“That was a nice dinner, Reg. I’m glad that you agreed to speak to me again.”
Sirius said with a grin as he closed the door behind him. After not speaking to each other in years, Regulus had finally approached Sirius about making up. Sirius knew that it was no easy feat for Regulus either. For Regulus Black to apologize about anything was about as rare as seeing a unicorn.
Something told Sirius that you were partially behind the apology too. After you gave birth to Regulus’ son, you had been trying to gently nudge Regulus in the direction of speaking to his brother again. You had been the one to approach Siruis after Walburga died. Apparently both Regulus and Orion were debating on if they should have went along with Walburga or not. It took maybe two months and Regulus turned up at Sirius’ door.
“You’re welcome. Please don’t push your luck.”
Regulus commented as Orion got up from the couch. He was happy to be talking to Sirius again too (even if he wouldn’t say it). There were still somethings that Regulus wasn’t totally comfortable with. You sat down next to Remus on the couch.
“You lot are back earlier than I thought.”
Regulus nodded, glancing around for Oliver. It wasn’t often that Regulus asked Orion to watch his grandson and he was about to remember why.
“Yes, our reservation was moved up. Where is Oliver?”
Orion glanced over his shoulder. Oliver had been one good little boy. He reminded Orion so much of Regulus as a child. It was like seeing the little star of the family all over again.
“I think he went to the lavatory. He’s a good kid. I only had to spank him the one time.”
A dead silence quickly overtook the room. Both Regulus and yourself turned to Orion with a frown while Sirius muttered “oh fuck” under his breath. You turned to your father-in-law speaking before Regulus lost his shit.
“Orion, you shouldn’t have done that.”
Orion shrugged.
“My shoulder is fine.”
Regulus rubbed a hand over his face before counting to ten.
“Father, we never spank Oliver! What were you thinking.”
Orion sat back down.
“No wonder he looked so surprised.”
Regulus started to get loud right away. You gently put a hand on his chest hoping to calm him down.
“Orion, what happened?”
“I told him to clean his toys up. He said make me so I did.”
Regulus growled. This was the last thing that he wanted to deal with. After growing up in a house where he was hit on the regular basis the last thing that he wanted was for Oliver to grow up that way. Normally all it took was for Regulus to give Oliver a glare and the little boy was doing exactly what was asked of him.
“Father, again we do not spank our son. Haven’t you learned from the way that Sirius and I were raised that spanking a kid doesn’t do any good? We don’t want Oliver to be afraid of us.”
“Alright, Regulus you made your point.”
Orion rolled his eyes and moved to take a sip of his tea. He got up and walked over to the coat closet. Halfway through putting on his coat, Orion turned to look at you. You hadn’t said much since a few moments before. Orion wasn’t a fool either. He knew that you were not about to push Regulus when he was angry. No one wanted to deal with that.
“Y/n, dear, may I ask you a question?”
You nodded as Regulus walked over to Sirius muttering something in French. Sirius elbowed his brother to pay attention to what their father was saying. While things with Orion had gotten better, Sirius still didn’t exactly trust his father 100%.
“Does Regulus pick up his socks?”
“Yes.”
You replied. Orion held his hand up before opening the door.
“You’re welcome.”
When Orion was gone, Regulus turned to look at you before shaking hs hand. Running a hand through his hair, Regulus went off in search of something stronger to drink.
“Never again! That crazy old man is not watching our son again! I am about to put dad in a home.”
Sirius and Remus were looking at each other with wide eyes. Chuckling, Sirius turned to look at you.
“Regulus used to hate picking up his socks. Dad let it go for a little bit. When Mum finally bitched about it enough, Dad unfortunalty let Regulus have it.”
Regulus came back into the room with Oliver behin him.
“Sit down.”
Regulus said calmly. Oliver sat down on the couch looking up with Regulus with a smile.
“What did I do?”
Regulus knelt down in front of his son with a sigh.
“Why did you say make me to grandpa when he told you to clean up your toys?”
Oliver shrugged.
“I thought it would make him laugh and he didn’t.”
Regulus nodded as you moved to sit on your son’s other side. You gently stroked Oliver’s hair out of his eyes.
“Oliver, I believe you know that when you are told to do something, you are supposed to do it.”
Regulus nodded in agreement.
“Sorry, son, but grandpa doesn’t find anything funny. Your mum is right, though. When you are told to do something, you need to do it. Now go upstairs and get ready for bed.”
Oliver nodded, sticking his bottom lip out before going upstairs. You gave Regulus a look that said, “do not be a pushover.”
Regulus shook his head before standing up and going back to his drink. Sirius elbowed Remus in the side before turning back to his brother.

_______
You stood close to Regulus as Remus led the way up the stairs and into a bedroom. While you were relieved that Sirius and Remus were more than kind to the two of you...you couldn't help but still be uneasy. Maybe in time, your nervous nature would ease...but that wasn't going to be today or tomorrow. Regulus squeezed your hand. Without saying it, he knew that you were worried.
“The two of you can do whatever you like with the room since you live here now.”
Remus commented in a soft voice. You gave him a polite thank you as he turned to leave the room. Remus stopped in the doorway and turned. He wanted to say something inspirational but the shock of the evening took his logical thoughts away. Looking at the two of you, Remus felt sad. Neither Regulus nor yourself looked ready to start a marriage. The two of you looked like children who were thrown into something that neither was entirely ready for.
“Can either of you cook?
Remus finally asked. Regulus gave him a confused frown before shaking his head. You nodded.
“I can. Why?”
You asked. Remus shrugged.
“Because Sirius and I are pathetic and always tend to catch things on fire. It will be nice to have something edible from time to time. “
“I can help with that. The two of you won't be going hungry now."
You replied. Remus smiled and walked out of the room. There would be time for more questions later. For now, it appeared the two of you needed some form of actual rest. Sleeping with one’s eyes open could only happen for so long.
Once the door closed, you turned back to Regulus who was silently laughing to himself.
“What?”
You questioned as Regulus moved to sit down on the bed.
“Oh, nothing…simply the image of those two attempting to cook something is hilarious. I can see Sirius running about holding a flaming potato in a pot asking Remus what to do with it.”
You chuckled too as you moved to sit down beside Regulus. This had been the first real moment of peace the two of you had in some time.
Regulus’ smile faded as his typical serious expression returned.
“Do you regret it? Marrying me and ending up here like this…”
You reached over and wrapped your hand around his before settling yourself on his lap.
“Not in the slightest. Regulus, like it or not, we would have had to do this at some point regardless. If we were going to be together, we never would have been able to have a proper engagement and wedding. Your parents would have never allowed it and neither would have my father. We can always have a wedding later with the people that we care about and if we don’t…that is okay too. We don’t have to have some kind of spectacle of a thing to be happy.”
Regulus gave you a small smile. His grey eyes were focused on your face looking for any sign of unhappiness. Regulus was relieved when he didn’t see any. It would have been just another slap if he knew that you were “potentially” unhappy over him.
“Yeah, we aren’t really a making something of a spectacle kind of people. You are right. We would have had to do things this way. It wouldn’t matter if we are 16 or 26. My parents will never change nor will your father. It will never matter how good I am to you…it will never be good enough for him. To your father, I will always be some snobby boy with a bad attitude.”
“And I’ll always be some half-blood devil.”
You added. Regulus moved to lay you back on the bed. Taking his place on top of you, Regulus held your hands over the top of your head. Snuggling his face into your neck, he took a deep breath. The sweet scent of your rose perfume had always been so comforting.
“I suppose there are worse things to be.”
You were quiet for a few moments before the thought of Regulus’ admission of being a potential death eater returned.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
You finally asked. Regulus sat up on his knees giving you a careful look. He knew exactly what you were talking about. Regulus had been expecting this rather uncomfortable conversation for some time.
From the start of the war, you were worried about Walburga trying to get Regulus involved with Voldemort in some fashion. Regulus had always tried to keep your mind at ease but deep down you knew…and Regulus knew it. He wanted to protect you as long as he could...even if it was from himself. Unfortunately, that ended today.
While this wasn’t the conversation that Regulus wanted to have on his wedding night. There was no getting around it. Running hand through his hair, Regulus sighed.
“Because I didn’t want you to worry more than you already were. You knew and I suppose, in my own way, I was trying to protect you.”
You sat up and looked around the room before speaking.
“I understand that but you still should have told me. We could have gotten the fuck out of there a long time ago. What are we going to do when they come after us? You know that will be coming.”
Regulus frowned.
“Let them come. It will be a cold day in hell before I ever go back to that place.”
(the next morning)
Remus was making a cup of tea when Sirius stepped into the room
“I suppose the happy couple are still sleeping?”
Sirius asked before sitting down. Remus passed him a cup of tea before giving him a cold glare.
“Yes and from the looks of them proper rest is probably something that they need.”
Sirius nodded.
“Yeah…probably so. I have to say I am impressed with my brother. I always had this feeling that he would turn out like dad. That boy just burned all of the pages from that book. I also want to thank Y/n. She has been the one that made Regulus grow up.”
Remus swirled the spoon in his tea before humming in agreement. Sirius was right about that one. If someone had told Remus days before this would be happening, he would have laughed in their face. While Remus had always hoped that Regulus was “good deep down” he hadn’t seen much to prove it. Now…everything was different.
Remus could see how Regulus watched you. He knew that look in his eyes. That was the look that Sirius gave him. It was that look that, while expressing feelings vocally could be hard, said everything Remus needed to hear. Regulus loved you.
“What do we do when your parents turn up looking for him? You know this isn’t over.”
Remus questioned. A dark look formed on Sirius’ face. He was quiet for a moment before the doorbell rang.
“We kill them and bury them in the back garden. That's probably James and Lily.”
