I'm reading The Silence Factory by Bridget Collins, and it's very fascinating, I still like how captivating her storytelling is, but man... she is so didactic with the (I suppose) gay romance(s).
So far nothing has been spellt out that much yet, I'm still around the 1/3 of the novel, yet I'm 90% sure Henry's and Sophy's stories would turn into a gay romance. But idk, maybe it's just me but one can build relationship without one character randomly seeing the other naked with bulging eyes. Or outright worshipping the other person with very suggestive thoughts after like a mere few days of knowing him.
And before anyone comes at me, the suggested, behind the curtain hetero sex scene was again very didactic and cheap way to justify pregnancy in the very next diary entry.
But we are yet to see how it all unfolds...
Wow. Is mxtx's work characterized by an exponential increase in tragedy with each successive series or what.
Like, man! I thought that MDZS was rough, but it's positively cheerful next to TGCF, isn't it? I read someone on Reddit saying it was good that xie lian's backstory was spaced out otherwise it would become unbearable -- I'm just halfway through book 2 and it's *already* unbearable!! I wonder if a small part of it is the difference in the temperament of the protagonist as well -- wwx lets an awful lot (too much) roll off his back, but xie lian is heartbreakingly sincere and takes everything to heart.

Some of them, it ain’t my fault. I’m poor and the library got them on hold, or the author haven’t finished, or whatever.
We’re not going to count The School for Good and Evil, because I finished at the end of the third book and I am good with that.
I have recently, by which I mean 2 days ago, discovered the really lovely Chief Inspector Armand Gamache novels. I read 5 of them in 2 days. And now, I desperately need someone to share their fancasting with me.
Please.
