some headcanons for @zeivira's crack au "No sleep for the wicked" that is invading my head and is living rent free and is stoping me from writing my own au (and study) so ya let me release the drain

I honestly can't stop thinking abt how garfiel would first react to Subaru's "illness". maybe because I don't know if the information that the witch cult members are also always sleepy is widely known, but if it is- my boi Subaru must have the strongest coffee in his disposal because that boy won't be sleeping for 3 days straight (or was it two?). I imagine that he'll sleep the first two loops but then his scent is so strong and to add to that his sleeping "illness" would make ryuzu's alarm bells skyrocket and it'll be way too harder than the og white rabbit loop lmao. but if it isn't I think that'll make garfiel think of Subaru to be way less harmless. can't really do anything if he's unconscious for a couple of hours everyday ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯. but i don't think he'll sleep anyway in the winning loop, just like in canon the difference is that he'll keep trying to stay awake for as long as he can. and when things calm down beatrice would force him to sleep and then garfiel would panic cuz he beat the shit out of him, him the same person who he has gained respect for and now after all that he had done turns out he has the same deadly illness that took the Royal family yet is doing miracles, I used to think that garfiel won't be able to stan subaru more than he already does, but that? ya well I'll be damned if he didn't.

now I didn't read the novels cuz I'm waiting for season 3 to end but I've gotten spoilered pretty good to know the general idea of what's going to happen (cries) . so rainhard, MY BOI IS GOING TO BE SO SAD THAT HE DIDN'T KIDNAP SUBARU WHEN HE HAD THE CHANCE LMAO. like yeah he was able to find the supposedly last royal member alive (*cough*we will act like cappella doesn't exist*cough*) and he's happy to serve them again, but Subaru has the same illness that took them in the first place, so i think he'll feel some kind of responsibility to help him even if he can't have him in the same camp, that sense of responsibility to be able to defeat the illness that took them and that might take his friend too, he couldn't protect the people he was supposed to protect, so the least he can do to them is getting rid of what took them. He needs to help Subaru, because of him now, because he couldn't beat the illness Subaru is suffering, and he'll be damned if he lets anyone succumb to it again. I know that the felt camp would be also heavily included in the research along crusch camp now lol.

Here comes the boyyyyyy~

Vampire IF Subaru, the unfortunate nerd who got teleported to another world full of his favorite undead creatures.

Some tidbits about him:

He grew up loving any and all vampire media, be it books, games, anime, movies etc. He's watched just about every vampire anime under the sun, but his guilty pleasure favorite is Vampire Knight, he just loves a gothic romance.

He's a lot more of a soft nerd than a sporty nerd this time, he went out in his favorite comfy hoodie the night he got isekai'd.

Natsumi Schwartz is his vampire sona and self-insert into many of his favorite stories. He's got a whole vamp goth cosplay of her hidden away in his closet. He doesn't know his parents know about it, but they're cool with it anyway, they think it's nice that their son has a hobby.

In Lugunica, he appears even more fragile than in canon, he doesn't have the increased resilience and regeneration of vampires, not to mention how he's basically chronically undernourished because human food is extremely hard to come by in a world where everyone can only drink blood. Everyone at the mansion basically had to scramble to find him a suitable food source, once Beatrice found the books to explain what the hell humans eat.

His fragility is emblematic of gothic horror protagonists, and he's gotten a newfound sympathy for those perpetually fainting Victorian ladies. It's absolutely not doing his self esteem any favors though.

It's crucial he hides his real species from anyone who isn't part of the mansion staff, if the wrong person found out he's the only human (Al is also human but he's had a lot more practice hiding it) they could very well start hunting him for sport, or worse. He wears fake fangs in public.

Elsa found out. Pretty much immediately. The loops in arc 1 consisted of at least one death by her fangs.

The duel with Julius goes even worse. Julius was in fact holding back, but he was holding back an appropriate amount for a fellow vampire, not quite enough for a barely adult human boy. Subaru gets sent flying, and Julius is extremely concerned by how breakable he is. It doesn't help that healing takes twice as long because Subaru doesn't possess vampiric regeneration.

The scent of the witch is now alongside an inherent fragrance his human blood gives off. Only vampires with stronger noses can smell it, but his bleeding makes it stronger, confusing a great many vampire because "where is that really sweet smell coming from?" He's lucky most people don't know what humans even are or what they smell like, but it does give him away more than once.

So Riddle has Leona-blocked my sister with TWO SSRs on Leona’s banner so far, and I made a joke about Riddle having a one-sided crush on Mae like we were planning with Floyd, which led to the discussion of Ruggie having a one-sided crush on Iliana like with Jade because, as you all know, Ruggie has Jack-blocked me for the last time, and me and my sis are super petty when we wanna be.

And that led to a hilarious discussion.

