Reading & writing about Euripides’ Hecuba

I’ve been very absent on here over the past few months (I hope I will be more active soon), so here’s a little update: I’m now in what will hopefully be the final year of my PhD! By this time next year, I will have submitted my thesis (🤞). Over the past three months I’ve done a lot of thinking about my research, clarifying exactly what it is I’m trying to do, honing it down, and essentially overhauling the thesis. I have a much clearer vision of what I want the end product to look like, and how to get there. There’s still a lot of work to be done, and kinks to be worked out, but right now I’m feeling positive about this new direction. I have no TA or extra-curricular responsibilities this semester, so I’ll be focusing entirely on my writing (the only distraction is one big upcoming conference that I’m presenting at). I’ve been very ill recently, so unfortunately writing has been going a lot slower than I’d hoped. I need to get my shit together now, and work out a good research/writing routine to make sure I’m making the most of these teaching free few months! Any tips greatly appreciated.

In other news, I’ve recently created an Instagram/bookstagram account dedicated to ancient classics. It’s called Reading Ancient Classics (@readingancientclassics) and it’s purpose is to share what I’m reading and introduce others to Greek and Latin literature. If you’re interested in classics, I hope you’ll check it out :) I’ll be hosting a read along of Euripides’ Medea in March.
