juntaek
ngl he became more suspicious to me after he woke up bc his comments on seongbin were faaar too convenient for the police's narrative, almost as if someone was framing seongbin already (edit: almost as if... he knew the cops would be investigating seongbin) everything relating to juntaek in this case is just so convenient for the police to find seongbin guilty. there's no other word. it's convenient. a little too convenient.
"yujeong and seongbin convinced me to throw the box cutter away"
how convenient to pin the blame on the most vulnerable ones since yujeong was beaten into not talking and seongbin may have been manipulated during his seizures -> doesn't seem to remember much (or at all) so can't truly confirm if he would have said that.
"I saw seongbin smiling when I woke up during the rescue and it looked like he was happy because he thought I was gonna die"
that was... incredibly specific for a person who was starving got knocked out by a rock and fell into a fucking 3 month coma immediately after. I remember thinking something was off with this comment right away, like I'm not sure if I can explain it properly but it was so weirdly specific it seemed fabricated.
he could've said "he was smiling and it kinda freaked me out" , "I think he was smiling?"
["he was smiling but I don't know why"
"do you think he could've been relieved to see you open your eyes?"
"I don't know"]
so many variations of this exact event without pointing to seongbin so incisively (I don't think this is a real word but whatever)
and he said it at such a crucial time like jeongdo only needed to hear that without questioning it bc he's already so fucking obsessed with catching seongbin, of course the statements of a survivor that pin him for sure are gonna be taken seriously but they never stopped to question him???? not one "are you sure this happened? you hurt your head pretty bad..." (edit: also I'd like to add that there's no way juntaek wold know about the timing thing, but if he was already planning on framing seongbin from the beginning, coma or not he would've invented/distorted something and it just so happened that jeongdo was already deep in his seongbin-craze)
ALSO. his head injury . also extremely convenient that the attacker decided to use a full 5cm of paper sheets to "muffle the sound". while sure, muffling the sound would be important since everyone was around them and the sound of cracking a skull with a rock is pretty loud. and in doing this the attacker sacrifices strength/force for stealth. and because of this he conveniently didn't die. and also oh! how grand! he remembers everything!!!
like juntaek is the cops' trump card for arresting seongbin. he can lie as much as he wants and blame his head injury, and if he did get brain damage, that's also great for the cops!!!! like if they manage to do the minimum of investigative work and cross examine juntaeks testimony with hannas and find somethings wrong with juntaeks side, they'll be like "oh well he hit his head the brain is a funny mysterious thing..."
and if he's guilty he basically got himself an innocent card bc there's NO WAY they'll suspect him.
I'm not gonna lie I like the image of juntaek we have so far I like the rough rugged guy who's actually sweet and a little dumb and gets heated easily but hes also really kind and loves his grandma. that's right up my alley fr
but it also makes no sense that he basically has an immunity card. I'm not saying there's some fucking Kira levels of planning ahead all according to keikaku bs. if it IS him, I definitely think he didn't plan on being in a coma.it feels more like he took a gamble and the cops bought it bc they were so focused on seongbin (and THIS may have been planned a little)
I feel like Dr ju is catching up on it. not necessarily to juntaek but to the cops being wrong about seongbin. maybe she'll get that hot boyfriend of hers to represent him in court