Remus chuckled before taking a sip of his tea. Killing Walburga and Orion and then burying them in the back garden was something everyone could probably agree too.
A few seconds later, Sirius returned with James and Lily. While the times were dark, James never seemed to lose his smile. Plopping down, he looked between Sirius and Remus. Right away, James knew something was going on. He only hoped they hadn’t lost another member of the order. There had been too many deaths and disappearances lately,
“So, what is going on?”
Sirius sat down before smirking.
“How do you feel about killing someone and burying them in the back garden?”
James’ smile faded and was replaced with a confused expression.
“I don’t think we could bury Voldemort in the back garden.”
Lily gave James an annoyed scowl while Remus shook his head. Sirius sighed.
“I’m not talking about him. I mean my parents. Do you think we could put them under enough dirt and crap where they won’t be missed?”
James scratched his head.
“I, mean, sure…we could. Are you having a hard time with them again or something?”
Sirius shook his head before nodding.
“Not at the moment but it will be coming along…let me explain why. We have two new order members.”
Lily frowned, trying to figure out where this conversation was going.
“What do two new order members and your parents have in common?”
She asked, trying to make sense. Sirius smirked.
“Its Regulus and Y/n.”
The room went silent while James and Lily stared at each other before turning back to Sirius. They were clearly thinking that Sirius was messing with them.
“Regulus and Y/n?”
Lily questioned again. Remus nodded.
“Yes. Regulus and Y/n are on our side now.”
James turned back to Sirius.
“Did hell freeze over and we weren’t made aware?”
Sirius shook his head.
“They turned up here late last night. Mum knocked the cream cheese out of Regulus again. He has finally had enough of their crap. I am thankful that he finally woke up before getting sucked into that mess. There is more. The death eaters have been trying to recruit him. Thankfully, he was smart enough to say no…but they could have.”
James ran a hand over his face while Lily gasped. Both James and Lily had talked about Regulus being the perfect target for the death eaters. Now, once again, they were right about something.
“Bloody hell. I’m glad he said no and came here. It looks like there is hope for him after all.”
James said in a stunned voice. Sirius nodded and stood up.
“There is more.”
Lily had sat down beside James and was still trying to take in the information that she was just given.
“What more is there?”
She asked. Sirius glanced over his shoulder. He didn’t want either Regulus nor yourself to walk in while being the topic of discussion.
“Regulus and Y/n got married.”
James and Lily looked even more stunned. Lily’s mouth dropped while James did math in his head.
“But they are 16?”
Remus nodded.
“They are.”
Sirius had gone back to his tea for a moment before speaking.
“They lied on the application. I understand why they did it. They felt like they had no choice. My parents will never accept them and apparently, Y/n’s father isn’t too fond of Regulus. I couldn’t turn them away. They need someone who is in their corner. Regardless of what happened with my family, Regulus had nothing to do with it.”
James frowned.
“He never spoke to you after you left. That is saying a lot if you ask me.”
Sirius frowned. While he and James didn’t argue often, Regulus would be the topic that Sirius would “flip a table” over.
“He did what he had to, James. He had to keep himself safe living in that house. I’m not asking you to become his best friend but I am asking you to give the two of them a chance.”
James was quiet a moment before nodding. He didn’t have a problem with you. You had always been nothing but kind to James. There had been many times that James wanted to ask what exactly you saw in Regulus but he never did.
“Fine. That doesn’t mean that I am not going to be keep an eye on them.”

____
An hour later, you stood outside of what must have been Sirius’ home. You weren't sure how Regulus had found the address. In the time that Sirius had been gone from the Black family, Regulus never uttered his brother’s name. Something told you that it wasn’t out of anger from Sirius’ departure. It was probably to keep himself safe. That made sense now.
“Regulus, what are we going to tell him?”
You asked. Regulus stood staring at the door. He was nervous about facing his brother but didn’t understand why. Regulus never blamed Sirius for leaving. He was a little moody that Sirius didn’t take him with him when he left but he understood Sirius’ reasoning. Sirius didn’t have a safe place for Regulus to tag along to. He also couldn’t ask the Potters to take in two children unexpectedly.
“The truth. He’s my brother. He’ll understand.”
“And if he doesn’t?”
You questioned. While you never had an issue with Sirius, you were unsure if he would be willing to entertain the idea of letting the two of you stay. Would you be putting him in an uncomfortable position? Would you be asking too much?
Regulus squeezed your hand.
“Then we will figure something out. Please don’t worry. You know that I will never let anything happen to you.”
“I know that, love.”
You replied as Regulus knocked on the door.
“It will be fine.”
Regulus murmured as the door opened.
Sirius’ mouth dropped the moment that he saw the two of you. Clearly, this was the LAST thing that he ever expected to happen.
“Regulus? Y/n?”
Sirius was stunned, to say the least. He thought after leaving to go to the Potter’s, his brother wanted nothing to do with him. Now here he stood…with an extremely bruised face.
Regulus took a breath before speaking.
“Hi, Sirius. We need your help.”
Sirius continued to stare stupidly at Regulus for a few moments before remembering that he could speak.
“Come inside.”
He managed to get out before moving out of the way. Sirius’ eyes dropped to Regulus’s hand that was still wrapped around yours.
Good. They are still together.
You were one of the few things that Sirius was glad Regulus held onto. If there could be one good thing in Regulus’ life you were it. You were the good example that Regulus needed to follow.
Sirius led the two of you into a small sitting room where Remus sat with a book on his lap. When he noticed Regulus and yourself step in, he automatically frowned and closed said book.
Regulus was no fool. He knew that Remus saw his face. That was going to be the topic of discussion until the bruising healed and he looked normal again.
“Okay, what in the hell is going on? What happened to your face?”
Sirius asked, sitting down on the arm of the couch beside Remus. Regulus sighed.
“I think you know what happened to my face.”
Sirius was on his feet in an instant and began pacing. He was totally enraged! Walburga was hitting Regulus again. Sirius had hoped that since he left, his parents would use that as a reason to treat Regulus better. Clearly, that was not the case.
“Why is she hitting you?”
Regulus shrugged. He hated that he had to say this in front of you. He knew that you probably had a feeling but that didn't make saying it in your presence any easier.
“Mum doesn’t approve of Y/n. I told her that I wasn’t going to give her up to marry some dolt that they picked out for me. After that…she really let me have it.”
Your hand tightened around Regulus’.
"If I didn’t hate Walburga before. I have a reason now.”
You thought as Sirius ran a hand through his hair.
“There is nothing wrong with Y/n. The two of you have been together since you were fucking 12. I couldn’t have picked a better girl for you. She has made you less…Black family like. I should go over and beat the hell out of dad and see how they like it.”
You gave Sirius a thankful smile as he continued on a rage filled tangent for a few moments. Regulus waited a moment before speaking. He knew that Sirius would be angry. If there was another thing that Regulus could give his brother credit for it was his protective nature. It didn’t matter how old Regulus was, Sirius always kept a protective eye on him.
“That is why I married her.”
Silence filled the room. Sirius had stopped his raging and fell back down onto the couch while Remus’ mouth dropped again. Remus was the first to speak this time.
“How did you marry her? The two of you are 16 years old. “
Regulus groaned.
“We lied! You don’t grow up in the Black family without stretching the truth on something.”
Remus muttered “oh shit” under his breath while Sirius moved to the edge of the couch.
“The two of you are 16.”
“Yes, we know.”
Regulus replied.
“What do either of you know about being married? What if you change your mind?”
“We won’t.”
Regulus again replied. Sirius took a breath.
“What do you want me to say?”
Regulus held his hands up.
“I wanted you to know. I would have felt silly just showing up and not saying anything! Look, I married Y/n because I love her. If she and I are married, mum and dad won’t be able to split us up. I’m not going to change my mind and neither is Y/n. We will both be legal in a few months. I know it may sound crazy to you two but to us it felt right. I had to keep Y/n safe too. Her dad is as bad as mum. I couldn’t stand by anymore and see her being hurt.”
Sirius looked between Regulus and yourself with a sad expression. This was another thing that he didn’t see coming. He didn’t expect Regulus to get married until he was made to. Whether it be to you or someone else, Regulus wasn’t one to step outside of his comfy little bubble that he made for himself.
Remus stopped his pacing and turned to face the two of you.
“You both realize how serious this is, right? Not only serious, but it will be difficult. Most marriages that start this young won’t last. Statistically…”
Regulus immediately cut Remus off.
“I know the statistics but we will be different. I simply need the two of you to have some faith in us. I also need help staying safe from mum and dad…not only mum and dad…”
Sirius frowned again.
“Who else is there?”
Regulus pressed his lips together.
“There is more that I haven’t told you. The death eaters have been trying to recruit me for some time now. You know there are only so many times that you can say no to those people.”
Regulus ignored the look of pain on your face. He hadn’t exactly told you about the death eaters trying to recruit him. You weren’t surprised. With the way the Blacks supported Voldemort and all of the dark magic Regulus knew it was only a matter of time. The dark lord probably saw a load of potential in Regulus…a potential that you didn’t want to think of.
Sirius was on his feet again.
“Nope, you aren’t going back. No way in hell are you going back…fuck it. I’ll go tell mum that she can take a toaster to the bathtub. Neither of you are going back to this shit.”
Remus nodded in agreement. He had a dark feeling that the dark lord would, at some point, find something good in Regulus. Remus has only been hoping that he would be wrong.
“The two of you can stay here. It would only make sense.”
You decided it was your time to speak. From the moment that Regulus had come to whisk you away, you had felt that your life was spiraling. You needed to regain some control.
“We can help too with whatever you have going on. We don’t want to be part of the problem that is happening in our world.”
Sirius nodded.
“The two of you are adult enough to get married so I think you are old enough to make a decision on who you support. I will warn you that it isn’t always easy…sometimes it's dangerous.”
