Red Dwarf 30 Days Challenge - Day 22: Favourite ship/pairing

is there anything to ship besides Rimmer x Lister (ok apart from Cat w/ either himself or his suits, and Kryten w/ his iron), i mean i think the fuck not.

as an a-spec i usually ship platonically (not like that’s some general ace rule obviously, it just is for me), but i’ve got to admit that with these two it goes further than that, partly thanks to some excellent fanfics i’ve read (ig the novel-sized Easy As Anything by komodobits on AO3 was the one that officially converted me hahahahahhkjhsq /RIP) and just the fact that they’ve made me want to read fanfic again in the first place (smth i hadn’t done for over 10 years) should say enough.

but moving back from that side of things (*insert quiche Rimmer hand movement*), words can’t fully explain what these two mean to me on a personal level, too. like, polar opposites who need each other to survive, the whole yin-yang side of it all, it’s just something i’m dealing with on a daily basis in the ol’ brainpan, and their dynamic is such a good metaphor for this, like i literally have a Lister side and a Rimmer side, who mostly just argue and annoy each other constantly, but occasionally help each other out. anywhos i wrote a whole damn essay on this in my diary yesterday, which i won’t bother ppl with here obviously (unless anyone would be interested LOL) but in any case it was a quite enlightening experience and i love them ♥ i mean let’s admit it, they are what makes this show

Day 9 - Favourite Cat outfit

You know, weird as it sounds to say, I don’t give Cat’s outfits much thought. Which is something he would be horrified to hear somebody say, I’m sure! I don’t mean to say that I dislike them, it’s just that they’re all so smegging spectacular that after a while they just kinda fade into the background. You just expect him to be wearing something amazing, see that he is, and then get on with watching the show.

It probably doesn’t help that I’m not all that interested in clothes anyway. I never look at something someone’s wearing and think “wow that looks great” I just kinda register the colour, the kind of clothes it is and then move on. A fashionista I am not. Which is why I tend to live in jeans and a rotation collection of old favourite T-shirt’s.

So, basically I don’t have a favourite. Sorry Cat. They’re just all so great I couldn’t pick if I wanted to.

Red Dwarf 30 Days Challenge - Day 12: Favourite series 2 episode

i love Parallel Universe a whole fucking lot, and Better Than Life is also a class episode, but nothing compares to Thanks For The Memory, which is pretty much perfection. it’s basically one long Lister-Rimmer conversation, with Feelings and Camaraderie, and i’m just all ♥_♥!!! throughout the whole thing.

also when Rimmer loosens up, first bc he’s drunk (the sandwich scene oh my god ♥) and then bc of the memory, aaahhhh :33333 he’s just too precious. and gorgeous. both him and Lister looking exceptionally gorgeous in this ep?! and we’re blessed with another Angst Dome scene which is sort of the epitome of soft early Rimster feels we can agree. i have a lot of Emotions

Red Dwarf 30 Days Challenge - Day 18: Favourite series 7 episode

ahhhh this is an easy one :))) again, not a massive fan of s7 as a whole, bit uninspired? maybe in general, and of course Rimmer leaves, which is shit. but then we have Blue which is a relief to say the least, even if it ends in some Rimmer bashing and he was never really there to begin with.

apart from THAT SCENE ♥♥ i also like the hostility between Kryten and Kochanski (who the hell would keep salad cream outside the fridge aqkshdkq! then again, who would iron a bra), and just Lister being mopey and missing Rimmer ugh yes i will just pretend “The Rimmer Experience” never happened ;)) (altho in itself it’s a fun scene and that stupid song’s stuck in my head now)

Red Dwarf 30 Days Challenge - Day 1: Favourite crew member

just for the record, this is already a rudely difficult question bc i love both Lister and Rimmer so much this question made me cry BUT this precious space bum deserves the world, so it’s only right ♥ i relate to both Rimmer and Lister in a 50-50 way i’d say, tho i definitely aspire to be more like Lister. 

yeah, he’s an idiot with questionable hygiene habits and zero remaining taste buds, but that’s 100% part of his charm. he gets depressed and frustrated (who wouldn’t) but remains an optimist through all this. he knows what he wants, can be stubborn and doesn’t take any smeg, but he’s really a sweetheart who just needs a hug.

needless to say, yes, i would die for Dave Lister ♥
