Look at her, she's so sweet, so beautiful ♡ love the fact that Jules can be a friend for her, and I enjoy how Yim writes their friendship! Would love to see more scenes with her :3 for example, I'm curious about her last name. Is she Polish? Does she has some close Polish ancestry? Or this ancestry is very distant and doesn't really count?
Not gonna lie, I would love to romance her (I know she is a LI), but I also think that my Isaiah isn't a great partner for her. First, he is taken by Flint, second, I just don't see them as a couple. Sometimes I don't romance characters I like, when I don't think my MC has a right chemistry with them or when I don't think this LI needs to begin a relationship in this exact time and with this exact person (my MC). I wish I could matchmake Grace with someone decent and who will appreciate her as she deserves!
Reacting to Yim’s message!
1. Yay!! We will be able to romance Grace and Gutierrez, albeit not as much as the other LIs. I am 100% okay with this. I’m just so happy that they will be options, because I didn’t expect Yim to create even more LI routes. (How many slots will this story take overall?🤔) Also, because I think the MC and story will be strong enough even without a main romance.
There are even more romantic possibilities coming? Wow. This has got to be the most exciting book to be released. Yim is both very ambitious and generous. I hope one of these is a complicated romance with a patient. 🤗
I also really appreciate that Yim is both intentional and upfront about which LIs will be focused on more and which will be more on the side. I can have confidence that the handling of the story and those LIs will be done well, and that we won’t be led on with disappointing and disappearing romantic arcs down the line.
2. Very interesting. We need to romance both Eugen and Dakota, but do not need to be physically intimate with both of them. I wonder how that will work. I also hope that Eugen and Dakota will be treated as separate people and not just one joint character.
3. I’m not very knowledgeable about this topic, but I’m surprised people are asking about Flint’s genitalia. My mind did not even go there. Is this an appropriate question to ask? (I’m not judging, I’m really asking.) If you’re considering romancing Flint, does it matter what genitalia they have? I mean… It isn’t real, so does that specific detail matter? Especially since we can choose our MC’s gender. Maybe I just assumed Flint is anatomically male, because that’s what it looks like to me.

Now I’m even more excited for the next episodes of Code Blue! With so many ongoing books coming to an end soon, this may become my top story in RC. Is it weird that I feel like doing cartwheels? 🤸♀️ I would definitely die if I tried. 😂

Just nerdy musings about Code Blue’s LI names and Yim’s Animorphs influence
I wrote a post a while back wondering if Arina was inspired by Animorphs to create the animamorphs. Well, later on Yim mentioned naming Tobias after one of the characters from Animorphs.
I just randomly started thinking about an interview with Michael Grant, one of the authors of Animorphs, that I had read years back. He talked about how Tobias had become an early type of representation for trans kids and teens, back when those topics weren’t talked about at all. (And how his own son is trans.) Tobias was a young boy stuck in a different body. Well, at some point in the series, Tobias was no longer one or the other. He began to identify as both a boy and a hawk. Knowing that Yim identifies as nonbinary, this is kind of cool. It’s also cool that the authors of Animorphs did this unintentionally. It just made an impact they never could’ve predicted.
Hell and High Water
Come to think of it, Hell and High Water did give me Animorphs vibes. It was post-apocalyptic yet cozy. A band of misfits. So so many animals! Phoebe was very Cassie. A compassionate, soft spoken medic who looked like her too. Chand also gave me Marco vibes. The haircut, and fans speculating that Marco was bisexual. RJ seemed Ax inspired too. Found on a stranded ship, extremely intelligent, a walking Wikipedia.
I’m just rambling now. But my nerdy mind went there.
Code Blue LI names
Another rambling. Jules’ mom mentioned Flint is “Native.” The other day, I was randomly researching the Iroquois Confederacy. The Mohawk Tribe call themselves the “People of the Flint Nation.” Also, they were a matrilineal society. The clan mothers chose and could remove male leaders.
I wonder if Dr. Grace Malinowski’s name was inspired by Bronislaw Malinowski, who was a social anthropologist behind functionalism. It could just be a name, but it sounded distinct enough for me to ponder if this was on purpose.
Nahome is an Ethiopian name for Nahum, the biblical prophet. It means compassion.
There is a Mexican race car driver named Esteban Gutierrez. This could just be a coincidence. But the guy’s kinda cute, kinda looks like him. What do you think? 🤔
