Bag it!: Re-using grocery bags
So one thing that I dislike about grocery store shopping is having all those darn plastic bags. The tree huger in me hurts throwing the plastic bags in the trash. So here are a few ways to re-use your plastic bags.
1. Save for shipping/moving
Instead of packing peanuts or tissue paper, use grocery bags to pack your fragile items when shipping or moving. When moving/shipping/storing glass wear, I put a grocery bag tightly packed into the glass, then surrounds the glasses with extra plastic bags to help avoid breaking when they shift on the move.
If you have a small trash can or waste can say in your bathroom or in your bedroom, etc. instead of using a huge trash bag, use a grocery bag.
3. Use as extra hanging storage
So this is a great idea (if I do say so myself). Great for socks and other small items. Hang the grocery bag off your closet door, or of a shelving basket. Great for small apartments and recent grads trying to save some money.
When going out to pick your garden, take a plastic bag (or more depending on how amazing your garden is) and harvest the vegetables into the bag. You can then place in a crock or directly into the fridge. Also, great when you are giving your veggies to a friend/family member.
I just did this the other day. If you are bringing a dish to a party, place in one or more bags to assure it doesn't get all over your car.