As I might have mentioned before, Iliana becomes more increasingly chaotic and feral the more deaths she goes through during a specific run, especially if they’re particularly gruesome or traumatizing. This leads to her becoming insanely unpredictable and, as we all know, Jade loves unpredictability.

Mae is part of the hiking club Jade is in, so he often gets information about Iliana from her because- I mean? They both love to talk about their siblings. Jade tells her stuff about Floyd, Mae tells Jade stuff about Iliana. This is so Jade can get an idea on how Iliana’s mind operates so he can, you know, get a hold of her and win her over.

But! And this is the funny bit, so I’m using direct quotes from our convo-

Me: “YASSSSSS GENIUS!! Mae is Jade’s only chance of understanding Iliana’s unpredictability 🤣And even then with all the reruns he can’t predict her at ALL. Cat and mouse, kinda. Floyd is his own level of unpredictability. Poor Mae is the one who has to figure HIM out.”

Sister: “Jade and Iliana are a game of cat and mouse, except the mouse found a racecar and now he can't catch her for shit. Floyd would love the semi unpredictability of Mae but Mae would be stumbling over his crazy.”

Me: “Iliana has a race car, and her destination is WOLF.”

And then. Then there’s just the whole chaotic mess Iliana becomes whenever Jack becomes involved like-

Me: “Riddle like his women ✨tall✨ but unfortunately he doesn’t have kitty ears. Oh gods does this mean Ruggie likes the small chaotic types? He’s gonna be trying to monopolize Iliana’s time hardcore. Won’t work though, cuz she OBSESSED with Jack. Riddle’s also decapitated Iliana once or twice and I don’t think that sits very well with Mae- redemption arc having passed or otherwise.”

Sister: “Yeah. Riddle got no chance. Especially after Mae starts hanging out with Floyd. Haha”

Me: “While the twins have murdered the girls themselves, it was far less gruesome 🤣 Jade especially. Ruggie might have a better chance with Iliana than Riddle does with Mae, especially if he does the puppy eyes and sad droopy hyena ears, but the second she catches sight of Jack- SWISH ZOOOM- She gone.”

Me: “And like the whole reason Iliana jumps out windows so recklessly is because she KNOWS Jack will catch her, like when doesn’t he catch her, man is a literal wolf who can hear her talking on the second floor from the courtyard.

The second his ear twitches upon her shouting his name he KNOWS she’s being a chaotic dumbass and is already running, uses his speed and strength to catch her because DAMN IT is she trying to get herself killed again?? And when he catches her she just beams and says “hi”. And Jack is just alfbsksnsknsksks WHY.

Meanwhile Ruggie is just clicking his tongue and fuming, probably running off to find Mae and Leona for help because damn it Jack is ridiculously hard competition.”

Sister: “Oh. Oh wow. I like this plan. This is a GOOD PLAN. Riddle inviting both Iliana and Mae to tea but also purposefully instructing Ace and Duece to conveniently make Iliana too busy to go or get kidnapped for shenanigans so Mae gets there and there is no sister present.

Ruggie asking Mae for help with Iliana -Mae telling him she likes someone else but Ruggie doesn't care and tries to win her over anyway- and trading tips togwther to swoon their respective people regardless.

Leona using Ruggie's crush as a way to get him out of the dorm so he can spend time with Mae without him. Jack having no clue what's going on but rushes to catch Iliana every time she magically (not magically at all actually) happens to be falling from a window right at him.”

Me: “YASSSSS. And RIDDLE WOULD HE SO WOULD. Cater swooping in to steal Iliana away for helping painting roses, Trey suddenly needing an extra taste tester, Ace and Deuce needing help with homework because for some ✨mysterious reasons✨ Iliana always passes class. Riddle’s not taking advantage of his role as dorm leader to convince the first years to steal Iliana away to spend time with Mae. No no. He would never!

It’s just oddly convenient that as soon as they go to have tea time Iliana suddenly can’t join. Hmm. Shame. Mae will just have to remember to pack some sweets up to share later. Riddle will make sure there’s plenty. Oh, what’s that? Here have some of your FAVORITE tea, Mae.”

Sister: “I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE. OH MY GODS. THERE'S SO MANY OPPORTUNITIES FOR CHAOS!!!”

