I just can't help turning into an older guy. I have a few younger friends and all their problems just seem pointless in a "Just-wait-it-out" kinda way. Yet for some reason I can't apply this to my own current situations.

just read versaphile's "Game Theory" stories (the ones from the Doctor's perspective) but not yet the one from Jack's perspective because i only just found it.

it's a good depiction of the adjusting-your-reality that actually gets done to you in psychologically abusive relationships.  just with more telepathy in the case of the Master doing that to the Doctor.

how messed up, then, to wish i could get my brain tidied...

...to get over the feeling of reading about somebody getting their brain tidied.   

well, and (like i didn't quite say earlier), memories of letting that happen in my own past.
