I bit the bullet and got up at 5:30 am to run so I'd have more time after placement tonight. My run was decent enough, clear and windy but not too cold. Immediately after finishing, I got a text from my mentor teacher that every school in our board is closed today because of a snowstorm that's rolling in.

Once I got over my ridiculous good luck, I got back in bed in my running clothes for another hour. Got up for coffee at 7:30 and discovered that the blizzard has started. What should I do with my unexpected day off?

8.5 mile long run today! I did not dress warmly enough for this lol so I was freezing the whole time...still beats not running XD

Got talked into a 10 mile run after school today with my training partner. It was almost 70° when we started, and 65° when we finished. So perfect.

The run was tough but so good, and I’m going to sleep so well tonight. Feeling much better about the half we have coming up next month now!

austin half-marathon: done. more importantly, austin runner's club 2019 distance challenge: DONE

the distance challenge is a series of five races spanning october to february, starting with a 5k and ending with a half-marathon or marathon, depending on whether you choose half-track or full-track. i've done all the races before, and if i'm honest, i'm a little bored with austin road running lately. so i'm super happy to have successfully completed the series. not only do i get a sweet finisher's jacket, but i also can concentrate on trail running now.

i have a fortnight until my 50k.

Another day, another run!

Some pics of this week. Trying to get back to the right frame of mind and going back to my hobbies. Going on the third week in a row now and I'm feeling better.

Another stress-blasting post-placement run. My headphones died halfway through and I almost slipped on ice about 18 times, but I felt so strong. I need to remember more often how grateful I am that I get to do this.

Your girl accidentally drank 2/3 of a bottle of wine plus 2 cocktails and stayed out til 2:30 am last night, so this morning was um. Rough. I couldn't believe I was actually going to run as I was getting ready. Unsurprisingly, the first part of this was TERRIBLE. I kept up a consistent mantra of "I hate this I hate this I hate this" and considered giving up countless times. Things started to turn around about 5 or 6 km in, though, and just kept getting better from there. By the last few kilometres I was feeling fine mentally and physically. This obviously still wasn't a great run, but I'm so happy I pushed through.

I've spent the rest of the day lesson planning, doing laundry, and moving pretty slow. So grateful it's a long weekend and I have an extra day off tomorrow.