“You can’t stop a madman sitting at home knitting a scarf.”
You replied. Sirius focused his attention back on your hand. Right away he noticed the engagement ring that his grandmother had specifically given to Regulus.
“No, you can’t. What is going to happen when your parents come looking for the two of you. Are you going to say that you love each other and that's what it's all about?”
You smirked at your now brother-in-law.
“No, that is the hokey pokey. We’ll figure it out when it happens. You made it when you ran away. I think we will be able to also.”
Sirius wanted to argue. He wanted to say that he knew it wouldn’t be that easy. Walburga and Orion would probably put up more of a fight for Regulus. Sirius always felt like he was the “practice” kid while Regulus was the son that they had always wanted. Regulus was the one that they seemed to not make most of the same mistakes with.
Regulus focused his attention back on his brother while absentmindedly stroking his thumb over your palm.
“I don’t care what mum and dad have to say. I will do whatever I can to keep us safe.”
Sirius was satisfied enough with that response. It appeared that Regulus was not being selfish. He was no longer the arrogant self-absorbed child that he used to be. It appeared that he had finally grown up.
“One question?”
Sirius asked as Regulus turned back to him.
“Yes?
“Is she pregnant?”
Both Regulus and yourself shook your heads. That was one of the LAST things that you even wanted to think of. Children had been something that you had discussed with Regulus. At the time, that was something that neither of you were interested in.
“We can barely take care of ourselves. It would be foolish to even think of such a thing.”
You commented.
“I don’t even like kids.”
Regulus added. While he didn’t mind taking care of you, the thought of another being so dependent on him for every small thing sounded absolutely miserable. He also didn’t want to entertain the thought of losing his precious sleep. Being up in the middle of the night with some angry human screaming at you while you were sleep-deprived was a horror that Regulus didn’t even want to entertain.
Both Sirius and Remus were relieved to hear that.
“Well, you are the responsible one.”
Sirius commented before leaning back into the couch. For the first time in a while, he was feeling somewhat better with the events happening.
“It's settled then. The two of you can stay here. You can stay as long as you would like.”
“Thank you.”
Regulus said as Remus turned to the doorway.
“Come on. I’ll show you to the guest room.”
Once the three of you were out of the room, Sirius ran a hand over his face feeling even more exhausted. He hated knowing that the two of you were having to grow up so fast but, unfortunately, it was just another sign of the times.
“Well, he’s not a little boy anymore.”
(meanwhile at Grimmauld Place)
Walburga sat in her sitting room, stirring a cup of tea. She was seething in anger after the altercation with Regulus.
Just what does he think he is doing falling in love with some halfblood? That boy was raised better. He knows better than to associate with scum. I’ll just have to beat it out of him. I can break him.
Walburga thought coldly. While she adored her youngest son, she was not about to let him throw his life away for a woman not worthy of him. She would not sit back and watch a half blood leach onto the family name and fortune. The family had worked too long and too hard to deviate from their Toujours Pur motto.
Why the men in this family must be so weak is beyond me.
She thought coldly. Men in the Black family being “weak” had been Walburga’s soapbox for a long time. From her brother Alphard to even her husband, Walburga constantly called the lot of them weak. Now, her baby was even stepping into that thought process.
Like his useless weakling of a father, he can’t say no to a pretty face.
Walburga was certain that she could find Regulus a suitable pureblood girl to marry. He didn’t have to love her. Regulus could hate her for all Walburga cared. He did, however, have a role to complete. Since her blood traitor of a son left the family, everything fell on Regulus. Walburga had a strange feeling anyway that Regulus would be the one to complete everything anyway.
“Walburga?”
Her brooding was interrupted when Orion stepped into her sitting room. Glaring at her husband, Walburga didn’t like when her “me time” was interrupted.
“What is it?”
She snapped. Orion immediately rolled his eyes. Why he put up with so much from this bitch of a woman was still a mystery of itself.
Oh, right. I have to.
Orion thought coldly before speaking.
“I was curious, did you let Regulus go out after we told him that he was to stay home?”
Walburga frowned.
“I told him to stay in his room until he was ready to admit that he was wrong and wanted to apologize. Why do you ask?”
Orion shrugged.
“I just came from his room and he isn’t there.”
Walburga’s typical frown intensified as she got up and started for the stairs.
“Regulus!”
She screeched his name as she practically kicked the door open. Walburga had been hoping that Orion was simply not opening his eyes properly and Regulus would be sitting on his bed. Unfortunately, it appeared that her head was right.
Inside Regulus’ room, everything was just as it had been. The bed was neatly made and all of Regulus’ belongings in orderly places. The only thing missing was Regulus himself.
Walburga walked around the room looking for any signs of her youngest son’s whereabouts. Finding nothing, Walburga turned to scowl at Orion.
“Have you checked the rest of the house?”
Again Orion rolled his eyes. This was yet another reason why he absolutely hated the woman that he was married to. She was downright ignorant. Walburga seemed to take pride in trying to make him feel as dumb as she was but always failed miserably.
“If you think that I am too stupid to take the initiative to look all over the house before I come to check with you then you are most welcome to scour the house yourself. I’ll be in my study when you discover that I am correct in my assessment that Regulus is missing.”
Walburga growled before shouting Kreacher’s name. A moment passed before the old house elf popped into the room.
“You called, my mistress?”
Walburga turned to the elf.
“Kreacher, where is Regulus?”
Kreacher looked hesitant for a moment. He knew exactly what Regulus was doing and didn’t want to out him. Kreacher knew, sadly, he had no choice but to tell Walburga the truth.
“Master Regulus has left. He said that he was leaving. Master Regulus didn’t exactly say where.”
Kreacher decided to slightly embellish that he didn’t know where Regulus was going. He knew. Kreacher had seen Regulus take the engagement ring from the desk drawer. If Regulus was going anywhere, it was to you.
Walburga stood motionless for a moment before screaming. Both Kreacher and Orion jumped slightly. Neither party was expecting that loud of a noise so suddenly.
Neither said anything for a few moments as Walburga stood stewing in her rage. Walburga immediately stomped over to the desk where the engagement ring lay. She hoped that she was wrong but something told her to check on her mother’s ring.
Pulling the drawer open, Walburga felt around until a small velvet box touched her fingertips. She quickly pulled the box out and opened it. Just as she suspected, there was nothing in the box. Her mother’s ring was gone just like her youngest child.
“He took the ring.”
“What ring?”
Orion questioned as Walburga turned. She glared at him as if he was the single most stupid being on the earth. Throwing the empty box at her husband’s chest, Walburga started yelling at Orion again.
“My mother’s ring, you fool! The engagement ring that she left Regulus is gone! He has probably taken it and ran off with that half blood bitch!”
Summary: Growing up in abusive homes has finally reached its breaking point. Regulus comes to run away with you in the middle of the night. Its time for a new life.
____
It was late at night when you heard a soft knock on the front door. Looking up from the book that you had been reading, you knew that knock. That was Regulus. You frowned as you stood up and looked at the clock on the wall. 12:45. It was late for Regulus to come over without any warning.
Walking to the door, you were thankful that your father had passed out drunk. Your very mentally abusive father was usually out cold by 10:00. If he knew that Regulus was there, things would get terrible quickly. Your father hated everything about Regulus, to begin with.
The moment you opened the door, Regulus reached out and grabbed your wrist. Tugging you down the steps, Regulus didn’t say a word until you stopped walking.
“Regulus, what are you doing?”
You questioned, glancing over your shoulder to make sure your father hadn’t heard anything. Regulus stopped and glanced over his shoulder. He took a breath before turning to face you.
In the darkness, you couldn’t see his full face but something told you that he was beaten up too.
“Come on Y/n, we are getting out of here. I have had enough. We aren’t dealing with our parent’s shit anymore.”
Regulus quickly tugged you toward a parked car. Opening the door, he quickly ushered you into the passenger side before hurting to the driver's side. You sat quietly processing everything that had just happened.
“Where did you get a car?”
Regulus kept his grey eyes on the road in front of him.
“Stole it. That is all that you need to know.”
You blinked, again taking everything in.
“Regulus, I am going to have to ask questions. I didn’t even know that you could drive.”
“Having Sirius for an older brother isn’t as bad as one would have thought.”
Regulus replied. He was still going on sheer adrenaline. After the epic showdown with his parents, he wasn’t sure when his normal thinking would return. When he did return to his normal thinking, Regulus wasn’t sure how he would process everything he did. At the moment, however, he didn’t care. All he cared about was getting the two of you out of dodge.
“Regulus, will you please tell me what the hell is going on outside of running away? I am a little freaked out.”
You gasped when Regulus swerved the car to the shoulder of the road. He sat quietly for a moment before turning to face you. When he turned, you suddenly understood everything. Half of Regulus’ perfect face was bruised and swollen.
“Reggie…”
You managed to squeak out as he reached for your hand. His long fingers gently traced over your palm.
“I know. It looks awful. I am tired of our parents beating on us, Y/n. Neither one of us deserves this shit and I am putting an end to it now. We will be 17 soon and we will be able to legally decide our fate. I am terrified that if we wait much longer, one of us may be killed. Again, we are getting the fuck out of here before that could happen.”
Regulus was relieved when you nodded and appeared in agreement.
“You’re right. I am tired of seeing what your bitch of a mother does to you.”
Regulus sighed.
“I told her about us. She flipped the fuck out because you aren’t a pureblood. Apparently, she is trying to arrange a marriage with one of the other snots in my family’s circle. If we stay here, we will never be able to be together. I am not giving you up for some pureblood bitch that I have no interest in.”
As Regulus suspected, you appeared to be completely horrified. You knew that you wouldn’t be good enough for Walburga. That was common sense 101 to you but you never expected her to totally beat Regulus over it.
