Reviewing The Sins that Cry For Vengeance
Right off the bat, this book is immensely better than 7 Brothers. It’s very immersive. The dialogue is straight out of an old Hollywood movie. Sometimes the mobsters sound like Bugs Bunny. 😂
That’s Herman, our Pa. I did both Chinese and Mexican American MCs, and he looked like that for both of them. 🤷🏻♀️
As for that horrendous yellow dress, it looks good on no one! I’m honestly underwhelmed by the outfits. I’m hoping that it’ll get better as the MC becomes more immersed in the mobster world. Oh yeah, our name is Mercy. The irony is so obvious that it’s painfully cringy, but I like to keep the original names.
For paths, you can choose between Stealth, Violence or Deceit. I’m currently on the Stealth path, but a slot for Violence is a must.
As for the LIs… we all complained about how boring they looked… I think the problem is they look way too modern, especially the redhead. They need skinny brows, red lipstick, smoky eyes, skinny mustaches, shoe polish slicked back hair.
The first guy is Montclare, which is not as fun a name as Buster. Montclare is definitely not his real name, so I’m going to pretend his real name is Buster. He’s very ashen and I don’t know why. I can’t tell if he’s supposed to be Asian, Latino, Italian… He kinda looks like Skeet Ulrich mixed with Johnny Depp. I thought he was gonna be a hitman based on the trailer and his entrance, but he’s actually the boss.
The two female LIs happen to be friends, which I cannot believe this isn’t more common and really needs to be. The first one is named Virginia and she looks like Chloe from 7B. I think she’s a combo of Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish. Anyway, she’s got a great twist that is 🤯 in the best way! Then there’s Sabrina. Of course her name is Sabrina! I still wish there was a Betty or a Louise. Anyway, Sabrina is gorgeous. Don’t know much about her yet. My guess is she’s Halle Berry and Bailey combined. Frank, the black male LI, looks the most 1920’s to me. I actually think he’s really cute. He kinda reminds me of Trevor Noah or a young Blair Underwood.
His name is Volpe, which is a terrible name! But he has the best facial expressions! He’s definitely my favorite character just for that reason. He’s supposed to be a big brute, but he’s more like a soft bunny. Does he kinda look like a combo of Justin Timberlake and JC Chasez?
Anyway, I stopped after 3 episodes, because I wanted to save some of my 💎 for the Haze finale. The shorter episodes actually make me want to stop more. That urge of wanting to continue is no longer there, because the episodes are too short to establish that tension. That might be another reason why HS3 really isn’t pulling me in. I do, however, like this story better than Averris: The Riftborn, HS3, PUB 2, and Where Love Burns Eternal. I just hope the LIs are interesting…🤞
