Hey, fuck the culture that encourages people to attend meetings, events, classes, work, etc sick. Especially with deadly shit like the flu.

You’re putting disabled people, young people, elderly people and pregnant people in danger. You’re not admirable, or strong, or anything good. I know it’s hard to stay home, especially when money is involved, but please listen to me.

My resting heart rate is currently 120, and I’m laying down. My oxygen levels are chilling around 93, which is abnormally low for me. My lungs are filled with crap. I’ve got a fever of 101, which is so bad it’s quarter past four and I can’t sleep. I will probably be going to the hospital if my O2 keeps dropping and if I keep choking on whatever is in my chest and throat.

I have the flu, all because someone who was diagnosed decided to still attend a very optional meeting. I had the flu shot because I know people do shit like this, but I still got the flu. Not everyone is protected. For an able-bodied, healthy person, the flu will usually only knock them down for a few days. I’ll be lucky if I make it through the next week without a hospital visit.

So yeah. Fuck the culture that encourages people to go out in public with potentially deadly diseases, and fuck the people who knowingly expose people to the flu when it could have been completely avoided.

If you have to go out, wear a mask. Wash your hands. If you work in food service, stay tf home. This shit is deadly.