“You’re right. We have to get out of here. Regulus, what are we going to do?”
Regulus leaned his head back into the headrest and was silent for a moment.
“I have my inheritance from my uncle. He gave it to me some time ago in case I needed to make a quick getaway. I have an idea. Let's just get married. That way if my stupid parents catch us, they won't be able to do a goddamn thing.”
You found yourself staring at Regulus again. This was the most un-Regulus Black thing that you had ever heard come out of his mouth. You had the feeling that Regulus would take some time to propose. Doing it before you were even legally able to do so was totally unexpected.
“Regulus, we are 16. There is no way we would be able to…”
Regulus cut you off by holding his hand up.
“We lie. People lie all the time and we can be one of them. Please Y/n. The only way that everyone will know that we aren’t going to give each other up is if we get married.”
Regulus was relieved when you finally smiled.
“You have definitely put some thought into this. I think you are right. I don’t want us to get married to give our parents the middle finger. I want to marry you because I love you and you are the only person that I could ever picture myself with.”
Regulus gave you the small smile that he only reserved for you.
“Is that a yes, Regulus. I will marry you?”
Leaning across the seats, you gently kissed his cheek.
“Yes, Regulus. I will marry you.”
Regulus pulled you into a soft kiss. Regardless of the moment being rather shitty and the day being horrible…this was exactly what he needed. Breathing in your scent, Regulus felt comforted knowing that his mother would never be able to force the two of you apart.
Reaching into his shirt pocket, Regulus took out the engagement ring that his grandmother had given to him years ago with the instructions to give it to the right girl. He wasn’t sure if his grandmother Irma would be happy with his choice of the right girl but Regulus also didn’t care.
“Good, because I didn’t know what else to say.”
Regulus commented before slipping the ring onto your finger. You smiled looking down at the emerald and diamond engagement ring. Regulus didn’t have to tell you to know that this was a family heirloom. This would be yet another fuck you to the Blacks that you would enjoy. The perfect ring would be on your finger while you were married to their perfect heir.
“It's beautiful, Regulus. I love it.”
Regulus nodded.
“And it fits your finger perfectly.”
You moved to lay your head on his shoulder.
“Where are we going to go? You know, after we get married.”
Regulus looked thoughtful for a moment.
“I know where Sirius lives with Remus. We can stay with them until we come up with something more permanent. It wouldn’t be until after we get out of school so that gives us some time.”
“I think we would be safe with Sirius. I know the two of you didn’t part on good terms but he is still your brother.”
Regulus frowned. You were right. He didn’t part on good terms with Sirius. In fact, their last words were down right icy. Regulus would have to do something that he hated doing…apologizing. He knew that he would have to tell Sirius that he was right about everything. That would be a lot like eating dirt but it would have to be done.
I have to apologize to him to have a safe place for Y/n.
Regulus’ grey eyes fluttered back to you. You were busy admiring your engagement ring with a smile on your pretty face. Regulus sighed.
There is nothing that I wouldn’t do for her.
Taking a breath, Regulus sighed.
“You’re right. We didn’t part on good terms but Sirius is my brother. You of all people know that I hate admitting that I am wrong about anything but I was wrong for how I dealt with him.”
You squeezed Regulus’ hand again.
“It's all minor details that we can fix. Now where are we going to get married?”
Regulus started the car and pulled back onto the road.
“I was thinking about the next town over. No one there knows us. It will be easier to get in and out. I only feel guilty that I am not giving you the wedding that you deserve.”
“That is only a minor detail, love. We can always have a wedding later.”
Twenty minutes later, you stood beside Regulus as he filled out the marriage license. The lady at the window had gone off to file some paperwork as if it were just another day. She didn’t seem very interested when the two of you asked to be married. This was just another day at her boring job. The only thing that seemed to spark her interest was the bruise on Regulus’ face.
“Do you think she suspects that we aren’t old enough?”
You whispered. Regulus’ eyes rolled up to the woman as she walked out to find someone to do the ceremony part.
“I think she could care less. Remember, we are being liars. I’m 17 and you're 17.”
You nodded as an older man walked up. He took the certificate while looking between Regulus and yourself.
“Are you the two looking to get married?”
Regulus nodded.
“Yes, we are.”
The older man frowned.
“How old are the two of you?”
Regulus was a lot more confident than you at the moment.
“We are 17 and old enough.”
The man again looked between Regulus and yourself. He wasn’t a fool. In his 30+ years of being in his job, he had seen enough kids sneaking to get married. This appeared to be yet another one of those cases but something also felt different. Whether it be the rough state that Regulus was in or the nervous expression on your face, something told him that this was a big deal.
“Indeed you are. Come with me.”
The next fifteen minutes were a blur for you. You wished that you could have enjoyed the moment a little more. Part of you was worried that Walburga and Orion would burst into the room before everything could be completed. If they did, you knew that they would kill Regulus. You noticed that Regulus had one eye on the door too. Clearly, he was having the same thought process as you.
Regulus felt bad that he wasn’t as present in the moment as he had hoped he would be. Feeling on edge and barely paying attention seemed like a shitty way to start your lives together. The only thing making Regulus feel somewhat okay was the promise that he could give you something better later.
Mum and Dad won’t be able to do shit now. I no longer care about the Black family legacy. I don’t care what any family member has to say about Y/n. They won’t know how truly wonderful she is. If they try to hurt her, I’ll kill them.
Regulus thought as the minister’s voice pulled him from his thoughts.
“Kiss your bride.”
Regulus waited all of two seconds before pulling you into a kiss. You wrapped your arms around his shoulders deepening the kiss. No matter how “off” the situation was, you would make sure that there was at least a decent wedding kiss.
Walking out of the office, you squeezed Regulus’ hand. For the first time since he came and took you away, you felt as if you could somewhat breathe. Now you at least had the promise that what you had with Regulus couldn’t be taken away.
“Everything will be okay.”
Regulus said softly. You stopped walking and moved to wrap your arms back around him.
Summary: It started as nothing now it’s something. Voldemort has been defeated but that doesn’t mean the wizarding world is still a good place to be.

________
“We were all apparently having sex at the same time. Surprise, Grandpa.”
James continued to stare at Regulus as if he had reached across the table and slapped him. For a moment, he was curious if Regulus was just screwing with him. That would definitely be something Regulus would do.
“You…you as in you are having twins with my daughter?”
Regulus raised an eyebrow while Sirius stood up and moved to stand behind James. He wasn’t sure how James was going to react to this news. Something told Sirius to be ready to grab his best friend and haul him out of the room. Sirius wasn’t afraid of what James would do. He was more concerned that Regulus would fight dirty. The last thing Sirius wanted to deal with was a trip to the hospital.
“Yes, it was I that slept with Y/n. Sex is how babies are created if you didn’t know. I would certainly hope you knew considering you have kids yourself but never know.”
Regulus replied in a patronizing tone. He considered saying something more crude like “Yes, James. I knocked up your daughter. Again, surprise grandpa” but decided not to. As much fun as that would be, Regulus didn’t want to give you any reason to be upset more than necessary. He knew that he would have to find some way to be nicer to James and Lily but at the moment that wasn’t a huge worry.
“I know how babies are made. I am not an idiot, Regulus. I was simply hoping it would be someone else…anyone else.”
“Considering she is married to me that would be problematic.”
James sighed and put his head down on the table. When he came back, he was under the impression that both Harry and yourself were still babies. He was looking forward to all of life’s cheesy moments. He wanted to take both of you to the zoo and play tea party. James never expected to walk in and find out that both of his children were grown with lives of their own. He wasn’t ready to find you married to Regulus.
“Just ignore me. I need to sit quietly for a moment.”
Regulus felt his temper beginning to build yet again. From the time that James and Lily came back, James hadn’t done much but gripe about how you had decided to live your life. Regulus had to give Lily points for at least trying to take things as they were.
All Regulus could see was the look of disappointment on your face when James started fussing about your life. The werewolf in Regulus was more than happy to tear James a new one.
“You have sat quietly for long enough and so have I. Since you have been back you have done nothing but bitch about how Y/n has chosen to live her life. I’m not stupid and realize most of it is due to me but you need to get over it. Y/n chose me and I chose her. None of your little comments is going to change that. You need to do us all a favor and accept it before I have to take you outside and beat you.”
Regulus gave James another glare that said “Try me bitch” before turning back to you. His expression has softened in seconds before holding a hand out to you.
“Come on, darling. We need some air.”
You didn’t argue nor disagree with Regulus’ statement. It was best that the two of you left the house as soon as possible. You knew Regulus was about to lose his fragile grip on his temper.
Following Regulus into the back garden, you gave him a moment to pace around before speaking.
“I know I told you the other day but thank you for always having my back.”
Regulus stopped pacing and turned to look at you. He sighed before running his hand through his hair. You stood holding your right arm looking at him with those perfect doe eyes.
In some ways, he had accepted the current predicament that the two of you found yourselves in. In others, he still felt in denial. His eyes dropped down your body. You stood with an oversized sweater hiding your lower body. While you weren't showing yet, Regulus knew that it would only be a matter of time. Everything would feel real then.
“Come here.”
You walked closer to Regulus and waited for him to pull you into his arms. When he did, you snuggled your face against his chest. Regulus gently kissed the top of your head.
“There is nothing that I wouldn’t do for you.”
You were silent for a moment before speaking again. From your spot, you could see Lily looking out at the two of you with a worried expression on her face.
“We will have to find some way to get along with them. As much as my father’s less-than-stellar behavior has been, I do need to cut him some slack. They probably never expected to walk into this. I think they expected to return to toddlers.”
“I’ll try to be good.”
Regulus replied. He wasn’t going to promise it but he would try his best.
“If we can find some way to be civil, it will make the next few months slightly more bearable.”
Regulus took a breath before sighing.
