Sorry I haven’t posted this sooner, I told caught a nasty cold last weekend and I had exams this week but I had to post this ASAP for those of you who have been patiently waiting for this update so I apologize in advance if this chapter is horrible.
Summary: Reader is adjusting into her new home and made some friends along the way. Although her relationship with Mr. J has improved, minor setbacks occur but lead to more. (a bit confusing but I don’t want to give anything away so read for more ;))
Warnings: mention of abuse, near death, and language
“J, pay attention!” His eyes didn’t move an inch from the paper he was studying.
“Come on, let’s do something.” You pleaded, wanting to get out of the mansion for some fresh air before going insane.
It’s been a couple of weeks since you’ve arrived in the Joker’s mansion. But life hasn’t been too brutal. You actually sorta became friends with him. Friends is too strong of a word; more like acquaintances with a few rough patches. He acknowledges you and the both of you share some information about your life, a few giggles and jokes here and there. Although, some days there’s no giggles, no jokes, but abuse. On those days you had to be extremely cautious with what you say. Life with him was unpredictable but you’ve only had a glimmer of what life with him contains.
“I’ve got work, (Y/N).” He growled, sitting in the exact same position. “But I wanna go outside and feel the fresh air on my skin.”
“Then open a window.” It was your turn to growl at him causing him to look up and meet your gaze for a split second before looking back down.
“I’ve been stuck in this damn house for weeks to the point where I might go insane!” You exclaimed dramatically. All you wanted was to go out and the only way he’ll ever let you is if he goes with you in order to keep an eye on you.
“Insanity might do you some do.” He joked while scribbling something on a sheet of paper. Before you could retort, a knock was placed from the other side of Mr. J’s office door.
“Sorry to bother you Mr. J, but your shipment has arrived at the warehouse.” Frost announced in a serious tone from the doorway. Mr. J simply nodded his head and stood up from his desk, making his out the door in a white button up with a black suit vest, form fitting black dress pants, and black Italian leather dress shoes. You couldn’t lie, he looked sexy. Just thinking about how good he looked made a soft blush reach your cheeks. Once you noticed the room was empty with only your presence in it, you huffed in dissatisfaction and raced after Mr. J and Frost.
Before they reached the end of the hall, you called out to Mr. J if anyone was going to watch you while he was out dealing with business and he simply answered with “Frost.” You skipped over to Frost who stood there waiting for you while Mr. J disappeared down the hall and linked arms with him.
“Yay! Now Frosty and I can go out while you’re gone!” You squealed in happiness and embraced Johnny’s arm for a short period of time. A loud growl was heard from down the hall along with a, “Like hell you are!” A light giggle came from you before you turned over to look at Johnny who had an expressionless face.
“Lighten up, Johnny Boy. Your boss is gone.” You placed both of your index fingers on the corners of his mouth and moved them upward to resemble a smile. He slowly lost all professionalism and smiled on his own.
“I swear you are going to get yourself killed from the amount of times you bother Mr. J.” He joked, letting out a light-hearted laugh.
“I just want to go out, Frosty. Is that too much to ask for?” You gave him your puppy dog eyes.
You’ve gotten close with some of J’s henchmen, Frost in particular. Whenever you had the chance, you conversed with him. The two of you could go on for hours discussing your lives outside of the mansion, well your life before finding Mr. J. You learned that Johnny has a wife and a 3 month old baby girl. You, being a baby-lover, always ask/beg to see pictures of her which he happily obliges. It took quite a while to break him from Mr. Professional but you managed to bring out the humorous man. Your personalities compliment each other, he was like the brother you never had and vice versa.
“Oh don't give me that look, short stack.” He warned only pressing you to go further and let out a small puppy whine. The sound broke him as he let out a huff and headed towards the garage, you following his lead with a grin of satisfaction and victory plastered on your face.
“Mr. J is going to kill us if he finds out.” A carefree laugh left your throat as you walked towards the car with a teddy bear in one hand and cotton candy in the other.
“Calm down, Johnny. The key word in your statement is ‘if’, Mr. J won't find out. Admit it, today was a blast.” You didn't give a damn if J finds out. Today was the most fun you've had in years. Medical school wasn't exactly thrilling and once you nailed a job, you decided to make up for lost exciting times. Unfortunately, your job was time consuming and tiresome so you rarely went out on the town until today.
“Alright I'm not gonna lie… the fair was amazing.” A wide grin broke out on both your faces probably from all the thrills and sugar and you sped your way home.
The laughter and joy melted away when you and Johnny spotted the purple Lamborghini in the garage next to an array of expensive luxury cars. We're screwed.
“Where the fuck were you two?!” The all too familiar voice of rage had you frozen with fear. The second you entered the house, you were bombarded by Mr. J and a couple of his henchmen.
“Look, it wasn't Johnny’s fault. I wanted to go-”
“I told you a thousand fucking times that you couldn't go out! Now you drag my men into your delusional mind to take you places!” At this point he was fuming. You were always one who hated conflicts and fights so him yelling directly in your face triggered tears to well up in your eyes.
