You had always been a tough, working hard, always gave everything for the people you loved, especially when your boyfriend returned deaf and broken from a failed mission. But now it felt like none of this ever mattered as you were stuck in bed, coughing up a storm and burning with fever, feeling extremely weak and helpless. Luckily you had Kelvin who was more than happy to take care of you despite knowing that it would take a week at most before he'd be the one chained to the bed, disoriented and feverish, but right now he couldn't care less about it, you needed him and taking care of you was all that mattered to him. Kelvin sat next to you on the bed, gently stroking your hair, picking the strains out of your face while occasionally humming a sweet melody, the fingers of his other hand entwined with yours. Even through the burning pain of the fever you felt a sense of warmth spread through your heart. His presence was reassuring and you had never felt so loved and cared for. Kelvin was the sweetest man you had ever met, and you were well aware that you were lucky to have him in your life. All the pain both of you went through after his mission was blown away as soon as you felt his presence next to him. Your eyes fell shut as you listened to his whispers.
"You're my world. Let me take care of you for once.", his voice was soft and sweet.
Hours passed as you drifted in and out of sleep. Kelvin remained by your side, holding your hand while watching your breathing finally become more even as you drifted off to the realms of dream where you'd hopefully find some rest. He stood up to leave, looking at your peaceful sleeping form and thought about how fragile you actually were. He chuckled at this thought, making a mental note to never tell you out loud. He turned to leave but not before whispering one last thing.
"I love you. Get well soon."
As Kelvin closed the door behind him, you opened her eyes, smiling to yourself, knowing that Kelvin truly was the man for the rest of your life. You just knew that no matter what happened, Kelvin would always be there for you. You slowly closed your eyes again, feeling grateful for the love you had found.