“Will you think that I am a big dumb jerk if I tell you that I am terrified about the idea of having twins? Having a single child scares me to death add two…I am freaking the fuck out.”
You softly laughed before moving to look up at your husband. Regulus was usually so calm and collected. Seeing the look of panic in his eyes was almost foreign.
“I would never think that you are a big dumb jerk for how you feel. If it makes you feel any better, I am terrified too. When I signed up to be friends with Hermione and Ginny, I thought we were going to do things like go shopping and have tea together. I never expected to be pregnant with them.”
Regulus smirked.
“Yeah, me neither. As much as I like your brother this is not the situation I expected us to be in at the same time. So, what if we lose a kid?”
You couldn’t help but laugh at that one.
“I have already been thinking about that. We can dress each child in a certain color, if the twins are of the same gender. If they are different genders then our work is a little more cut out for us. Worse comes to worse, the muggles make these things called Air Tags. We can track them on our phones.”
Regulus nodded.
“That might just work…especially when they become teenagers…especially if one turns out to be like their uncle.”
The two of you shared matching expressions of horror. You weren't sure if you could handle a child like Sirius.
“Reggie, I know lord snakeface is long gone but this world still isn’t a great place. Is it selfish to bring two children into the world? What about when the next big bad comes about? What if that is worse than the other? That will be something that our children will have to deal with.”
Regulus was quiet for a moment before speaking.
“I’ll make you a deal. When these kids grow to be adults, if we aren’t totally sick of them, we will just lock them in their bedrooms and never let them leave.”
Regulus was relieved when you laughed at that. He wasn’t a fool. Regulus knew that you were as scared of this pregnancy as he was.
“Deal.”
The following weeks were some of the most awkward that you had experienced. James was still in a state of unending shock about the situation at hand. Lily was eagerly trying to do whatever she could to help you. You had to give her points for trying. She wasn’t nearly as bad as you thought that she was.
One thing that you were thankful for was the fact there had been no morning sickness yet. Unlike Hermione and Ginny, who were sick as dogs, you were still living life normally (with the exception of drinking pickle juice right out of the jar).
Regulus had backed off of harassing James so much. Whenever he felt like saying something snarky, Regulus would simply leave the room before the temptation became too great.
One morning you sat at the dining room table looking over patient charts while Regulus sat stirring a cup of tea.
“Does dealing with all of those sick people not make you nauseous?”
You shook your head.
“No, surprisingly. I think I will be able to handle all of the gross things like diapers.”
Regulus nodded.
“So does that mean that you are volunteering for that duty? I don’t want to throw up on our child’s head.”
Chucking, your eyes rolled up to Regulus’ worried face.
“I hear that it's different when it's your own child.”
“I suppose we will see.”
Regulus commented as Ron entered the room with a very pale Hermione behind him. You frowned at your best friend’s face.
“Y/n, can you do something to help her”
Scooting your chair back, you moved to walk over to Hermione. Sirius and Remus pulled up a chair. They were getting used to having ring side seats to his so-called “event of the century.”
“What’s wrong?”
You asked as Ron sank down in the chair nearest to him.
“She won’t stop vomiting. It goes on from the time that she gets up until the time she goes to bed. There is no stopping.”
You gave Ron a frown as Harry and Ginny came in.
“There, there.”
You replied condescendingly before moving to Hermione. Placing a hand on her forehead and the other on her stomach.
“Yep, you are definitely pregnant. I have a potion that might help.”
Walking out of the room, you came back with a clear vial. Hermione nearly tore it out of your hand before downing it. You blinked a few times before turning back to Ginny.
“What about you? Do you need some too?”
Ginny shook her head.
“I’m okay today but it's good to know that you have something. I mean with being a healer I would be concerned if you didn’t.”
You nodded before going back to your seat and sitting down. Picking up the jar of pickle juice, you took a small sip. Sirius stared at you looking horrified.
“I can get you a glass.”
You shook your head.
“No, the jar adds to the experience. You could go get some of those crisps with the ridges. Those would go really well with this juice.”
Sirius nodded before getting up and going off in search of crisps. Hermione gave you a frown.l
“How are you not sick?”
You shrugged.
“No idea but I am not complaining. Afterall, I wasn’t the one who thought that this great friend experience we are having was a good idea to begin with.”
Ginny turned to face you.
“So, will you deliver my baby?”
You nearly choked on your pickle juice at that question.
“You know that I don’t typically do that, right?”
Ginny shrugged.
“I wouldn’t want anyone else scoping out between my legs. Besides, I have faith in you. You’re a good healer.”
You crinkle your nose at the “scoping out between my legs” comment.
“Ginny, I don’t want to be scoping out between your legs. That sounds dirty.”
“So? You're one of my best friends and I know with you I would be comfortable, so will your brother.”
You met Harry’s eyes before sighing.
“I swear to Merlin. I’m sure there is a book I can read on the subject. Fine. I swear, I keep getting roped into weird shit with the two of you. For the future, the next time you decide to have babies at the same time. Don’t include me.”
Hermione smiled, squeezing your hand.
“I’ll need your help too.”
You sighed.
“You are playing on my emotions, holding my hand like that. May I make a suggestion for the two of you?”
Both Hermione and Ginny nodded.
“When they offer you drugs for the pain, take them.”
The following few minutes were fairly uneventful. After the conversation that you were just a part of, you needed a break. You glanced over at Regulus who was still shaking his head.
The doorbell ringing got your attention as Ron got up to answer it. When he came back with Neville, you could see Regulus tensing up. Neville’s eyes flickered over to Regulus. Both men were still clearly not each other’s biggest fans.
“You wanted to see me, Y/n?”
You nodded, ignoring the way Regulus was staring at you.
“Yes, I needed to ask you a question.”
Regulus muttered about owls being a very real thing. You chose to ignore his snide remarks as Neville sat down near Harry. He had a feeling that Regulus wouldn’t try anything if he was that far away. Neville had no doubt that Regulus would climb across the table after him if the opportunity presented itself. He only wanted to put that off as much as he could.
“What can I do for you?”
Neville asked, taking his attention off of your husband. He still found himself cringing at the thought of Regulus being your husband. Knowing that you were having the man’s baby, made Neville feel even more sick to his stomach.
You reached for your work bag and took out some papers.
“What if I told you that I could put your parents right?”
Neville frowned.
“Do it. I would tell you to do it. Why?”
You blinked a few times.
“Well, I may have created a potion that could fix memory curses in the most severe form. It's never been tested. In theory, it should work…if I have done my calculations correctly.”
Neville stood quietly for a moment.
“Do it. What are you waiting for?”
“I have to have your permission. I couldn’t just drug them and be like surprise! That would be unethical. We thought about trying it out on Lockhart but nobody really wanted that.”
Regulus leaned back in his chair. Both he and Remus were staring at each other in total surprise from the moment the conversation started.
“When have you had time to do this, love?”
Glancing back to Regulus, you shrugged.
“What do you think I am doing when I can’t sleep? When something is important, you make time.”
Neville, meanwhile, held his hand up. He didn’t have time to listen to any explanations. The thought of having his parents back was everything he had ever wanted. Seeing Harry and yourself have your parents come back had given him some hope that Alice and Frank could be restored too.
When they remained as they were, Neville quickly began to lose faith. Now here you stood offering the possibility of being able to help. That was all that Neville needed to hear. He didn’t care about any outcomes other than having his mother and father in complete control of their minds.
“Excuse me, but back to my parents. Where do I sign and when can we do it”
You held out the paper with all of the information.
“If it doesn't work, there could be…”
Neville cut you off.
“I don’t care. It isn’t like they have much of a life anyway.”
Neville snatched the paper out of your hand before scribbling his name. James and Lily came back with Siruis who had located the crisps you had sent him off for.
“What’s going on?”
James asked. Remus turned to his friend with a proud smile.
“Time to see if your child be a genius.”
“Or a bloody failure.”
You added. Neville was nearly jumping up and down white pointing to the door.
“Let's go! I’ll meet you there.”
He disappeared without another word. You reached down for your bag before meeting your family’s gaze.
“Well, are you lot coming to either watch me succeed or fail?”
Ginny and Harry were on their feet while Regulus stood up and went off for your coat.

Song in Chapter: Running from the Daylight by Concrete Castles
____
Now it's do or die, runnin' from the daylight. Have we had enough? What have we become? Nowhere left to hide. Runnin' from the daylight…Runnin' from the daylight
You stood in the mid-morning sun at the farmer’s marker simply enjoying the spring day. Winter had been hard. It was too long and cold with too many losses for your side. Now the promise of a “fresh” spring brought you fresh hope that The Order would somehow have a lot more “wins.”
“Y/n, what do you think of this?”
Your thoughts were interrupted by Sirius’ happy giggling. Turning, you met your best friend’s gaze as he held up what looked like a stuffed cat in a dress. Raising an eyebrow, you shook your head with an annoyed chuckle. It didn’t matter what was going on in the world…Sirius knew how to make you laugh.
“I’ll miss him.”
The thought hit you like a hex to the stomach. You forced a smile so Sirius wouldn’t suspect anything was up. You took a deep breath Sirius occupied himself with bothering Remus. Staring at your older your heart ached a little more.
He will be fine. Sirius will look after him.
It was only a few short hours before your life changed forever. You had made plans to run away with Regulus. The two of you would run away from everything and start a new life. A new life together…just the two of you in some quaint little country cottage where all of the horrors of “the real world” would forever evaporate. It would be just Regulus and yourself, living the life of a happy couple.
Regulus
Your heart smiled thinking about your “secret” boyfriend. For two years, you had been dating Regulus in private. Secret dating was what it had to be. You were a half-blood and that would never be good enough for the Blacks. Walburga would have a massive fit if she found out that her baby boy was dating a half-blood. Never, in any universe, would you be good enough for Regulus (in his parent's eyes.). If they knew about Remus’ “furry little problem” the “you’re not good enough” view would only be magnified.