“Mr. J, don't blame her for all of this. I was the one who agreed to take her. It was my decision.” The words that left Johnny’s mouth had you flabbergasted. Him taking partial blame for the situation was dangerous. He could most likely get fired or worse… killed. The mere thought of having to live in the spacious and utterly boring house alone without him to talk to made you lightheaded and nauseous.
“Well in that case…” The sound of a cocked gun aimed directly at Frost made hairs on the back of your neck stand.
“No! P-please don't do this J! It was all my fault. Completely my own doing. Punish me instead, just please d-don't kill him.” You stood shakingly in front of the object that could potentially end the life of your friend with the barrel of the gun pressed against your temple.
Your tear filled (E/C) eyes bored into the deadly man’s light sapphire eyes, silently pleading him to halt his wild actions.
“Both of you get the hell out of my sight.” He growled and lowered his deep purple designed gun with gold accents. Johnny and you quickly headed out of room and down the many halls until you reached your ‘bedroom’. A loud heavy sigh of relief left your lips and rested your head against the wall, still shaken up by what just went down in the living room.
“I’m so sorry, Johnny. I almost got you killed by my stupidity.” A fresh set of tears rolled down your cheeks as you admitted this entire situation could have been avoided if you just stayed put in the damn house.
“It’s not your fault, (Y/N). You saved my life and for that I thank you.” You let out a choked out giggle of appreciation and engulfed him in a sweet friendly embrace.
The moonlight illuminated your dingy cell while you laid on your sad excuse for a bed. After tossing and turning for hours you decided to just give up and think. Thinking about everything that has happened to you since you’ve gotten here. You don’t understand how he can go from Joking J to Killer J. He’s got issues but so does everyone else in the world. You wish that he would open up to you and tell you what’s going on in that damn mind of his. Just thinking about him frustrates you. He is unlike any man you’ve ever met. But maybe that’s a good thing. There are so many assholes, liars, and cheaters in the world but he is completely different. He is a mixture of personalities in one man which confuses and intrigues you.
You jumped out of bed huffing and stormed out of your grimy room. Ugh I gotta get some sleep. Maybe a nice steaming cup of tea will help ease my mind and body. You made a beeline to the kitchen and filled the kettle with some water and let it heat up.
After looking around the open spaced room filled with luxurious furniture, you spotted a light peeking underneath the door of Mr. J’s office. Out of nowhere you grew the courage to knock on his door. Strangely you wanted to discuss what happened earlier that day.
“Ugh who the hell is it? I'm fucking business!” Oh no he's in a pissy mood. You gently called out it was you and asked if you could take a moment of his time. He never responded back so you took that as an invitation. Once you stepped into his office, the atmosphere felt heavy with his eyes fixated on you and the soft amber glow from the candles dispersed around the room.
“I saw your office light on and wanted to talk to you.” He gave me a look edging me to go on.
“I wanted to apologize for disobeying you. It was foolish of me to leave without your approval.” He simply hummed in agreement. Since he didn't seem mad, you continued. “I wouldn't have left in the first place if you just took me instead. You actually leave this house while I just sit here twiddling my thumbs bored out of my mind!”
“Don't push it.” He threatened me with a menacing look on his face. Oh hell no.
“Don't threaten me. You act all high and mighty when you just distract yourself with business because you have no one to actually talk to! You have no friends since you don't open up to a single being. I try being your friend but you don't tell me anything. And Frost has been with you for years yet you still treat him like shit! He has been nothing but loyal to you and kind to me yet you tried to kill him today! What made you so pissed that you held a gun to his head?!” At this point you were angry and raised your voice at him for the first time.
The murderous look Mr. J had on could send anyone running in the opposite direction from him. He suddenly slammed his fists against his desk, emitting a loud noise that probably was heard even outside the house.
“YOU WANNA KNOW WHAT PISSED ME OFF?!” He stalked towards you and in 5 large steps, he was face to face with you and your back pressed against the door.
“You did! You had the fucking nerve to leave when I SPECIFICALLY told you you couldn’t go out without me!” His face was flaming red and spewing out words.
“And I apologized! But instead of putting a gun to my head you put it against Johnny’s.” Your faces were so close that your noses were almost touching. But after your retort he rolled his neck as if he was holding something back. That was the last straw.
“What?! What aren’t you telling me? WHAT ARE YOU SO DAMN AFRAID OF?!” You repeating poked his chest harshly in order to get something out of him. Anything.
Abruptly, he pinned your hands against the door and smashed his lips onto yours. Your body felt like electricity was running through your veins. You felt your heart drop and start beating rapidly in your stomach. Your mind went foggy as your stood there being kissed on your virgin lips. Slowly but surely you responded back until you were both out of breath.
“J…” You breathed out and stared into his expressionless eyes. The grip on your wrists were gone and moved into your hair as you were pulled into another earth-shattering kiss. This time you responded back immediately and desperately. Your arms wrapped around his neck and hid your fingers into his bright neon green locks. His lips felt like soft velvet against yours, only urging you to pull him closer towards you. A low moan left his mouth and one arm snaked around your waist, pulling you closer towards his body; if that was even possible.
Suddenly, the door behind you moved open causing the two of you to break the lip lock early and step away from the door. One of his henchmen entered the room with a pleased look on his face.
