#reader representation

I don't know why, probably not a non-issue since it has been used as a "female" reader for so long from back then up to now but I do wish "x reader" known as another form of gender neutral reader since it doesn't have a specific gender at all.

Like, "x reader" by its title/tag is technically like another form of "gender neutral" but it quickly just is known as another title for "female reader"...

Wouldn't it make more sense to be known as a "gender neutral" reader unless specified like: MALE reader, FEMALE reader, etc

Like I've been thinking about this for so long it just bothers me because why an "x reader" is just automatically and most known (popular) as female readers and not also "no gender/gender neutral" readers...

Because half of the time, you all of sudden fine rare jewels when there is someone who does use x reader as another form of gender neutral and I'll be cheering my butt off.

Am I gonna get hate for this....? Maybe.

If I don't find anymore male/ftm readers I usually go to gender neutral stories since it's almost welcoming for all genders...

ANONS & POC REPRESENTATION

Alright. Here we go again. In continuation/response to my original poster, ‘’Media and POC.’’ Read if you want to. I’m not going to respond to people who refuse to understand.

So, this is to the anons my friends and the POC community have been receiving. 

‘‘You can’t force them to change their writing style, just ignore it or find something else.’‘

Real funny, anons. See, here’s the thing. Our complaints stem from the fanfictions that are tagged as ‘’GENDER NEUTRAL READER.’’ This means neutral of gender AND RACE. 

Now tell me, do you NOT understand in your small narrow minded mind that WHITE ISN’T NEUTRAL? IT’S NOT STANDARD. 

NOT EVERYONE IS WHITE. A GENDER NEUTRAL READER IS NOT ALWAYS WHITE!

‘‘Ignore it,’‘ you say. I’d bet you’d be whining like a little baby if all the fanfictions SPECIFIED a race that isn’t YOURS, and blantantly IGNORE the fact that the author has classified it as NEUTRAL! ASSUMING THAT THE READER IS FROM AN ETHNIC BACKGROUND YOU’RE NOT.

You think we’re overreacting, making a big fuss over fanfiction. But you’re NOT UNDERSTANDING! WE HAVE BEEN IGNORED, GLOSSED OVER IN MEDIA FOR DECADES! IT’S NOT JUST FANFICTION, IT’S MOVIES, IT’S THE ENTIRE MEDIA.

And if you think this is okay, get the fuck off my blog. I won’t even blink an eye before deleting an ask I may get from a racist or ignorant anon. 

And to the last ask, ‘’Why don’t you write it for yourself?’’ We are. But just like how WE write neutral readers, WITHOUT EXCLUDING ANYONE, so should you. That’s why there’s fanfictions tagged with POC!READER, because you haven’t bothered to bring us representation. 

And then you're whining about how it doesn't apply to you. You never cared about representing us, so why would we pay an ounce of attention to you when all we're doing is creating representation for our community that you haven't done or done poorly?

Stop it. Stop TALKING before you even KNOW what you’re talking about! It just makes you look like an idiot. 

And the fact that you hide behind the ANON while spewing insults and curses towards the POC community? The fact that you can’t do it directly to our faces says a lot. It’s cowardly. 

You’re not doing anything but making yourself look like (not just look, CONFIRMING THAT YOU ARE) a coward, blatant ignorant person. So do yourself and everyone a favor and think a bit before you open your goddamn lips.
