Turkey Trot 5k! 🦃🏃🏽♀️
Yesterday I put the final touches on the costume and fully assembled it for some strength testing lol. I was so afraid to be littering the course with fallen feathers. But it held on strong!
I also picked up my swag bag, which included my shirt and bib!
This morning my husband and I went out to the race! Today is the coldest run I've had so far this year ironically lol, it was only like 50F. So we bundled up.
They had coffee at the starting line, which was nice, but I didn't want to risk peeing in the woods so I held off lol.
There was a 1 mile fun walk, and the race organizers were going to launch the walkers first for some reason, but changed the plan last minute, and because of how they had the speakers angled versus how they had us lining up, no one heard the sudden change of plan, so when the race began, it bottle necked hard for the first long stretch. It was chaos with all the bobbing and weaving runners. But it eventually opened up, and we ran through some nice quiet neighborhoods, where the locals were sitting outside, cheering us on!
It was a lot of fun! I got compliments on my costume! I think I was the only one who bothered to make one lol, which is understandable when they're so cheap and accessible online. But it was fun to make and wear so I'm glad I did it. My tail feathers didn't fall apart!
Peep the guy to the left throwing shade lolol. Don't hate!
They had pie, water, Gatorade, beer, and fresh fruit at the finish line! I just grabbed an underripe banana and a Gatorade lol. But we definitely grabbed some thanksgiving donuts on the way home 😁