If they only knew that I saved him. I am the one who put the light back behind his eyes.
You thought with a smile. If it hadn’t been for you Regulus would have put a fork in a toaster. He told you this himself one night after making love. That conversation itself was one that made you want to get Regulus away even more. You wanted to make sure that another cold frown would never pass over his gorgeous face again.
We will be a cute little married couple. We can get a cat and do all of the mundane things that we never thought would happen.
You smiled at the thought. For the first time in your life, you weren’t craving action or adventure. Instead, you were craving the normally boring slow life that your parents had.
When you had brought up the idea of running away, Regulus had been all for it. He was ready to walk away from the Death Eaters and Lord Voledmort. Regulus no longer cared about his family’s name. Being a member of the House of Black no longer had the “ring” to it that it once did. Regulus was, instead, ready to have that normal boring life where the two of you were just people….just people. It wouldn't matter that he was a pure-blood or you were a half-blood. Instead, Regulus would be the husband who would bring in the newspaper in the mornings while you made coffee.
“I wonder what they are doing at the lowly farmer’s market?”
Remus’ voice pulled you from your thoughts. Looking up, you froze seeing Regulus and Walburga across the next aisle.
“Mum probably got word that she can find weird shit to feel her house with. I should take her that cat.”
Sirius added as your eyes met Regulus’. He gave you a slight smile as your hand reached up to touch the emerald necklace that he had given you.
“Forget the cat, Sirius. The woman is bad news.”
Remus added, nervously. He didn’t have any love lost for Walburga. In fact, Remus was banking on the old bitch dying sooner rather than later. After Walburga nearly killed Sirius, Remus had no use for her. Remus was ready to kick in the door to Grimmauld Place and off the lot of the monsters within.
“Reggie is looking good though.”
Sirius commented sadly. The tone in Siruis’ voice told you everything that you already knew. Sirius missed Regulus.
“He will be fine. He’s a smart boy. I’m sure that he will see the things that you saw eventually.”
You commented, hoping to bring Sirius some comfort. You were the one that Sirius told his worries about Regulus too.
“I’m afraid he will end up like the lot of them. I don’t want to see the boy that I know become a monster.”
Those words replayed in your head over and over as you looked at Regulus again. You wished nothing more than to be able to tell Sirius that you were going to save Regulus. It would be you that took him away and Sirius would have nothing to worry about. Maybe in time, you could invite Sirius and Remus to your new home. You could show them that they had nothing to worry about.
“Yes, he does. Sirius, it will be fine. Regulus is a smart boy.”
Sirius sighed and wrapped an arm around your waist.
“Yes, he is. One can only hope that he will see reason. Come on, let's get back to the house and fix that soup.”
The rest of the afternoon and evening passed slowly. At 10 pm you were due to meet Regulus at the train station. The two of you would take the last night train to your predetermined destination. All that you had to do was wait for Sirius and Remus to act like the little old couple and go to bed.
Around 7 pm, Sirius stretched and stood up. He gave you a smile before looking at his lover.
“There is a new movie playing down at the muggle Cinema. How about we go catch a movie? James and Lily are up for it?”
Remus nodded in agreement. He was all up for an evening out. Most nights were busy with order stuff. The thought of “getting out of the house” acting as if things were normal sounded absolutely amazing.
“Great idea. Y/n, are you coming?”
You shook your head.
“As much as I would love to, I have a bit of a headache and want to call it an early night. Tell James and Lily that I love them.”
Remus slowly got up to find his abandoned jumper. Your comment didn’t raise any red flags for him.
“We will. Would you like us to bring you anything home?”
You shook your head before standing up.
“No, I’m fine. Thank you though.”
You went to Remus and wrapped your arms around him. The realization that this would be the last hug that you gave your brother for some time hit hard. Remus seemed a little surprised at first but hugged you back.
“That’s a nice hug. I’m only going to the movies.”
He commented as you went to Sirius and did the same thing. Sirius, meanwhile, hugged you back just as dramatically.
“I know but I made a goal to never let either of you leave without hugging you. Both of you know how crazy the times are and what if something happens and I don’t hug you before you go?”
Remus gave you that comforting older brother expression as Sirius hugged you again.
“Y/n, everything will be okay. I know it doesn’t feel that way now but in time everything will be fine.”
You nodded as Sirius sauntered off to pull on his leather jacket.
“Remus is right, love. It won’t be long until we grill old lord Voldy’s head or shove it on a stick. We will look back on all of this and laugh.”
Sirius and Remus had been gone for half an hour when there was a quiet knock on the door. You stood up and opened it, relieved to see Regulus on the other side.
“Love.”
You said softly before wrapping your arms around his shoulders. Regulus carefully walked the two of you into the house..
“Are dumb and dumber gone?”
You nodded.
“They went to a movie. What are you doing here early? Not that I’m not super happy to see you…I have been thinking about you since this morning.”
Regulus gently shoved you against the door before pressing himself against you. You sighed happily as he tilted your head to the side and began peppering your neck with kisses.
“Have you now? What a coincidence because I have been thinking about you nonstop. Your pretty face is always on my mind. I couldn’t wait to get my arms around you. Seeing you at that market and not being able to get to you…”
You placed a hand on his mouth.
“If your bitchy mother wasn’t there and I wouldn’t have to mop the floor with her face I would have snogged you right there on the spot.”
Regulus chuckled. He had grown used to your “I’m going to snog you in any place that I want” comments.
“She would have died with a heart attack…not that I would be complaining.”
Regulus murmured before glancing over his shoulder. Even though you said that Remus and Sirius were gone, Regulus still felt the need to check. The last thing that he wanted was for either man to catch the two of you snogging by the door.
If they walked in and heard everything, it would ruin the plan of running away.
Regulus had worked too hard to have his plan ruined now. Over the past few weeks, he had been securing the two of you a safe life in a little Swiss village far away from the wizarding world both of you knew. Regulus had been in contact with his uncle Alphard Black and discussed an escape plan.
Alphard offered his summer home in Switzerland as a home for the two of you while Regulus (little by little) emptied his Gringotts bank. Regulus wanted to make damn sure that the two of you would never want for anything. Would both of you be gone from England forever? Regulus didn’t know. For now, however, Regulus had to plan as if returning home would never happen.
“Are you ready to go?”
Regulus asked, pulling himself from his thoughts. You nodded and picked up a small bag. Regulus raised an eyebrow.
“One bag?”
You shook your head.
“No, I used an extension charm. I have everything that we could need in here.”
Regulus smirked.
“Why am I not surprised? Are you still wanting to go? I know how close you are to your brother and my brother…”
You pressed your lips to Regulus’ again.
“Of course, I want to go. I left Remus and Sirius a letter. I’m sure they will be upset but in time, they will understand. I want nothing more than to share a life with the man that I love.”
A small smile played at Regulus’ lips as he reached for your coat.
“You always know what to say. Now let's get out of here before we start fucking on the couch.”
You slipped on your coat and picked up the small bag. Looking around the house, you took a moment to be thankful for your friends and family. You had never been much of the praying type but for once you prayed that sooner or later fate would bring all of you back together. Maybe in time, your friends would understand why you were taking this action and would forgive you.

______
Waking up the next morning, you frowned when your eyes opened. The room that you woke up in was completely unfamiliar. You had never been here before. The moment you felt someone move, your eyes widened. Rolling over carefully, your mouth dropped the moment that you saw a very naked Regulus lying beside you.
I’m very naked too...what happened?
You thought before remembering what happened the last night at the bar.
Oh...that wasn’t a dream
You thought as you turned back to Regulus. All of these years later, he still slept the same. You wanted nothing more than to take his forearm off his eyes and look at his face. All of these years later, Regulus was still as handsome as he was at 18. The light strands of grey in his hair were the only thing that showed any signs of aging. Whatever he was doing, clearly worked.
There is no point in trying to deny that I have feelings.
You thought before closing your eyes. How you were going to explain this to Julian was still a mystery on its own. Maybe you wouldn’t have to tell your son right away? Maybe when you did, Julian would take it okay.
No, he won't. Julian is going to have a hard time with this. Like his father, he doesn’t handle change well.
You decided to cross that bridge once you got to it. Shoving the thought of your teenage son from your mind, you decided to get up and slip out as quickly as possible. Maybe Regulus wouldn’t hear and you could somehow put all of this behind you. Even if you only had the memories of the night to keep you company, it was at least better than nothing.
Right as you put your feet on the floor, Regulus’s voice stopped you.
“Are you leaving?”
Turning, you gave him a nervous look.
“What did we do, Regulus?”
Regulus smirked.
“We proved to each other that we still have zero tolerance when it comes to alcohol. Is it so bad? Waking up with each other, like we used to.”
“If we were still married there would be no problem. So what are we going to do? Pretend that this didn’t happen and go along our merry way?”
Regulus frowned, as he moved to sit up. As the sheet fell, your eyes widened seeing a large scar across Regulus’ chest.
“Regulus, what is that?”
Regulus didn’t even have to look down to know what you were referring to. His grey eyes locked on your face as he took a breath.
“I think you know exactly what this is.”
You sat back down on the bed unable to look away from the angry red scar.
“That is a werewolf scar…Regulus…when?”
Regulus leaned back against the pillow. His eyes locked on the ceiling as he remembered the second worst day of his life. That day fell right behind the day he came home and you were gone.
“About ten years ago. Greyback had it in for me and long story short…he won.”
Fenrir Greyback
That was one of the names that you hated more than any other. You had a slight against the monster of a man since you learned how he hurt Remus. Now hearing (and seeing) what he did to Regulus, your hatred is magnified tenfold.
