continue leading the sect.
Karden is the opposite.
He’s born early. A tiny, frail little thing, barely expected to survive infancy. Environmental conditions and the bare-bones survivalist nature of the Ogla often makes things more difficult and as he grows he is soon enough labeled as the family runt.
But Kinell defends his brother. As much as he’d like the idea of succeeding Razik as First Maje, the well being of his younger brother takes a higher precedent. This causes him to loose some standing but he is steadfast in his choices.
Razik isn’t too keen on the idea of letting this happen, keeping a runt around won’t do anyone any good in his eyes, but Kinell is his parent’s son and argues well for his brother. It is a moment where Razik is reminded that Kinell is equally his mother son as he is his father’s.
