So, my mom and I had this dog we were forced to re-home. She turned out to be very high-maintenance, and as it turns out, while she was very close to another of our dogs, she overall functions better as the only dog in the house. She was very high-anxiety, and because of our work/school schedules, mom and I just weren't able to care for her as well as we could the other two, plus the fact she was so anxious all the time, we weren't able to housebreak her.
Well, the vet helped us re-home her, okay? And she instantly made friends with the family's cat. I knew mom and the dog's new mommy were text buddies, and I just found out they're Facebook friends...
And I just learned that the new mommy messaged mom, wished her a merry Christmas, congratulated her on the fact she's going to be a grandmom soon, asked about my well-being and that of our other two dogs, and told her that she'd just posted some pictures of the dog we'd given up that we might like to see.
And let me just say, this dog was the sweetest thing ever, we just didn't have the time it turned out she needed, and while it was heartbreaking to give her up, it was better for her overall. Mom's stopped in to check on her a couple times, and she's really, really happy!
And I just wish everyone could have such an awesome re-homing experience with their dogs who they love but just can no longer take care of, because it's just so wonderful for us to be able to keep up with her, and it's so good to be able to not worry about how the dog is doing. She's been housebroken, because as it turns out, other dogs make her nervous. She's very cuddly, and very good friends with their cat, who also loves her. I was so, so worried she'd end up in an abusive home, but it's so wonderful to know she's not!