“I had no idea.”
You managed to get out. Regulus sighed. He hated knowing that you were going to be the one to see his weakness. Regulus would much rather have just been able to tell you. In time he would have. That wouldn’t be the first thing that would come out of his mouth.
“It isn’t something that I broadcast. I would be ruined as an attorney if that were to get out. I’ve kept it hidden…until now. Convenient that you are the one to find out too. If you really wanted to screw me over, you have the ammunition to do it. “
Frowning, you decided to lie back down. With all of the information that you had just received, lying seemed to be the best idea. You turned your head to stare at Regulus with hurt eyes. Regardless of what happened between the two of you, your heart was broken. If you needed any more of a sign that you still cared for Regulus this was the one.
“Regulus, I am not going to screw you over. I’m so sorry that you have had to live with this.”
Regulus sighed miserably. All of the work that he had been putting into hopefully winning you over was now down the drain.
“Shit storms happen. I suppose that I won’t be seeing you again.”
“Why?”
You questioned. Regulus got out of bed and pulled his abandoned pants on.
“Because why would you want to be with someone like me? If the truth ever gets out, your reputation will be ruined. Not to mention our son’s reputation. He has potential and he doesn’t need to be ruined by having a werewolf for a father.”
You lay quietly for a moment before moving to get up. Regulus had moved to look out the window and into the street below. Staring at Regulus, you couldn’t help but be curious if this was the second chance that you had secretly longed for.
“I could care less about reputations. I can also tell you that Julian doesn‘t give a good goddamn about what people think of him. Please don’t use this as a reason to stop coming around.”
Regulus turned with a frown.
“What do you need me for? You have made it without me. Neither Julian nor yourself clearly goes without. You have made it clear that there isn’t anything between us. You have been keeping up this tough act that I can’t get through anymore.”
“It's because I’m afraid.”
You replied. Regulus stared at you for a moment before coming back to you. He gently took your hands in his.
“Nothing scares you.”
You pressed your lips together before getting the courage to look back into Regulus’ eyes.
“A lot of things scare me. I was scared when you had the affair. I was terrified when I left you. When I saw you again, I was absolutely petrified that I would fall in love with you again. I’m not scared of that. I’m scared that I will love you again and you will change your mind.”
Regulus gently moved to cup your face.
“I’m not going to change my mind. I’m not the stupid kid that I used to be. Y/n, I’m not asking you to jump into anything quickly. I know we have both changed…obviously I have changed. I’m sorry for what I have put you through. You didn’t deserve to raise Julian alone. Knowing that you went through the pregnancy and everything alone…I won’t forgive myself for that for a very long time.”
Hearing those words leave his mouth made you feel better. These were the words that you longed to hear. Everything felt very sincere. You, of all people, knew when Regulus was lying. You could spot Regulus in a lie from a mile away. This, today, was honesty.
“Yes, we have changed. We have both gone through things alone that we should have gone through together. We can change that. “
Regulus moved to wrap his arms around you. Placing his forehead against yours, he took a breath. This felt like the first time that he had been able to breathe in 14 years.
“What are we going to tell Julian?”
Regulus asked. Julian was still a tough subject for him. While he was thrilled to have a son, Julian wasn’t making things easy at all for Regulus. Julian was a tough egg to crack. Regulus couldn’t blame him for this behavior either. Julian was simply protecting both himself and his mother. That was an admirable trait…even if it was making things hard for Regulus.
“We have until Christmas before we have to cross that bridge. Let's see how things go then simply talk to him. If he sees that I am happy, he may be more receptive.”
Regulus only nodded. He hoped that you were right.
(8 weeks later)
“Go ahead, Sirius. Just tell me and get it over with.”
You said, putting your head in your hands. It had been a little over 8 weeks since the night of drunken sex with Regulus and your period was late. After a second week of no period, you had broken down and bought a test (and told Sirius).
Sirius gave you a wary expression. When you told him about getting sloppy drunk and sleeping with Regulus, he was immediately concerned. Over the past few weeks, his worry vanished as Regulus began to show true signs of change. He wasn’t the spoiled self absorbed boy that Sirius remembered. Now he was going out of his way to come to you every evening…and acted like a husband.
“Before I read it, just know that, like last time, you have my full support. You don't have to go through anything alone. I also think this time you will have Regulus on your side too.”
You took a breath and leaned back into your chair. How were you going to spring this on Regulus? The two of you had agreed to take things slow. Slow seemed to be the best way to not only mend your broken relationship but to also get to know one another again. Throwing an unexpected pregnancy into the mix seemed like a way to sabotage everything.
“Sirius, please read the results.”
Sirius looked down at the test and took a breath.
“Positive.”
Sirius watched as the color drained from your face. He quickly stood up to sit next to you.
“Y/n, look at me. Everything will be okay.”
You stood up to briefly pace the room before focusing on Sirius.
“I have an ex-husband who is acting like my boyfriend again. Our relationship isn’t perfect. Not to mention a teenage son who is really hard to love sometimes...what am I going to do with a baby?”
Sirius stood up. He walked over and placed his hands on either side of your face. You seemed to calm when you stopped spiraling and met his eyes.
“Look at me. Y/n, we never know what life is going to throw at us. You can’t always plan and you can’t always prepare. This is one of those things that is just one of life’s little oopsies. You have something this time that you didn’t have last time. This time you have Regulus. Something tells me that under the snark and sass, he has grown up. Julian will be okay and so will this baby. You are a wonderful mother.”
You nodded, taking in Sirius’ words. He was right. You did have Regulus this time. This time Regulus was completely into you. You could only hope that this time, Regulus would live up to the pretty words that he had been saying. Hopefully, this time it wasn’t manipulation.
“Thanks, Sirius. I should go to talk to Regulus. The sooner he knows, the better.”
An hour later, you stood outside of Regulus’ office in the Ministry. Taking a breath, you knocked on the door.
“Come in.”
Regulus’ voice called from the other side of the door. Taking a breath, you stepped inside. Regulus looked up from the large book in front of him. He immediately smiled. Standing up, Regulus pushed the book and paperwork to the side.
“Hello darling, this is a surprise.”
He moved to give you a soft kiss.
“Yeah, Regulus, I need to talk to you…I….I don’t know how to….”
Regulus frowned. Tilting his head to the side, he couldn't help but worry that you came down to end things. If you had, Regulus was going to swear off love forever.
“Y/n, what is it?”
Regulus asked calmly. He was used to dealing with nervous people. When it came to questioning nervous people in court, Regulus had become a pro.
You, meanwhile, had tried to get the words out but failed. Stammering seemed to be the only thing that you were able to do. Taking a deep breath, you knew it was time to get it out.
“Regulus, I’m pregnant.”
You watched as Regulus’ nervous expression faded. He only stared at you with a surprised expression.
“You're pregnant?”
You nodded.
“Yes, I took a test today because I hadn’t had my period. It had to happen that night when we were drunk. How are you staying so calm?”
Regulus frowned. While he was calm on the outside, on the inside he was panicking. You were pregnant...again. You were having his baby and nothing was planned. Whether it was planned or not, Regulus would still panic. He was a werewolf and you were having a baby. Now the fear of his condition magnified.
Disappearing into his mind, Regulus had to talk himself down before he could comfort you.
I can’t let her see me panic. She is clearly scared enough without my crazy. This could be the start to the life she and I deserve…This could be the key to keeping her in my life…I only have to handle this right.

___
“You know that my family isn’t friendly…right?”
You looked up from your dressing table. Regulus sat on the bed looking at you with a slightly worried look.
“Like I’m concerned. I can be unfriendly too. Let fire meet fire.”
You chose to ignore the little wince that your “husband” gave you. It was no secret that Regulus was worried about facing his parents after eloping. This was the most “un-Regulus” like thing that he had ever done in his life. Meeting the repercussions of his actions was now beginning to worry him.
It had been nearly three years since Regulus had seen or talked to his family. The two of you had been hiding out in France. After moving back to England, it was time to face the proverbial music.
“Y/n, I really don’t think that you know what you are getting into. My parents aren’t like your parents. Mine are deranged and…chaotic.”
You put your brush down before moving to settle yourself on Regulus’ lap. Reaching out you twirled your fingers around one of the curls that was about to fall into his eyes.
“Regulus, we have been best friends since we were 11. I know all about your family and their…ways. It's going to take a lot more than I am the almighty Walburga Black to scare me off. Granted, I do wish that I could have a mother-in-law to do fun things with but, hey, you get what you get. You, my love, are worth whatever those nutcases have to throw at me.”
You were relieved when Regulus smiled. It wasn’t often that a smile graced his face but when it did, your heart melted.
“Maybe, if I’m l lucky, mother will fall over dead from a heart attack and the rest of the family will just spontaneously combust.”
Regulus commented with a smile. He knew what he was getting into. Regulus knew that his family was about to have a fit when he brought his new “wife” home. He knew that evening’s dinner was bound to be a fiasco. You were the absolute last person that Walburga wanted Regulus to marry. She hated the fact that the two of you were best friends. The literal only reason why she finally shut up about it was the fact that you were a Slytherin and a pure blood.
“If you must be friends with that girl, fine. It isn’t like you are going to marry her one day.”
Regulus had never forgotten that comment from Walburga. He had been 13 at the time and told his mother that you were his friend. He had no intention of stopping being your friend. It didn’t matter how angry it made his mother. Regulus had banked on his “being his mother’s favorite” card to keep her from beating the stuffing out of him after that comment.
To Regulus’ relief, Walburga stomped off muttering to herself about wondering why her sons were so obsessed with the Potter children. She just couldn’t understand what was so fascinating that Regulus and Sirius couldn’t say no to. At the moment, that was enough for Regulus.