Meanwhile Azul is in the background observing the drama and planning money-making opportunities by taking advantage of it like:

The vampire if how overprotective does the rest of the cast get when they find out Subaru's not a vampire like one to ten scale

Oh boyyy this is gonna be fun Scale is gonna be from 1 (Doesn't give a fuck) to 10 (keep him on a leash at all times good god)

Emilia - Emilia found out at the beginning of arc 2, once she brought Subaru in for Beatrice to heal him. She then spends the entire series horrified at the lengths he will go to to protect her, or prove himself or whatever the hell he's trying to do. Especially after he got mauled by the Ulgarm, her worry for him increased tenfold, and then another tenfold after he challenged Julius. Her reasoning for leaving him behind in arc 3 is in part because she sincerely believes herself to be a bad omen, because of Subaru's continued offers for her to bite him (he thinks it'll be romantic and doesn't understand how weird that is), she thinks he might have some kind of brain damage after what Julius did to him. She believes she may actually end up getting him killed (little does she know, it's already happened, a lot), but also that she might lose control one day because damn, his blood smells nice. By arc 4, she understands his reasoning a bit more, but still hates to see him constantly putting himself in harm's way, and considers it extremely important for him to continue hiding his true identity. Despite not being the best liar herself, she's dedicated to keeping him safe, but will usually just avoid talking about it. In a way she feels kinship with him, as they both need to be careful about going out in public, due to her identity as a Witch of Envy lookalike, and his identity as what's essentially a talking prey animal. 8/10

Beatrice - Beatrice also knew the moment she met him, her ability to read Mana coming in handy for this. At first, she finds him more annoying and stupid, and even when she starts to like him more, her reluctance to exit her shell and bare her vulnerabilities prevent her from being too involved in what he's doing. After their contract, she's about as protective of him as in canon. Beatrice isn't a vampire, she's a spirit, and so she doesn't have any reason to be scared of herself losing control and attacking him. He's her contractor, she cares for him and his safety and will protect him with her life, but she also trusts him to take care of himself. She knows he may be reckless, but he's not stupid. 5/10

Rem - Rem finds out in arc 2, once it has to be explained to the staff that they need to somehow find a food source just to feed this one guy. Needless to say, she finds it incredibly suspicious, especially when in earlier loops Subaru keeps tailing Emilia and casually suggesting they have a taste of his blood. He has to be up to something. Not to mention, there's not only a ridiculously sweet scent wafting off of him whenever he accidentally cuts himself, but there's also constantly the smell of the Witch on him. She's fully convinced he's a Witch Cult plant, some kind of fabricated existence meant to be as tempting as possible. She does actually end up biting him, in the loops where she kills him, to punish him for daring to step foot in her sister's home. After the Ulgarm fight, she becomes one of his most fervent protectors, while also passively encouraging his reckless behavior. His weakness is also a strength in her eyes, as it gives him a unique kind of bravery she's absolutely in love with. She won't stop him from getting into trouble, but she will without hesitation kill anybody who dares attempt to harm her Subaru-kun. He could walk into Hell and she would follow him unflinchingly. Rem is hard to categorize, because her protectiveness of him is filtered through her view of him as her hero. She doesn't want to stifle him, but in the process enables a lot of his bad habits, opting to take action to defend him in the moment, rather than preventing him from getting into danger in the first place. It helps that she knew the moment she met him. 7?/10

Ram - Ram also knows right off the bat, and she's initially a bit wary, like her sister. Depending on how suspicious Rem is of him, her own concerns vary. She's a lot quicker to understand that he's just kinda stupid however. Ram does care for him, but holds no small amount of exaggerated disdain, usually teasing him for his weakness and taunting him with his status as food, with such charming nicknames as "cattle", "pig", and "snack". It's all in good fun, but it's also a subtle warning to him to not get careless. Sometimes she brings him grass, for their "livestock", and he responds to the jab by shoving it in his mouth while maintaining full eye contact. 4/10

Otto - Otto genuinely has no idea until, like, Subaru's knighting ceremony at the end of arc 4. He's absolutely piss drunk when he finds out, and it sends him into a goddamn crisis. He feels like a fucking idiot for not realizing his incredibly fragile best friend is not in fact, a vampire with a chronic health problem, but apparently he's been a whole other species this entire time. He's starting to wonder if Subaru technically counts as an animal, and the only reason they're able to get along so well is because of Otto's Divine Protection. Knowing this now, he sees how Subaru never seems to eat the same meals as everybody else, he's never shared a glass of blood with anyone, and no, that sweet smell is not just Otto's imagination. Otto's dedication is second only to Emilia's with helping Subaru keep his secret from everybody else, and he's a much better liar than her. He essentially crafts Subaru a whole fake backstory, makes it absolutely fucking airtight, and all but forbids him from speaking to strangers without at least one bug tailing him to report back to Otto. If he could he'd ground him to his room forever. About half the paperwork he does now involves forging Subaru's legal documents (which he apparently didn't have for a whole two-ish months??? He's lucky nobody bothered to check), birth certificate, Lugunican citizenship, etc. Poor Otto is about to have an aneurysm every time Subaru goes anywhere. 9/10

