Cancer Victim (Part 1?)
Shawn let out a growl before smashing the glass jar to pieces. “Shawn!” his mother yelled worriedly, running upstairs. When she saw the mess with the papers and glass, she froze. She remembered making those with Y/N to make sure he didn’t breakdown during tour. Beautiful cursive words littered the floor, making Shawn even angrier.
Then, he spotted a white envelope sticking out of his mattress. He walked over, angrily yanking the envelope out.
“Mum…” he mumbled, running a hand through his hair.
Karen just left without another word, closing the door behind her. It was obvious she knew what it contained.
“Shawn…” he read out loud softly. “If you see this, it’s either a mistake or we’ve broken up. If we haven’t broken up yet, put this letter down right now, Shawn Peter Raul Mendes. Don’t you dare read on or else I will find you and I will kill you.” Shawn chuckled a little at that. “Oh, and make sure you crawl over to say sorry to me for digging through my personal things. Anyways, hello. We probably haven’t talked a lot after the break up. I know I broke up with you, Shawn. There are so many reasons behind that, but for now I’ll only be able to tell you one. I have cancer. I have 5 days to live. "When I first met you, I was beyond happy and complete and I thought that no one could ever destroy that. I was so carefree and enjoying life as I cruised through the days with you. But after about our 5th date, my life turned around completely. That was the day when I figured out I had cancer cells roaming around my body. The cells were small and still weak so they said that they could extract them out or something like that. So after the date I went to the hospital to get the cells out. Thankfully, the surgery went well and I was whole again. I kept going out with you, hitting so many milestones and things like that. I was so selfish, Shawn. I never told you about anything about going to the hospital, about the cancer cells... I'm so sorry Shawn. I really, truly am. "However now I need to let you go. I was too selfish for such a long time, never telling you anything, because I love you so much. A little too much." Shawn was nearly in tears as he finished reading the letter. He paused for a second before throwing on his jacket, grabbed his car keys and ran outside to his car.
"Mum I'm going out for a while!" he yelled into the house.
"Alright, sweetheart!" he heard his mother yell back and immediately jumped into his jeep, driving to the big hospital that he knew Y/N went to.
Shawn got into the car and sped off the driveway, heart beating quickly. He tapped his fingers on the steering wheel, impatient, as he waited for the light to turn green.
He arrived quickly and ran into the hospital.
"I'm looking for Y/N Y/L/N!" Shawn said urgently as soon as he rushed in the doors.
The nurse led him to Y/N quickly, nearly pushing him inside.
"Y/N..." Shawn chocked up at his girl's state. Her hair was all gone and she looked as frail as could be.
"Shawn?" Y/N asked, her words sometimes smushing together. "Shawn?"
"Yeah baby..." Shawn walked up to her bed side, crouching down. "I'm here sweetheart."
"No no no no no!" Y/N whispered, closing her eyes tightly. She re opened them, looking at her parents in despair. "How...?"
Her parents just looked at her sadly before awkwardly shuffling out of the room, leaving Shawn and Y/N together.
"Shawn..." Y/N said, looking at him. "Why are you here?"
Shawn's heart broke a little at those words, but he pushed away his feelings for a second. "Y/N, why didn't you tell me? We could've tried our best to figure everything out."
"Shawn, you and I both know that it wouldn't have worked out." Y/N took a deep breath before continuing. "Your career was just starting to shape up, and you and I were so much in love that we would've denied everything."
Tears rolled down Shawn's face as he grabbed Y/N's hands. "At least I could've been there for you."
Y/N slipped one of her hands out of his grip, wiping them away from his face. "You did everything you could do. For me and for yourself. I love you."
Shawn gently reached out, putting his soft lips on her chapped ones. After a minute or two Shawn moved away, scared that he might've hurt her.
"I love you too." Shawn breathed out.
But he received nothing from her.
"Y/N?" Shawn asked, staring at her still figure. He looked at the heart monitor next to her and saw that the line had gone completely flat, making a small long beeping noise. "Y/N!!!!! You can't leave me! Not now... not now..."
Shawn held onto Y/N's limp body, crying his eyes out. Nurses and doctors pushed in away after a while, taking hold of Y/N.
He ran out of the hospital and jumped into his jeep, blinded by all the grief and sorrow. When he got home, he ran up the stairs into his room, grabbing a pen and paper. He wrote down his pain and sorrow as the form of words, his writing filling the entire page with all the sadness that he was feeling now. He was literally pouring his heart and soul out into the song.
A/N: 931 words for my first imagine! Hope you liked it!