Now, however, things were different. Regulus had fallen in love with you. After a completely “innocent” kiss at 15, he was hooked. There would be hope in Regulus ever wanting to stay away. He couldn’t…not even if he tried.
The following years were full of Regulus keeping you away from any member of his family. No matter how many times you told him that you were ready to officially meet them and rip the “bandage” off, Regulus always said no.
“Reggie, I hate to break it to you but no one will be dropping dead of any heart attacks. Besides, your mother should expect something. We are always together. One would think that with as smart as she “claims to be”, she would have figured out that we have been together since 5th year. Like it or not, she will just have to get over it.”
“I hate knowing that I am taking you into that lion’s den.”
Leaning forward, you placed a soft kiss on Regulus’ lips. You hoped that some kind of physical contact would calm down his raging mind.
“Regulus, I want you to hear me. It will take a lot more than your family to scare me off. I knew what I was getting into when I said, I do. I know your parents aren’t like my parents. They will just have to accept that we are in love. If they can’t…then that is on them. That won’t be our problem.”
“But we have two things that will be their problem.”
Regulus commented as his grey eyes flickered to the corner of the room where your twin daughters sat playing. Both girls were not the least bit interested in the conversation that their parents were having. You looked at your daughters sympathetically before turning back to Regulus. He didn’t have to say it for you to know this was the other source of his panic.
“Maybe knowledge that they are suddenly grandparents will take them out.”
You suggested with a smile. Regulus couldn’t help but smile as you got off of his lap.
“I have to keep them safe from mum and dad. I don’t want them pushing their ideals on Matilda and Rose.”
Both girls looked up and gave Regulus matching little smirks before going back to their toys.
“Regulus, I have known you for a long time. I know that you won’t let them hurt the girls.”
Regulus was quiet a moment as he watched Matilda and Rose play. He coudln’t help but wonder why his own father wanted absolutely nothing to do with him until he had gotten older. Regulus wanted nothing more than to be a part of whatever it was his daughters were doing.
“What if being around them makes me act like…him?”
Regulus questioned. You moved to stand beside your husband. Reaching down, you wrapped your hand around his and squeezed gently.
“The fact that you are even worrying about it tells me that won’t happen. If it were your father, he would never even have that thought. He would just be uncaring and believe that children are to be seen and not heard.”
Before Regulus could comment, the doorbell rang.
“That will be your brother.”
Both twins' heads popped up as they stood up to toddle out of the room shrieking Sirius’ name.
You moved to walk out of the bedroom to answer the door but stopped to look back at Regulus.
“I mean it, love, you are nothing like your father and you won’t become him. Now let's get this exciting evening over so we can have something to laugh about later.”
Walking downstairs, you smiled seeing Sirius holding both Matilda and Rose. Both twins were trying to look through his shirt pocket for the lollipops that he always brought them.
“Mine!”
Matilda shrieked before taking the lollipop out of Rose’s hand. This resulted in Rose screaming “mine” right back at her sister. Sirius looked between both toddlers and sat them down. He handed each girl a lollipop before shaking his head.
“You both get one. No need for the yelling.”
“Thank you”
Matilda muttered before going to sit down at the little table in the corner. Rose patted Sirius’ leg and went to join her sister as Sirius started trying to wipe some sticky substance off of his face.
“I don’t want to know what that is.”
He commented as you handed him a wet cloth. Chuckling Sirius cleaned the gooey spot off before giving you a smirk.
“I never thought in a million years that my neat-as-a-pin brother would be open to being a father. I thought he would barf the moment that a kid drooled on him. So…are you two really going to subject yourself to a delightful dinner from hell with Norma and Norman Bates?”
You nodded.
“Its best we get this over with. The quicker we totally rock their words the faster it will be over>”
Sirius winced.
“I don’t think it will be that easy, love. So, how is Regulus handling it?”
“Like I’m about to fall through thin ice on a pond.”
Regulus commented as he walked into the room pulling on his suit jacket. Sirius turned to face his brother and gave him a sympathetic expression.
“Maybe she will have a heart attack? I mean telling her that you married Y/n and that you have kids will be a huge shock. What if she just kills over at the dinner table? Are you just going to leave her or will you call for help? Reg, what if dad kills over too? Wouldn’t that be great?!”
Regulus only wished that he could have Sirius’ level of enthusiasm at the moment.
“I’m not that lucky, Sirius. Look, the twins go to bed at 8. Try not to hype them up on sugar this time. The last time we didn’t get them to sleep until after 11.”
Sirius gave Regulus a cold scowl.
“Look last time, they asked for ice cream. Try saying no to those little faces.”
As if on command both Matilda and Rose gave Regulus their signature “I’m cute” face.
“Love you daddy.”
Matilda muttered. Rose nodded eagerly but didn’t give up a moment with her candy. Regulus shook his head.
“Love you too, princess.”
He turned back to Sirius discreetly giving him the middle finger.
“And you’re teaching them to suck up knowing very well that I can’ say no to them.”
Sirius chuckled to himself before moving to sit on the couch.
“Well, you’ll be okay.”
Glazing down at your watch, you turned to Regulus.
“We better get going if we want to make our appearance as planned.”
Regulus groaned.
“Damn.”
The two of you moved to kiss your daughters goodbye. Sirius gave you both a final look.
“If you need me, I’ll be there in a jiffy.”
“I’ll remember that. You should pray that I don’t kill her.”
Regulus replied before following you out the door.
A moment later, you stood beside Regulus outside of Grimmauld Place. Neither of you moved to knock on the door. After a moment, you turned to look at Regulus. His handsome features were set into a hard scowl.
“Reggie, remember what I said. You aren’t your father and are nothing like your family.”
Regulus nodded. Hearing those words come from your mouth always seemed to make him feel better. Right now, it was especially helpful because he felt as if he was throwing his family into the lion's den.
“We should get this over with.”
Regulus commented before knocking on the door.
A moment later, Kreacher opened the door. The elf’s eyes got huge seeing the one person that he loved most in the world.
“Master Regulus, you finally came home. Kreacher is delighted to see you.”
Kreacher turned his attention to you and frowned. He knew exactly who you were after hearing Walburga fuss about you for many hours. Regulus had followed Kreacher’s gaze and took a breath.
“Kreacher, this is my Y/n. I want you to treat her with respect.”
The elf didn’t look thrilled by the comment. He held back the vile comment that he wanted to make about the Potters being blood traitors. If there was one thing that Kreacher wouldn’t do, it was upset Regulus.
“Yes, Master Regulus. Please follow Kreacher. Dinner has just been served.”
Regulus tightened his hold on your hand as the two of you stepped into the house.
You had never been inside Grimmauld Place before. After stepping in the door it was as dark and gloomy as you expected. Nothing about this place screamed warm and welcoming.
“This makes me love my family all the more.”
You thought as you followed Regulus and Kreacher down the dark and gloomy hallway. At least, with your family, the home was always warm and welcoming. No one had to worry about being hexed over the dinner table.
Your thoughts stopped the moment that you stepped into the dining room. Just as you expected, the room grew silent. Multiple sets of cold eyes were initially upon you. You squeezed Regulus’ hand as Walburga stood up looking furious.
“Regulus, why is that girl here?”
Regulus took a breath. He didn’t expect much of a greeting from his mother.
“Hello, mother.”
He glanced to where his father sat. Orion was watching him with a hawk-like expression while his grandmother and grandfather took sips of their wine.
Cygnus and Druella both were giving each other hesitant expressions as if to say “here we go.”
“I asked you a question, Regulus. It's been three years since we have seen you and you come home with this girl.”
Regulus swallowed, suddenly remembering just who the hell he was. If his mother wanted to play hardball then so could he.
“Yes, Mother it has been three years. Furthermore, this girl has a name, and its Y/n. I expect respect for my wife.”
Both Walburga and Orion went pale. Cygnus and Druella’s mouths dropped while Arcturus and Melania tilted their heads.
“Silly of me, but did you say wife?”
Walburga finally choked out.
“Yeah, he said wife. My name is Y/n. Just so you know, Walburga, I match people’s energy. You be nice to me and I’ll be nice to you. If you want to start shit, you better be ready to dance. That goes for all of you lovely people. Now, we are here in goodwill. We aren’t here for this to turn into some muggle soap opera-level crap.”
You watched as Walburga quickly began to stutter. She clearly did not expect that to come out of your mouth. Orion, meanwhile, was looking at you with a look of amazement.
“You wanted to see us. We are here but play your cards carefully. Remember that I’m the heir to this family.”
Regulus added in a calm even tone. Walburga continued to blink before turning to Orion. Orion gave his wife a cold glare before turning back to his son.
“I see that you couldn’t be bothered to tell us about any of this.”
Regulus smirked.
“Sorry, Father but we have been rather busy in France. There is more you should know. We have twin daughters. If you have any interest in seeing them, the lot of you will agree to my terms.”
Walburga sank back in her chair before grabbing Orion’s arm.
“They have children. Oh heaven help me, they have children.”
Orion didn’t say anything immediately as he glanced at his wife. He knew Walburga would kill him later but he had a feeling that she would do exactly as her son asked. In private, Walburga had been a wreck since Regulus moved away. There had been multiple times that she had shed tears over the subject. Of course, Orion would never tell Regulus this.
“Yes, we have children.”
You replied. Melania turned to her grandson with a gentle expression. Regulus had always been her favorite. Now seeing him as a husband and father made her extremely pleased. While she still could see the darling little boy that Regulus was, it was clearly time to see him as the man that he had become.
“You didn’t bring them with you, Regulus.”
Regulus’ cold expression softened as he addressed his grandmother.
“No, grandmother. I didn’t with reason. Our family has a talent for losing our tempers and acting out of places of anger. My daughters don’t need to be exposed to that. Before any of you lay eyes upon them, you’ll listen to what I have to say and agree to my terms.”