Garfiel - Garfiel thinks this is the coolest ever actually. He finds out while fighting Elsa, and at first he's pissed cuz y'know, she hurt his Captain, but once the dust settles he's actually thrilled to find out that the dude he looks up to is part of a long extinct legendary species he's read about in all his favorite stories. A lot of the heroes of legend were human, and he really admires Subaru's tenacity despite his weakness. Everyone's a little fragile to Garf after all, so the most he'll do is offer to train Subaru to fight or dodge better, and act as his bodyguard when he goes out in public. Alas, he's bad at keeping a secret. He will punch anyone who fucks with the Captain though. 5/10

Frederica and Petra - Frederica learns when she comes back to maid duty, and Petra needs to be informed once she gets hired. I don't have much to say about them, but Frederica makes sure Subaru gets proper nourishment, and Petra is a little weirded out that she can lift Subaru up with ease, but she's mostly chill about it. Sometimes they team up with Otto to keep an eye on him. 6/10

Roswaal - This fucking guy knew before Subaru even got here. He's been growing orchards in his backyard in preparation for the day his favorite little pawn would show up. His sacrificial lamb. He's been doing everything he can to put Subaru in harm's way, knowing he can just try again if things go wrong. He fully believes in him to pull through somehow, even as he actively throws him to the wolves. Not only that, but Roswaal is one of the only vampires alive who was once human 400 years ago, so he knows how it feels to be preyed upon, and yet he could not give less of a shit as long as Subaru helps him achieve his goal. 0/10

Another Re Zero crack AU idea

Okay so, I was talking with @birdmitosis, and we came up with a fun and silly AU idea for Re Zero

Vampire IF

Basically, it’s more or less the same except everyone in the Re Zero universe are vampires, with the exception of Subaru and Al, as they both came from Earth.

Subaru would still be a NEET otaku, except his interest lies more specifically in vampire fiction, he probably wears a slightly different outfit to match a more spooky/gothic aesthetic. Anyways.

Subaru gets taken to Lugunica, same as always, and he notices that literally everyone is a vampire of some kind, there’s stores selling vials of animal blood and raw meat, overall he looks like he dropped straight into a gothic fantasy visual novel game. And he is thrilled. Finally, he’s gonna get the vampire romance of his dreams!

Important thing to note about this world, humanity went extinct 400 years ago, all the vampires here drink animal blood. But if one were to bite into Subaru, they’d find it really hard to stop. Subaru suffers a few deaths from being bitten, namely by Elsa, after she notices he clearly isn’t a vampire.

So yeah, this vampire fanboy kid winds up in a world of vampires, even meets a beautiful vampire-elf girl, and will soon learn that vampires are not actually all that fun to be around, if you’re the only human in the world. He’s even more fragile here than in canon, surrounded by all these undead creatures with a lot more resilient bodies than him.

He’ll have to disguise himself as a vampire if he doesn’t want to die, with fake fangs he makes himself (not those shitty plastic ones, good convincing ones, obviously, he has lots of cosplay experience). Only the people in the mansion know his secret, and they have to go out of their way to find a food source he can actually eat, since blood and raw meat isn’t exactly sustainable for him.

I’ll elaborate on some details later (and feel free to ask questions), but that’s the jist of it. Poor Subaru goes from wide-eyed excitement to fearing for his life 24/7, but that’s nothing new.

I finally got around to coloring the Overblot picture. XD It’s about darn time, lol. I also fixed up the girls’ character sheet... thingy. 

Previous Posts Summary: Mae and Iliana if they Overblot. Crowley performed the curse, so it’s his magic that blotted, so it only makes sense that the monster would resemble him, right? The girls end up vomiting ink every now and then to try and expel the blot from their bodies, seeing as they have no way to actually get rid of it as they’re magicless. With each death, they vomit more ink. Iliana suffers the most from this as she dies more frequently. 

Credit to @twsty-lav for having come up with the re zero au and the idea that Overblot MC would be “caged” in a sense. (I think they wrote it as an hourglass? But I’m using lanterns instead) The way I’m drawing and writing it isn’t exactly the same as their version, but it was heavily inspired by theirs.

Fingers, eyelids, and nails are all shades of blue/purple to symbolize Mae and Iliana having died in their original world, and while they can be painted over they can not be removed. The white lilies/discoloration on their skin represent what illnesses/scars they had in their previous life that was healed/fixed when pulled through the mirror when they got revived, as lilies show that the souls of the departed have received restored “innocence” after death.  

They’re literally souls given physical form in Twisted Wonderland. So while their bodies ARE warm, like normal humans, their hands are cold to the touch. They can also touch the ghosts normally without them making themselves solid.  Mae can sew, so she basically just took the boys uniforms, took over the art room and sewing machine, and made them uniforms. Their Ramshackle dorm band is obsidian and pearl. Mae is class 1-B with Jack/Epel and Iliana is 1-A with Adeuce. I imagine it’s only after the Overblot that the “Return By Death” curse is broken and the girls are actually HUMAN human again. Because... disney and friendship magic. Yayyyyyy.
