Catwoman: Soulstealer by Sarah J Maas Book Review
Hey everyone! Recently I read Catwoman; Soulstealer by the queen SJM. Her and a few other authors got the rights to write a book from the DC world and base the story off on one of the DC characters. Maas's is the only one I've read so far, but after reading hers I'm really intrigued about the others!
In SJM's take on Catwoman, Selina Kyle, AKA Catwoman, must face extreme dangers and take several risks in order to save her sister who is slowly dying from cystic fibrosis. While living in Gotham city under the false identity of Holly Vanderhees, Selina befriends the insane Harley Quinn, and the half-plant half-human Poison Ivy to undertake heist missions and wreak havoc on the city. But for every villain, there's a hero, and Luke Fox, AKA Batwing, isn't going to let the people of his city be at risk of danger. It's his mission to stop Catwoman, but she is always one step ahead of him.
I loved Sarah's take on Catwoman. I loved learning about her reasons for doing the things that she does. I love love love that SJM always incorporates real world, humanitarian and political struggles into her novels. She brings up real issues that are current and relatable. There were some typical SJM-isms in this book too; things ending just a wee bit too perfectly, but hey, gotta love a happy ending!
This book is rich with diversity. We have interracial relationships, main characters being people of colour, gay and lesbian relationships, and even a vegan character!
If you are like me and love anything Sarah J Maas writes and are in dire need of something of hers to read while awaiting the final Throne of Glass book to be released then do yourself a favour and pick up this book! I thought it was super fun and bad ass and I seriously want a sequel haha!
5/5 stars!
What are your thoughts on this book? I'd love to chat about it!
ALSO! I need some book recommendations! What have you been reading and loving lately??
Thanks for reading!
