I motored through 1/2 of the read-a-like.  It was hard given what the first 3 chapters were like.  To me, it was so unecessary for the author to go there.  The tropes are soulmate and rivals to lovers in a paranormal world.

The MCs are interesting enough without that.  It really was hard to read.  I don’t know why authors choose to either dumb down their female character or make both MCs unlikeable.  You can have messed up characters and show growth without doing this in the first few chapters. I’m beginning to think it’s a publisher thing.
